My family has been struggling with money. Lately there hasn't been much food in the house, so obviously we haven't had takeout food in a while. I bought us a huge takeout meal last night... enough so we could eat left overs tonight. Unfortunately, my sister ate everything by the time we got home today. My sister is overweight and has had problems with lying and self control since I can remember. I have always felt like food was a competition of who could get to it first because she eats EVERYTHING as soon as it's bought with total disregard for her other siblings or parents. When I confronted her about why she ate more than her fair share, she first says she didn't eat it (guess it was a hungry ghost?), then changes her story to "I hate all you people anyways I don't care if you eat". Of course by the end of it I got yelled at for confronting her and "starting drama" because I know she's "sensitive". Posting here because I have no friends who care about listening to my problems and Imgur seems like the new place to vent.

An adult with an attitude like that? I can't see her going very far in life..

Dude.... I'm sorry you have to deal with this shit... I say a small cheap fridge.. or a freaking padlock.... get out asap

Sounds like me and my sister growing up. Think I have weight issues and that because I always had to grab what I could or lose out.

Same with me and my dad, I'm only just now getting over it and learning healthy eating habits.

Best thing I did with my family as a child was move the fuck away.

I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles on top of being hungry, it's free to vent here

Sounds like you need to have a chat with your parents about her. It sounds she needs a councillor or psychologist.

In Australia you can find free ones, our universities offer cheap ones, might be a place worth looking.

I don't know if this is true or not because of how detached I am from this story. But if it's true you're sister sounds like the problem.

Her parents do: They yelled at OP instead of dealing with the sister and her illness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binge_eating_disorder

Next time go to a restaurant and do not invite her. Let her fend for herself

Good for you, on both counts. Tired of people who coddle. Awesome job treating your family.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You got friends, vent away buddy. That would be incredibly frustrating and it sounds like it happens way too often

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sounds like she needs help, and your parents need help to realize she needs help , I wise you luck OP you're gonna need it.

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 4

Actually not uncommon for people who grow up with lack of food to binge and horde. Your parents failed you both. Show compassion.

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 9

While I agree with the binging, going against your family means you don't know the value of money.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

Or, you lack self control because it's a compulsive eating disorder.

She can know the value, just be so fucked up she can't stop herself. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binge_eating_disorder

Yeah, actually fucking shun her from the next meal. If shes gonna act with complete disregard for other people she should see how it is.

7 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 9

Only buy food for yourself. Or if ever want to share again make sure you hand the food to your family when you’re going to eat it

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Suggest counseling, seems clear to me that isn't healthy.

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

If they don't have the money for food...

There are services that can help, I got free therapy.

7 years ago | Likes 1458 Dislikes 9

yeah, id straight up tell your parents they dropped the ball on this one.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like there is some enmeshment going on with the parents and your sister that needs to be addressed by a professional. Boundary work.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I second that , shitty parenting. Teach your kids right from day one, DO NOT get lax, or we all pay and bad parents will cover for 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 1

and for their demon spawn, get your kids help if needed stop covering it up.

Your parents refused to have your sister treated for binge eating disorder then. Bad on them. Now she has passed on the traits to her kids.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is what I was thinking. Binging isn't discussed as much as Ana or Buli. Its scary to be stuck in a cycle where you can't stop eating.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Or she is just a fat bitch, we will never know

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both, basically. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binge_eating_disorder

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe, maybe not. A lot of people can mend if their life is not constantly breaking them, and she is young.

18 is young but not young enough for it to easily mend. The behavior has probably been going on for half her life or more.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your sister is trying to cope with her loss of control by binge eating. Only solution- refuse to see it as a food issue. It's bigger than

7 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 12

It don't always have to be that deep, sometimes it's just: sad because fat, eat because sad, even fatter and sadder so more food, repeat.

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 6

Maybe, but i got fat as a kid *because* we never had food. Anytime we had it, i ate like crazy. Maybe she's scared of being hungry again.

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

That. Deeper than that. She ate because she needs to be confronted but not about the food. It's something deeper.

7 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 7

Thats nice and all, and entirely possible, but they had to skip a meal because of her. Consequences dont disappear because you have issues

7 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 6

Never said they didn't. But it's a choice- deal with the symptoms or deal with the cure. You can do both.

7 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 4

FUCK her and her symptoms the issue here is a fatty eating food she shouldn't, its not therapy hour because shes a prick.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 25

Maybe she got fucked by an uncle or a friend of the family, and it hasn't been addressed. If they're having issues getting food sounds 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

She won't ever stop without therapy, she'll just get better at sneaking.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

If she wasn't overweight but was still binge-eating, you wouldn't be citing her weight at all, fuckface.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

OK so this is how it goes. You get to shout and issue punishment. Go ahead. Better? Meanwhile the grown ups will solve the issue next door.

