Why this movie isn’t universally loved will always be a mystery to me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meloni taking her to hell with him was the best scene in that movie. WE DON'T STOP FIGHTING. EVER, YOU ALIEN BITCH.

Yep cuz i would definitely stand still and shoot the guy after he took 5 full mags from 3 people each God i love movie logic

This is a nice gif

this gif's quality makes me feel uncomfortably and confused, is it good or bad?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The movie with the best dragonball like fighting feeling :))

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I LOVE this scene. Its everything I ever wanted from a action fight. No shifty cuts, no shaky camera or dumb close ups. Just pure awesome

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Your boy Snyder knows action. He never disappoints in the effects category.

Man of Steel was a terrible Superman movie, but the best live action Dragon Ball film out there

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 17

It's a terrible "classic/golden age" superman movie

But for some reason the movies just get worse.

Nothing like 8 different camera angles of an ass kicking that all happen to have the same sign in the background to bring hotdogs to mind

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suddenly feel like 7/11 is super patriotic somehow, it's odd. No idea why.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Na that shit don't work on me. Welp, back later, I've got a convenience store to knock over.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Badly

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy crap high frame rates make movies look cheap and nasty.

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 9

No, interpolation makes movies look cheap and nasty. Native 60fps looks very natural. Most phones today record and playback in 60fps.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's called the soap opera effect

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Eh. Not quite, the soap opera effect is when interpolation is used to try and upgrade lower (say, 30) fps footage to higher (say, 60) ...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

... FPS footage. There's always something very slightly but imperceptively off about footage that has had this done to it, and people ...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

... now seem to have a bad habit of misrecognising this off-ness for just being because it's 60fps video and so "smooth".

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thoigh that’s when they put a nylon stocking over the camera!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's sped up, if it was originally high fps it would've looked better. I liked hobbit's 48fps better

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

It's not sped up. Here, I made a comparison between the interpolated and the original. No speed adjustments. https://youtu.be/0PHKYKrw724

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ahh looked like it from the soldiers. Regardless though high fps movies looks way better to me

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm used to 60fps thanks to games, but I'm still kind of on the fence about high-fps movies. It's bloody amazing for sports footage, though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a guy who jumped to 144 fps recently, I want 60 fps adoption for movies badly. But yes 60 fps in boxing is amazing hope UFC does it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't know what is worse, the glowing product placement or the terrible CGI.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 8

I don't know about you, but I got a weird, sudden urge to shop at 7-Eleven.

Shoot her in the eyes where she don't have armor. At least it's not bikini mail.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Her helmet is translucent and turns opaque in combat everywhere but her eyes. So that are covered. Not that it matters. She's bulletproof.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was afraid that there were some details obvious to those that saw the movie that woulnd't be obvious to me. Oops.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man of Steel was awesome and I need a sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Oh it got a sequel alright... It just wasn't called "Man of Steel II".

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

A Superman only sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man, this gif is smooth as fuck!

8 years ago | Likes 1023 Dislikes 3

Is this actually from something?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Man of steel I think? The first Henry cavil Superman

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Have you guys tried reading the description?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah and fuck that. Every time I'm at a friend's place and they motion smooth on, I disable it when they don't look.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How all my gifs look compared to this one v

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude....that looked more real than when I saw the movie itself.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mmmmmm

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You should check it @SilkySmoothGifs, who has yet to make my Community request gif...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll make one for you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sped up to twice I think, got dat smooth almost 60fps motion

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not sped up at all. Just increased framerate to 60

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's not increased. You can't create frames that don't exist. You merely interpolate between the frames. And quite honestly it looks bad.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But you CAN create frames that don't exist. That IS interpolation.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you want to call that an actual frame instead of some blurry mess. I still think the result looks terrible.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Sliding uphill it’s so smooth

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As smooth as a Bose-Einstein condensate.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

v

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*mp4

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes it looks smooth here but if you’re tv is setup poorly it will look like this too. Motion enhancement sucks. It looks like video not film

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Your distinction doesn't make sense to me.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Too much tech info to type out in this forum.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We've grown accustomed to cinema using lower framerate than TV. So @mediaman says that it looks like a cheap daytime TV production.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that, I'm a filmmaker. But what about 60fps looks like video.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's all too smooth.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Film is usually 24fps and video 29.97fps.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The difference between 24fps and 30fps is only barely noticeable, and when it is noticeable it's only sometimes - this clip is at least 48

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't mind a higher framerate, but a fake framerate always look terrible.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That weird FPS smoothing makes everything on TV look/feel like a soap opera to me.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Is this like, sped up to make it look like 60fps? I haven't seen MoS in a while

8 years ago | Likes 304 Dislikes 3

This is how fast she moves in the movie, if it's sped up it's barely at all

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah human eyes can't see past 30fps you're imagining it

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 16

Utter horseshit.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

/s

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Yeah it's actually too jarring for me. Movies are filmed at the speed they're filmed at for a reason.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

No she rally is that quick.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gooooodd 'ol Infy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That high frame rate makes it look more like a video game... I had to rewatch the clip to see if things were actually all digital.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Goes to show how far games have come

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd say slowed down. You couldn't tell shit I. The fight scenes in that movie. Way too fast.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not sped up, it's interpolated.

