iirc the blindfolds are future technology holovisors. Like a really thin HUD-goggles deal. As for the clothing, uh... aesthetic, I guess?

It was never patched. I used the FAR mod that actually makes the game run and Nvidia/AMD did some work on it but SE never released a patch.
