Upcoming games for 2014-2015 and 2016

Why make a list ?

Got no bloody idea. I probably burned couple of circuits in my brain after studying too much mathematics, so i decided to make a list to follow, because i got fed up by checking gaming websites. Now i have a list of my own and can remember which games i'd like to play during freetime. (something which i dont have)

I'm offering this cat gif (consider it as a payment in advance) to Sacred Altar of User Submitted and sorry if i missed any game or any genre.

I made the list with 49 games but with your recommendations it now contains 60 games. Thanks for the votes and your suggestions of games, keep them coming

Risen 3: Titan Lords

I personally never liked Risen franchise. I don't know why, but they always seemed somehow 'empty' when compared with the Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age and Witcher series (according to me) Regardless my worthless personal opinion, Risen 3 will be released on August 15 on PC and current-gen consoles.

Wasteland 2

Post-apocalyptic role-playing video game developed by inXile Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It is the first official sequel of 1988 video game, Wasteland. Wasteland 2 started its journey as a kickstarter project and now it can be purchased on Steam as an early-access game. It will be released in August 2014 for PC.

Destiny

Destiny is a mix of MMO, FPS and RPG genres being developed bz Bungie, the developer of Halo series. It's one of the most anticipated titles of this year. It"s worth mentioning that Acitivision is planning to spent more than 500mil USD (yes, 500 million United States Dollars) for Destiny.

Forza Horizon 2

Forza Horizon 2 is an upcoming racing video game developed for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. It is the sequel to 2012's Forza Horizon and part of the Forza Motorsport series. The game will be developed by Sumo Digital for Xbox 360 and Playground Games for Xbox One, with Forza Motorsport series developer Turn 10 Studios supporting both builds.

Forza Horizon 2 will be out on September 30th

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros., is a series of fighting games published by Nintendo, featuring characters from established video games.

Super Smash Bros. scheduled for holiday 2014 release. 3DS version will be released on October 3rd, 2014.

Drive Club

One of the lauching titles (supposed to be) of PlayStation 4, Drive Club is a racing game developed by Evolution Studios and Sony Entertainment. Though it's not classified as a 'racing simulator' like Gran Turismo, it`s gonna compete against Codemasters` GRID.

Drive Club will be released exclusively for PS4 on October 7.

Shadow of Mordor

Well it's basically Assassins Creed game with LoTR and RPG elements. No, i'm serious. Even ex-developer of AC game filed a law-suit against its developer Monolith and WB Games. But hey, is it fun to play ? Yes, if so we don't care.

Shadow of Mordor will be released at the end of October 7 for PC and current gen consoles.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Ah yes, Dragon Age. Fantastic title, spiritual successor for Baldur's Gate. Then got fucked by EA during the development of Dragon Age II. (EA admitted that they rushed BioWare during the development)

Right now, BioWare has a chance to redeem themselves and save the franchise, and according to what they say about the game, they might indeed save the day and give us a good looking, rich RPG game.

Inquisition will feature open-world environment and will be bigger than both games combined. (But will it be bigger than Skyrim and Temeria ? I doubt it.) Multiple races and genders are coming back with Inquisition, and fighting system will rather look like Witcher 2 instead of first two games. According to the developer, fighting system will require a coordination with potion and tactics, so there will be no more hack'n'slash styled battles like in DA2. (Thank God) Inquisition is being created by DICE's Frostbyte 3 engine so expect high quality visuals.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released on October 9, 2014 for both-gen consoles and PCs.

Alien: Isolation

It is the Alien game we were waiting for. After EPIC FAIL of Alien: Colonial Marines, people behind title didn't give up and gave the job to Creative Assembly, folks behind Total War saga.

Alien: Isolation will be released on October 7, for PC and both-gen consoles.

Evolve

Evolve is a sci-fi themed FPS game and has an interesting game mechanic. While it supports 5 players, 4 of them are hunters and 5th player is a 'monster' who can be evolved by killing other creatures during the match. Evolve will be mainly multiplayer based, though it'll feature a SP content as well. Evolve will be released on October 21 for next-gen consoles and PC.

Battlefield: Hardline

Despite the fact the EA has denied to release Battlefield game every year like Activision is doing with Call of Duty, Hardline will be released roughly a year after the release of Battlefield 4. This time though, we will not see an all-out warfare. Hardline will focus on 'war' against the crime. It will carry elements from old Battlefield 2: Spec Ops expansion pack.