8 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 4

It's pronounced gif, not gif

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

you fucking retard its not pronounced gif its pronounced gif jesus fuck the amount of people who actually screw that one up.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

ah yes, that word that nobody knows the meaning of offhand that has the exact same effect, good catch.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 67

Doesn't interpolation like.. not speed up the actual thing unlike.. speeding it up?

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

It basically creates extra frames. There are different methods but more or less your computer analyzes two frames and makes smth to fit both

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

hence me saying it has the same effect, and not that it does the same thing.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 15

though in this case the only reason it may seem faster is because of motion blur used to compensate for the low frame rates used in theaters

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

It's always amusing when someone gets all snarky, while still being completely wrong :)

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Jesus lol I’m laughing my ass off

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I think it might be you struggling with the understanding of the word interpolation in this scenario.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I'm technically correct on this one, though I admit i was just going for a laugh and didnt double check the definition of interpolation 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

"Technically" in this case meaning "not"...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

if you're making extra frames and they're not multiples of each other, than you necessarily have to throw frames in at intervals, 2/?

Unless you're Peter Jackson and everyone is too afraid to say "no" to you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sped up. Here's a comparison without any speed adjustments: https://youtu.be/0PHKYKrw724

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm aware (with exceptions like the Hobbit) but there are all sorts of tricksy ways to make frames look more buttery these days

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

it's definitely sped up, but I think there might also be a bit of morphing going on

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

The scene length is the same as in the original 24fps version: https://youtu.be/0PHKYKrw724

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I watched The Hobbit in the theater it actually looked extremely stuttery. Like more so than other movies. I wonder what happened there

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of the "60fps gifs" of movies use frame interpolation. But how 24fps looks on a real cinema screen is... kinda complicated.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For example in a dark theatre, the bright screen each frame to linger on your retina, a similar effect to "ghosting" on an LCD screen.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These effects and others combine to make the "cinema look" which is hard to entirely replicate with digital source on an LCD screen.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, in a film camera each frame is not an "instant" each frame has a long exposure time so captures large movement as a blur.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Interpolation

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What do the cops have to do with this?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its 2018. Why are movies still filmed at 24fps?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Eh, I just use madVR with MPC-HC + Reclock + SVP to play everything back in 60FPS anyways.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We're so used to 24fps and the natural motion blur that 60fps footage often gets what's called the "soap opera effect", where things can ->

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

-> seem too "clean" and "flat". More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because The Hobbit was painful to look at

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

more FPS => more motion details => all imperfections visible, too realistic and the perfect dreamy look is gone

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's similar case to simple 2D animation vs challenging 3D CG. Our brains are great at filling in the gaps with very satisfying assumptions.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Hobbit was 60fps, and as a result it looked really really weird, to me at least. Guess it's the case for others too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, especially in the start of the first film for some reason. After that it looked pretty decent

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe it was 48 fps, double of the normal rate. Not 60. But yeah even at 48 fps plenty of people had issues watching it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're probably right. I just remember leaving the movie thinking "'Well that was weird", and reading somewhere the FPS was different.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cinematic look. Atleast that's what game devs say as an excuse for not going higher then 30 fps

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Most games on consoles are hard locked to 30 because the console can't deliver much more than that. No other reason.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That is true. That is not what they said though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

they easily can if the graphics are turned down but game devs are too scared of their games not being "gorgeous"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*than

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Apparently because everyone's used to movies at 24fps so it looks 'weird' in 60, like a home movie/documentary and hits uncanny valley. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Also because rendering special effects at 60fps is more than double the render time.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I wish Man of Steel would have been sped up. It would have been over sooner. ;)

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Also rotoscoping at 24 is a LOT less work than rotoing at 60 :)

Not necessarily WoW. Witcher 3 came to mind first for me.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are a few more games other than WoW. And classic monsters only scale to 60. :)

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Yeah I’m a GW2 player so in lower level areas your level gets dropped with the monsters usually only being one or two levels above
