Add more cardboard
Soaked one brick of coco coire . Allowed it to drv out for maybe 2 days. I added dry shredded cardboard to soak up. I have wet shredded cardboard on standby if its too dry. Give it a week before introducing worms? Should I add a piece of banana peel for the meantime while I wait to settle the new mixture? I posted earlier about a new set of bucket that I iust drilled holes into. Going to sand it down, clean it and dry for a bit. I found a drill that came with a DIY rainbarrel faucet, let me know if its too bia of a hole for drainage or ideal for the top bucket for food and worms to crawl up to.

I thougjt that was a burnt pizza with French fries on it at first.ght

Looks like worm compost. The holes in the bucket allows them to stack and transfer the population as the worms move towards more nutrients. Once they transfer you take the old bucket and make compost and compost tea from the conditioned medium.

I honestly just use cheap sterlite bins without drainage or cover and they've been going fine for years. I don't like coir as bedding because I worry about not telling when coir vs castings. I'd add the peel early to get some active microbes going. I also prefreeze my scraps so they go faster and less pest issues.