Assassins' Creed: Unity

While everyone was waiting an Assassins' Creed game takes place in ancient Rome or even in Asia, Ubisoft has done the unexpected and decided to continue the franchise on similar time settings like previous 2 games (AC3 and AC4, and speaking of time settings i'm talking about game mechanics, gunpowder, got it ?) And it seems Unity was in development since Assassins Creed Brotherhood.

Anyway, story takes place in Paris during the French Revolution and it shapes around an aristocrat Arno Dorian who seeks a redemption in the creed and destined to expose 'the truth' behind the Revolution.

Unity was shown as a 'real real next-gen game' so i guess we'll see how it's real next-gen when it's released on October 28.

It'll be released on PC and next-gen consoles, no info about delay on PC, so i assume it'll be released at the same time.

The Evil Within

The Evil Within, known in Japan as Psychobreak, is an upcoming survival horror video game releasing, being developed by Japanese studio Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is set to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in October 2014.

Bayonetta 2

Bayonetta 2 is an upcoming action hack and slash video game developed by Platinum Games and published by Nintendo for the Wii U, with Sega as the franchise owners serving as its advisor. It is the direct sequel to the 2009 game, Bayonetta, and is being directed by Yusuke Hashimoto and produced by Atsushi Inaba, under supervision by series creator Hideki Kamiya. It was announced on September 13, 2012, and will be exclusive to the Wii U, unlike the previous game which was only available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Bayonetta will be released on October 28 and will include original Bayonetta 1.

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is an upcoming open world third-person action video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Microsoft Studios exclusively for the Xbox One.

Players navigate the open world metropolis Sunset City in 2027. The dystopian world is controlled by the corporation FizzCo. The player character is a FizzCo employee, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal , tasked with cleaning up the mess left behind from a party FizzCo has thrown in celebration of the launch of their new energy drink, Overcharge Delirium XT. Players fight the OD'd humans who have mutated from drinking too much of the energy drink.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Kevin Spacey baby. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare takes place in 2054, where the strongest military forces are not countries but PMCs. Single player will be interesting and apparently devs did their homework regarding current PMC organisations and what they present. Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4th, for consoles and PCs.

Halo: Master Chief Collection

343 Studios, people who made Halo 4 and upcoming 5th installment, remade `old trilogy` plus Halo 4 with new game engine. This remake pack which contains first 4 games will be released on November 11 for Xbox One only.

The Crew

The Crew was an expected title for next-gen consoles but due to some problems during development, it couldn't catch up release dates of PS4 and Xbox One. It is a racing MMO which covers entire USA. It also gives the freedom of modifying cars to users, something gamers were missing for a long time. It'll be released for next-gen consoles and PC on November 11, 2014.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4 is a FPS game, sequel of 2012 released Far Cry 3 (no known connections between both though) Story takes place in Kryat, an imaginary country in Himalayas, mainly based on Nepal (according to dev logs) It'll be released on November 18, for both-gen consoles and PC.

Project CARS

Project CARS (or Community Assisted Racing Simulator) is a game developed by Slightly Mad Studios. It is considered as a racing simulator, like Gran Turismo of PS3. Project CARS was not funded by traditional method. Instead, players and developer itself funded the development of Project CARS, pretty much like Kickstarter scenario. It was also scheduled for X360 and PS3 but developers decided to cancel the development for old-gen consoles and focused on next-gen consoles and master race.

Project CARS is scheduled to be released on November 2014.

Civilization: Beyond Earth

Say hello to spiritual successor of 1999's Alpha Centauri. It's under development of pretty-much same team which developed Alpha Centauri in 1999, therefore Beyond Earth also shares same concepts and similar game mechanics from both Alpha Centauri and the latest title, Civ5. According to Brian Reynolds (dev) story takes place roughly 200-300 years later (250 years later of launching spaceship in Civ5) from today.

Beyond Earth has no specific release date yet, though it'll be released this year if it won't be delayed.

Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator that represents the fourth installment in the Elite video game series. Like Star Citizen, Elite was also a kickstarter project, and they`ve collected approx. 3million USD. According to developer, Elite: Dangerous will be released in 2014 for PCs. Probably before Star Citizen.

