My college makes me pay them to do an internship.

It annoys me that neither of them is talking in the third panel.

"I am officially promoting you to the title of "Paid Intern." ... You understand we won't actually be paying you. It's just a title."

All my internships were unpaid on paper, but they always gave me a little bit of money, at least enough to pay for travel and lunch.

I got one unpaid internship and one very well paid internship. I refused a job at both. I think I am dumb.

I did a couple of short term unpaid roles after leaving university, luckily for me I was still living at home so had few expenses.

NEVER work for free! Unpaid internships are a scam, as are many of the college programs offered by universities. Do your research.

I was paid $500 for my internship - after paying $2000 for the credits.

I got a paid internship. My college said I should get credit for it. All I had to do was pay them for the credits and not get paid myself. ?

I’ve been lucky to never work for free. ✌️

Who the hell cares?

I did an unpaid internship in college and they hired me after I graduated.

Buddy was going for his PhD in astrophysics, working at uni teaching. When he graduated, they fired him, didn't want to pay him PhD money.

In Finnish UAS internship is mandatory part of getting a degree. Far as I know most don't get paid. I sure as hell didn't for any that I had

Disney XD was epic… is that even my tv show or was that one of those trial cause we had their people on our lands?

My unpaid internship was the best experience of my life, but I actually lost money working there because I ubered every day. Still great tho

Is this really a thing? Wouldn't the labour unions have the responsible politicians literally drawn and quartered? By hook, crook and truck?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nope. Labor Unions too busy playing politics to represent the worker like they should. Totally useless and a waste of time and money.

My bosses (interned for a small tax firm) paid me, gave me paid lunches up to a hour long, and even offered me a raise. They were awesome.

They even said after I get my masters and pass the CPA to hit them up. Out of all my job experiences, they were my favorite.

Wait. Perry’s an unpaid intern?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An unknown skill I discovered due to my children, I can do a pretty spot on Dr. Doofinschmirtz impression.

I've been trying to do that for years, but I have to slightly scream to get that same rasp in his voice.

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Hmm comes naturally for me, but I'm about 40. When I first heard him, I suspected he was voiced by Adam Sandler. Of course I was wrong.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I think we have to hear it

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't know how to make that happen, and even if I did I would be afraid. At best I would sound just like him. At worst it would be weird.

In my country unemployed people can have six month unpaid internships "to get to know what it's like to work in this field" = free workforce

6 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

Personally I actually liked it because it got me out of the house but there's no chance of getting an actual job from it without a degree..

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ahhh nothing gives me a stiffy like exploiting the lower class.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does your country have 350 million people in it?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 14

5,5 million

Your question is relevant how? Even the states in the US have wildly different laws.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is true. I didn't mean any offense by it.

My college had a rule that you could not gain credits for something that also gave a paycheck

6 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 3

Wow, one of the requirements for my internship was that it WAS paid, and 40 hours a week

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you go to Luther College? My choice was take the paycheck, or pay the school to get credits while turning down the paycheck.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a shitty rule. For several reasons. One, because if you're competent, you shouldn't have to pay extra. Two, the pay might have been..

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

low enough that maybe you weren't paying to do the whole thing, but you might have still been paying to keep the job

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Why is that a rule?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Because education is a business not a right

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For the record, I completely disagree with this mentality but that's the way some places view it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Greedy fuckers wanting cheap/free labor.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Weirdly the internship wasn’t even for the school

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But the school isn’t profiting from it?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They do, schools get 'donations' and other assistance from businesses.
