“No room at the inn” writes the fuckers who would shove baby Jesus in a bag and deport him, Mary and Joseph to Babylon.

Fucking autocorrect looks like it swapped malicious for meticulous gets me all the time too.

pretty sure there's more rapists and murderers in ICE than there are among the immigrants...

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll take the "W" but this may be more of a dollars-and-cents business decision than a principled one. The protests and noise outside the hotels where ICE stays are disruptive to other guests, who are opting to check out early or stay elsewhere. They may have done the math and found that letting ICE stay there is a net loss.

"We reserve the right to refuse service"

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Hilton brand is NOT your friend, but this definitely is a step in the right direction for them as a brand.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is unacceptable? This is the 3rd amendment. What's unacceptable is that the department of homeland security is so unfamiliar with the bill of rights.

*meanwhile, well meaning but confused Motel 6 owners remove the hotel ice machines

Goddamn it, Tom Bodette. Tell them to get their shit together.

“We left the light on, but junkies shot it out.“

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ICE is filled with rapist & murderers & racists & law breakers. Why should Hilton board filth and human waste?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s in the constitution that we don’t have to provide housing for any of our enemies right?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember that the majority of hotels are basically franchises that follow a brand-standard to put the name on their building, so sadly, this was probably an individual owner's middle finger, not Hilton's. Don't give the corpos too much credit.

Pretty sure they have a surplus of tents they can setup and stay in.

First Amendment rights for corporations means DHS can fuck itself right up their Nazi asses.

Excerpt from Lord Byron's poem, "The Destruction of Sennacherib," specifically the verse describing the Angel of Death decimating an army:

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed; And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill, And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

Third amendment motherfuckers.

Why do they refuse service, you ask? Because fuck you, that's why.

I had to scroll back up when I finally put it together that that’s Paris HILTON. On a Hilton post. I am not often accused of being quick-witted.

On top of the no ice = hot joke. I at least got that right away… I wish I could give this deeply layered comment an accolade!

Honestly....? There IS no higher accolade. nICE!

f**kin crybabies pissed that some freedoms still exist

2 months ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

The same crybabies who defended a bakery for not making a cake for a gay wedding. Sounds like freedom to refuse service is alive and well, just like they wanted.

No room at the inn? Are they equating themselves to Joseph and Mary? Or baby Jesus himself?

2 months ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 1

You're giving them too much credit. It might as well just say "BIBLE REFERENCE!" None of these knuckle draggers actually understand or care about anything in the bible.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They aren't equating themselves, they think they're better. Joseph and Mary didn't get a room either, but you didn't hear them complaining about it.

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yep. While simultaneously turning away immigrants.

They are too deep in the cult to realise it’s not Christian persecution, it’s just asshole persecution

Maybe some MAGA farmer can offer up his stables for them. Pigs love the mud.

Hilton is franchise. This may not be corporate policy though it should be. Good job on Hilton, make them stay at a no-tell-motel, might feel more at home.

I mean, as someone who has worked in hotels and known many others who ended up even running them -- many people who work throughout hotels are immigrants of all types. And that's to say nothing of potential lawsuits from guests if they are harmed on the precises, seems like to me. If you want to keep your hotels running and profitable, it seems like damn good business sense to me to say, "Fuck ICE."

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They attract protests

There's even posts on Imgur I've seen of people playing drums and shit to keep them awake

That seems like the obvious problem here, from a hotel standpoint

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Eh, as someone who has worked in hotels and has known many others who did -- many hotel workers are immigrants, from maids to kitchen staff, to front desk. If ICE visits your hotel and carts everyone off, you probably have to refund everyone. Noise is one thing, but ICE probably has the potential to economically destroy any hotel it stays in because this. And this is to say nothing of potential lawsuits from guests if they are injured by them, etc.

Suddenly I have a desire to prioritize Hilton the next time I have to book a hotel

2 months ago | Likes 282 Dislikes 3

Don't. Corporate Hilton overrode the decision of either the franchisee or the individual person who did this and is welcoming DHS with open arms.

Yeah I figured this one the work of a few lone employees and not the company as a whole.

Unfortunately not the case - they already walked it back. It was some franchisees doing it on their own and corporate yanked the leash and told them to knock it off because fash cash spends just like any other money

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right? Stayed at the Hilton in Stockholm and it was lovely. I guess Hilton gets more of my business.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I try to stay with them when possible. Rooms are always decent.

Suddenly I have a desire to start planning a vacation immediately.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

they backpedaled

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They've already changed their position on it.

2 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

gosh I hope not.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Corporate has, this decision was made at a local level.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They didn't "change" it so much as "reprimanded the franchisees who decided to have spines because the company's position is to not have one"

I'm going to Anaheim for a convention in September, and was debating what hotel to book. I'm not debating anymore.

2 months ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 1

Be sure to let them know why.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You might rethink that since they walked it back IMMEDIATELY after this. https://apnews.com/article/ice-immigration-hotel-hilton-minneapolis-minnesota-371da5e888d59c2bf66f53635aaa2acc

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd bet what this means is the hotel management canceled the bookings, and the higher-ups/ Hilton proper caved and forced them to walk it back. Hotel executives have no more morals or spine than any executives, but the people at the property level tend to be pretty decent folk in my experience.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh shit, I didn't know they were still doing it. I used to love watching it circa ~2010.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They didn't for a long time. It got kinda soured during BFA/SL, when it came out that many high up developers used it as a way to prey on their fans. The people associated with The Cosby Suite got the boot, they rebuilt the trust the fans had with good progress with WoW and Diablo, and now they're back on track with a once-every-two-years rotation for Blizzcon.