Pillars of Eternity

Batman: The Arkham Knight

Movie games generally suck. Same applies for comics and such. Batman, on the hands WB Games, is an exception. We've seen fantastic Batman games lately, so i'm sure Arkham Knight won't be less exciting. It will feature good-old villains such as Penguin, Harley Quinn, Two Face but it'll have more villains than previous installments.

Arkham Knight is going to take place a year after SPOILER death, but SPOILER is going to be referenced left and right though out the game.

It was scheduled to be released for January 2014, but it was delayed for a year, next release date is January 2015.

Batman The Arkham Knight will be released for next-gen consoles and PC.

Dying Light

Dying Light is a FPS zombie themed survival-horror game which takes place in South Africa. One of the interesting feature of Dying Light is dynamic day-night cycle, something we don`t usually see in zombie themed games. I also hope that zombies will be smarter than usual. It`s being developed by Techland, makers of Dead Island. As an interesting note, Dying Light was planned as Dead Island sequel, but after numerous changings and updates, team decided to release it as a separate game and re-do a real Dead Island sequel which will be Dead Island 2.

Dying Light will be released for both-gen consoles and PC, on 15 February 2015.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Every gamer knows Borderlands, or should. For those who don't, Borderlands is a FPS game combined with RPG mechanics and elements and it's fun to play as a single player or even with your friends in a co-op mode. Whatever. Pre-sequel focuses on events before Borderlands 2 and the story of Handsome Jack, how he has become the villain of Borderlands 2. It'll be somewhere between the first and the second game and contain familiar characters such as Claptrap, Wilhelm and Jack and probably more.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released for current-gen consoles and PC. While wikipedia states that it'll be released in October, official website says February 2014 as a release date.

Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt

Now, this is the game which i won't die before playing it. For those who don't know (shame on you !) Witcher 3 is an open-world RPG game developed by Polish developer, CD Projekt and it is based on same name novels of Andrzej Sapkowski. It is the third and the final installment of Witcher franchise, features Geralt of Rivia as a main character.

RPG lover or not, if you're playing games once in a while, i strongly recommend Witcher games as a trilogy.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 is a survival-horror game developed by Yager Development and will be published by Deep Silver. Normally it was under development by Techland but they decided to focus on Dying Light, so they gave project to someone else. It is a sequel of Dead Island btw.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a sequel for Tomb Raider, the reboot title which was released in 2013. Announced at this year's E3, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released for next-gen consoles and PCs. It is scheduled for holiday 2015 release.

Tom Clancy's: The Division

Tom Clancy's The Division is an upcoming third-person tactical shooter action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Red Storm under the Tom Clancy brand for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.It was announced during Ubisoft's E3 2013 press conference, together with a seven minute gameplay demo.

Don't be fooled though. That demo we're talking about ? It appeared that it was actually a tech demo, demo which shows the potential of game engine. And when we were imagining to play Division with 'that' visual quality, reports showed that developers already started to downgrade the game to the oblivion. So when the game is released we won't be seeing anything close to that graphic quality.

Shame.

Star Citizen

Behold, the game which will threat your pity PC like a bloody peasant. I'm talking about Star Citizen, the game which is coming to melt your GPUs. All jokes aside, Star Citizen is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator video game for Microsoft Windows and Linux. Star Citizen will consist of two main components: first person space combat and trading in a massively multiplayer persistent universe and customizable private servers, and a branching single-player and drop-in co-operative multiplayer campaign (known as Squadron 42). Star Citizen is built on a modified CryEngine and will feature Oculus Rift support.

Star Citizen started as an Kickstarter project and it achieved whooping 44mil USD. It's being developed by Chris Roberts, developer of legendary Wing Commander and Freelancer franchises. I assume you can consider Star Citizen as spiritual successor of WC.

No Man`s Sky

No Man's Sky is an upcoming science fiction video game developed and published by Hello Games. It will feature a procedurally generated open universe in the style of Elite.

Players are initially given a totally uncharted universe to explore, where information about any planet's characteristics and lifeforms may be shared and updated with others.

No specific release date as far as i know, so i`m guessing that it`ll be released in 2015.

Mad Max

Mad Max is 3rd person, open world, post-apocalyptic game which is developed by Avalanche Studios (Just Cause 1 and 2) and Warner Bros, based on same named movie. Mad Max appaered first in E3 2013 during Sony press conference and was scheduled for 2014 release, however it's delayed to 2015.