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

im a fat bitch and i know it, but jesus fuck im surprised by how in denial some are or just genuinely dont seem to care at all.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh, the bitch is in her mid-30s btw, lost 3/4 soon to be 4 of her kids custody. i’ld say you still have time to get your sister professional

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

help so she 1) can maybe feel better about herself since binge-eating is usually centered around some hard shit and 2) doesnt turn into a

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

narcissistic selfish cunt permanently like my cousin.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing she's bi-polar based on my experience with a bi-polar sister.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm bipolar and having bipolar disorder literally has nothing to do with binge eating

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This sounds exactly like my sister who's 20. kinda feel better im not alone lol

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If that story is true she is quite a retard and your parents are stupid for complaining to you about confrontation

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kick her to the curb, or psychiatric therapy

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

18 is still a kid.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

18 can still be pretty stupid, especially if they're sheltered. Just talk to her and ask her why she does this. Non-judgmental, and open.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hold up. Who yelled at you for confronting her? Other family members? If so, they are also a part of the problem for enabling her.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Childish, but not a child.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She sounds like a cunt

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She ate EVERYTHING?!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and EVERYONE

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like she’d rather you think she did this because she doesn’t care rather than she has such low self control that she couldn’t stop 1

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Herself. I wonder if deep down she didn’t want to eat it, and it was a battle that she lost and she can’t face her shame

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like its time she move the fuck out. 18 and graduated? You gots to go.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Im gonna get shot down but as a sibling, "fat bitch" goes a long way sometimes. Helped me.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is incredibly typical of the kind of stuff I used to read on r/fatpeoplestories. Might wanna introduce her to it so she can come to...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

terms with what she's doing and decide to make some changes.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She is 18 and an adult now. Man the fuck up and kick her to the street. If you don't she will not change. Your kids will suffer.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So a big fat shithead instead of a little shithead?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel bad for her kid

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope still a kid with that shitty, bratty attitude.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She's gonna end up My 600lb life

Hey Bud, a serious thing to consider is borderline personality disorder. It can come off as being a spoiled brat, but much worse.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does she work?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much does she weigh? Just curious.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds as if she may be self obsorbed or have a complete lack of regard for others.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

post her pic @op so we can mock her properly

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It sounds like she might have Prader-Willi syndrome.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spike the food with Laxatives and Carolina Reapers? I tend to be evil in cases like this

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

... ross?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Punch her in the face and look your parents in the eye and tell them "selfish bitch is not synonymous with sensitive"

7 years ago | Likes 113 Dislikes 13

Or say it, but don't punch her, because what the fuck man?

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

18 years old is a kid, IMO.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, you're a kid until you're 25.... and even then you're kind of still a kid.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here you go OP, the solution you so need!: /a/3Z76JBF

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In that case the parents should have immediately kicked her out of the house, while saying "We don't care if you eat"

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How soon can you move out and get on with your life?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Happened to me as well but I was the one that ate all the delivery food because we was in a bad financial situation. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

My older sister take her fries that I left when they back home and gave to me as well and hugged me.

Amen

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So she like a real life version of pear Mr. Crabs daughter! Bring home food with diced Carolina reapers. That should stop the food stealing.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It kind of sounds like you guys are low on food pretty often ... sometimes people binge eat out of fear they won't have more later.

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

Yeah. I grew up like that, and I'v kept on eating very unevenly. That said, she is still selfish.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

My sister is 21 and VERY similar. I feel your pain!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If that's true, please encourage her to seek help for her eating disorder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binge_eating_disorder

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't speak to her anymore for a number of reasons, and she is refusing to seek help anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly she sounds like my sister a little. Same age too

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell her to go buy her own damn food then

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Being 18 doesn't mean you're not a kid.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like your family has boundry issues. Your sister takes what she wants and your parents can't say no.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like the perfect excuse to start looking out for just you. Make it clear to family that if they won't defend themselves, you won't.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 20, I was definitely still a kid 2 years ago.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What a shitty person. I’m an overweight woman with siblings and if I had pulled anything close to that I would be straight murdered.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Screw her. My 14 y o sister has a bottomless pit for a stomach, and she knows not to eat other peoples food. Your sis is just selfish.

At that point, make the bitch pay for it. Even if you gotta drag her to small claims court, ram that fucking point home.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Im trying but as an 18 year old that has eaten his whole life this way its hard. Ive changes the other 4 around though.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have the exact opposite problem w/my siblings in that whenever I buy food they eat it & I'm fatter than them but I can't eat what I pay 4

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Not sure that's a bad thing for you personally, apart from the fact that you're "losing" money which you could spend differently.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a horrible thing because it's any meal I eat when they're around, but I'm not blowing through my $ solely on food 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're just inconsiderate a holes cause I'm the youngest & I never bother them for food cause if I want some I'll go get some 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What in the actual fuck. Tell that fat bitch to shove off. Next time make a bait meal full of laxitives. Enjoy that landwhale

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

That sort of thing can actually kill people https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fda-warns-exceeding-laxative-dose-may-be-deadly-for-some/

You don't load it up with a whole pack tard carnival you just put enough in to teach a lesson. Christ everything has to be spelled out now.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, but people encouraging others to put megadoses of laxatives in office lunches (instead of a bit more than normal) is too common

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...office lunches when the office worker has problems with their lunches getting stolen, that is.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give her the ol' Mustard Pastry treatment. Hot Sauce. If you wanna go far, Laxatives.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously, don't pay for her anymore. Everyone here thinks it. Your family and her aren't being helpful. Let us know what happens.

I would blow someone for the 8 dollars.

This is aweful, but brilliant

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Take her out to eat at the pig farm. My anus is prepared.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow. Downvoted for having a reasonable response. Here's an upvote to even you out.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I object to his comment because OP clearly said her actions were a problem because they don't have money. They can't just go out to eat

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If they don't have money they shouldn't be eating carry out in the first place so clearly they don't care about wasting it.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because our legal system is punitive, not rehabilitative.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

18 is well old enough to know better. Claiming them to be a child is just enabling this kind of behavior.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are a child and need to be treated like a child. Which means understanding they probably have an eating disorder.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And that at that age it's still more than appropriate for a parent to have a guiding hand.
