Just had to!

Aug 11, 2023 9:17 AM

Someone posted this so I had to steal and share.

So I make no apologies for doing this! No I am not a professional!

Most viral edit: My comment when I shared with my mate was that this will be millennial funerals soon.

I decided to play this on my otomatone. Fun. I need to get better at playing it in the first place though. It fits my plinking out a single note style of musical ability (I tried to learn guitar and piano both. I managed to figure out songs, but not chords or anything) but the lack of frets/keys throws me, so I am still poopers

*About to start playing, but notices "Funky Beat" button is like... just right there* "....yeah, why not."

Now gonna have this stuck in my head for the rest of the day

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not make the 2 white so we can see it against the black key...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't make the original so I don't know!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So... you're just going to hit a single key at a time then? Not bothering with chords?

Like I said, not a professional!

I discovered this song a year ago when my mom died.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol I just played it on my broken keyboard.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait are people really making/reading song tabs like this? Or is it just how this guy does it

I heard someone play it on a church organ once. Sadly not a proper massive bowel-loosening armageddon-organ, just a little un but still. It felt like being in the emo Commitments

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That sounds awesome, love me a real organ.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, this is imgur- are you sure you want to be talking about your love of ‘organs’ here?

Absolute jam to play on guitar, too (and you know that intro gets played as I wait for the rhythm/lead to come in).

2 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 1

Not tried the guitar part as I'm not really a fan but my mate is and I knew it would make him chuckle!

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's good fun all around. I love sliding up and down the high E during that intro. Everyone knows :D

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Entire song is fun as fuck to play on bass too, and simple enough I don't need to focus on it and can hype the crowd

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

First of all, excellent username. And at least with bass I can let loose and headbang, yep. Guitar needs a bit more focus with that initial descending stretch, ha.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thank ya, Sai. And yeah fore sure. For bass it's just following along the piano once the vox come in, guitar has a lot more going on with, what are those, bends? slides? Either way takes a little more attention. Worst I gotta worry about is not reflexively going back to the verse progression when it goes into the bridge. Which is what makes it great for hyping people up, I can run around and interact a bit - which can make keeping position in the song a little hard for my adhd ass lol.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On lead? Your usual octave dyads on the A (as is pop punk's duty), some artificial harmonics, and bends. And a showman if there ever was!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love this on the drums too. Absolute banger

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hoping to skip the beginner stuff and make the Roland TD-27KV (Gen 2) my first kit. Very much have this on the list \m/

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is a very good kit. After some research I went with the Yamaha DTX8. Part of me wishes I went with the Roland, but I still love my Yamaha

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm past the point of wasting money on beginner instruments even if I've never played 'em before. I keep it all. For drums, it went from "I'll get something basic, to start" to "Eh. I can spend a bit more" to "Oooooh, digital snare!?" to "Well, fuck. Might as well get everything digital", lol. Thus, $3,500 from me to Roland! :D

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And the Eagles were late 60's you passed over a few years

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 15

This is the first single from the album The Black Parade. In an interview with MTV, lead singer Gerard Way explained that the concept of the album is "The Patient," who dies of cancer at an early age. According to Way, death comes in the form of your most powerful memory, and for "The Patient" that memory is a parade he went to with his father, which explains the album title. >>

I like the song 'cancer' but the twent one pilots cover almost brought me to tears when I first heard it. I had a YouTube mix on with earphones in work and had never heard of either, didn't understand why I was so sad until I replayed the song and listened to the lyrics.

That's written incorrectly, the rhythms are fucky.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Musical notation ignoramus here, whats the indicators it's fucky?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The 4/4 beat pattern isn’t clear. Measure 5 looks like some impossible compound meter, and measure 7 is almost indecipherable. The updated version posted above makes it clear where the 4 beats are. Compare them, and see which one is easier to find the beats.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I went and listened to that arrangement then I listened to a recording and what's written does not align with the recording. This arrangement appears to be more accurate. https://musescore.com/user/189765/scores/1143056

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I kept at the posted arrangement. I agree, the ‘transcription’ isn’t great either.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not really that fucky, it's just pretty uncommon to put a dot on an 8th note, which this pic does a lot of.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

No. The issue is if you go listen to a recording of the song, that's not what they wrote. Its just point blank wrong.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This one is more accurate: https://musescore.com/user/189765/scores/1143056

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A dotted 8th note isn’t uncommon at all. The underlying beat* just has to be visible. (*oversimplification of the rule)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fixed the notation issues:

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Idk I think dotted 8th notes are easier to read than tied 8ths

Idk dude, I've only been playing sheet music for nearly two decades, but sure, go on about how it's easier to read the same note connected with lines everywhere rather than a simple dot next to it.

I could barely read music but could memorize notes and sounds - was the best sax player in band growing up. Told my teacher the day I left the school (transferring) that and he looked at me as if he was watching the world burn in front of him

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd memorize an entire piece after one or two playthroughs and never need to look at the sheet again so I could just watch him conduct.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was never all that good at cello, but I could do the same thing. Hear it be played, play it a few times, and then play from memory.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think I could probably still play the Pirates of the Carribean medly if I still had a cello. God that was fun to play. And Secrets by One Republic.