Mad Max will be released for next-gen consoles and PC in 2015.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is an upcoming open world action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and directed, co-produced and co-written by Hideo Kojima, currently in development for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Phantom Pain will follow the events of Ground Zeroes, which was released this year.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is an upcoming action-adventure video game published by Sony Computer Entertainment and developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Initially teased at Spike TV's PS4 launch event on November 14, 2013, a full in-engine trailer confirmed the title during Sony's E3 2014 press conference on June 9, 2014.

Several years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Nathan Drake, who retired as a fortune hunter, will embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. Naughty Dog outlined the game's plot as "his greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves".

In March 2014, both directors of Uncharted 4 have left the studio, but have no worries, Naughty Dog reported that directors of The Last of Us are now in charge of Uncharted 4.

Bloodborne

Bloodborne is an upcoming video game by From Software and SCE Japan Studio for the PlayStation 4. It is being directed by Demon's Souls and Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki.The game was announced at Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 media briefing on June 9, 2014, where a trailer was shown.

Rainbow Six: Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege is an upcoming first person shooter by Ubisoft. It was announced by Ubisoft on June 9, 2014 at E3.

It is considered to be a successor to Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots, which has been cancelled. It will be released on eighth generation consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, as well as on Microsoft Windows. Like all other titles in the series, it will focus heavily on team play and realism. However, there are major differences to older versions of the game, featuring a heavy multiplayer focus and destructible environments.

Quantum Break

Quantum Break is an upcoming third-person action video game to be released on the Xbox One. Developed by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios, the game will feature live-action videos blended with regular gameplay.

Story shapes around three characters who can manipulate the time due to the accident of time travel experiment. Interesting stuff to know is that developers consulted a scientist who's working in CERN while they were writing the story.

Dreadnought

F2P games has tendency to suck afterwards and become P2W (Pay-2-Win) in these days, though there are exceptions. Dreadnought is a game which you control a battleship (bigass one) and destroy other players' precious babies (ships, yeah i meant ships) Meanwhile it'll be mainly F2P, there's a consideration of making SP episodes and provide a story. Dreadnought is a Battlestar Galactica level F2P game which will be released in 2015.

Homefront: The Revolution

Homefront: The Revolution is a sequel of 2011 released Homefront, its story takes place 4 years after the Korean invasion and 2 years after the battle of San Francisco. While the Resistance have some progress, Koreans occupied Eastern states and Philadelphia is a main base of operations. Your mission as a resistance fighter is simple; kill all little Kim Jong-Uns.

Be careful though, Homefront 2 was under development by THQ and Kaos Studios before they went bankruptcy and reports are showing that Crytek is also struggling with financial issues. While game is scheduled to be released for 2015, for PC and next-gen consoles, we might not see its release, considering financial problems Crytek is having.

Crackdown

Crackdown franchise is an open world 3rd person shooter gamer which takes place in fictional areas. Crackdown is focusing on a team which takes out criminal syndicate leaders and kingpins. Third installment, known as Crackdown will be coming to Xbox One in 2015. And it's an exclusive title for Microsoft's next-gen console.

Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X is an upcoming fighting game currently in development by NetherRealm Studios. It is the tenth main title in the Mortal Kombat series, with a release scheduled for 2015. The game is being developed for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is expected to be backported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by a third party.

Routine

Routine is a FPS survival-horror game developed by Lunar Software. Story takes place on an abandoned Moon base, and obviously you were sent there to investigate what the hell happened to the crew. It has similar story elements with Dead Space 1, something i love to see. People of Steam showed their interest to game so, Routine became a Steam Greenlight title.

Routine is scheduled to be released in 2015, for PC and Mac.

Everybody's Gone to Rapture

No, it's not Rapture in BioShock. Everybody's Gone to Rapture is a post-apocalyptic adventure game developed by The Chinese Room, and it's a spiritual successor to Dear Esther. Everybody's Gone to Rapture will be focusing on 6 different characters, in the world which evolves around them. And The Chinese Room is so loyal to its fans, they've decided to make Everybody's Gone to Rapture as Playstation 4 exclusive, despite the fact that Dear Esther was a success on PC. Nice play guys.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Star Wars: Battlefront

While everyone was expecting Bad Company 3 from DICE, those guys showed up with another exciting title: Battlefront. Star Wars: Battlefront is an upcoming video game in the Star Wars: Battlefront series, under development by DICE. The game was introduced at Electronic Arts' E3 press conference on June 9, 2013. While there is no specific release date announced, EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen hinted that game will be released third or fourth quarter of 2015.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing to hear this from EA directly, instead of DICE which is the developer.

Devil`s Third

A Wii U exclusive third-person shooter/combat game arrives from the creative mind of legendary designer Tomonobu Itagaki.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming role-playing video game, set in the 15th century medieval Central Europe with a focus on historically accurate and realistic content. The game will be a single-player experience with branching quest lines and a highly interactive world encouraging emergent gameplay. Kingdom Come will feature period-accurate armor and clothing, combat techniques, and real-world castles recreated with the assistance of architects and historians. The game will also contain period music recorded by Czech masters that were taken note for note from medieval song books. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is scheduled for a Q4 release in 2015 for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been confirmed as well for a later date.

If the memory serves me right, Kingdom Come will be released as 3 chapters. Can someone confirm this ?

Doom (previously Doom 4)

Doom 4 was in production for so many years that you might to start to think if it's gonna suck like Duke Nukem Forever (hopefully not). After years of slow development, project was taken by Bethesda Softworks 2011, Doom made its first appearence at E3 2014 conference as a CGI trailer. Bethesda's another shooter, Wolfenstein: New Order had Doom BETA access as order bonus.

We will most likely hear more during Quakecom on July 17, 2014. Game will probably be released in 2015.

Starcraft II: The Legacy of the Void

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void is a planned expansion pack to the military science-fiction real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and the third and the final part of the StarCraft II trilogy.

The expansion will include additional units and multiplayer changes from Wings of Liberty, as well as a continuing campaign focusing on the Protoss species. It will span approximately 20 missions and will be priced as an expansion set. While Kerrigan and Raynor will also present in the expansion, tLotV will focus mainly on Zeratul and Protoss.

As of November 2013, game story and cinematics are completed and developers are focusing on gameplay mechanics.

It will released in 2015 for PC (probably)

Mass Effect 4

BioWare did medicore work on Mass Effect (I remember complaints about game mechanics and invertory system) amazing work on Mass Effect 2 and they`ve fucked up on Mass Effect 3. (Seriously man, RGB colored endings, what were you thinking ?)

They first decided to reboot the franchise, meaning do a prequel, but it seems Mass Effect 4, will be Mass Effect 4 after all. There may be no Shepard in it, but it will be a sequel. The main question is which ending will be canonized, or will be any connection between first trilogy.

Mass Effect 4 is expected to be released in 2015 for next-gen consoles and PCs.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming action role-playing video game that was announced in 2012, based on the Cyberpunk series of tabletop role-playing games.The game is being developed by CD Projekt RED. Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a dystopian futuristic world in which ultra-modern technology co-exists with a degenerated human society.

Cyberpunk will be released for next-gen consoles and PC. The release date was actually February 2015, until Witcher 3 got delayed. While developers say that Cyberpunk won't be affected by the delay of Witcher 3, i find it hard to believe that they will release their both games in same month.

It'll be then, released in 2015.

Mirror's Edge 2

Mirror's Edge game was officially revealed at the Electronic Arts' press event at the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo in June 2013, to be released on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game has been confirmed as a prequel to Mirror's Edge showcasing the origins of Faith, and will use the newer Frostbite 3 engine. Electronic Arts later confirmed that the game will be an "open-world action adventure".

Attention though, Rhianna Pratchett who was the writer of Mirror's Edge 1 tweeted that most of the original team which developed first game won't be involved on Mirror's Edge 2.

Game is scheduled to be released in 2016.

Prey 2

Prey 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the sequel to the 2006 video game Prey.

Since it's announcement almost everything has changed regarding Prey 2. First its studio changed, then all work was scrapped out. Then Arkan Studios (Dishonored) took over the project in 2013, and since then nothing new came out.

Regardless the bad faith of Prey 2, i still think that it'll be released in 2016.

Fallout 4

It is under development but that's it as news. Yep, nothing new so far. Scheduled release will probably be 2015 or even 2016.
