"About as straight as a roundabout" for men who are probbaly homosexual but won't admit it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

First time I heard the spanish one. I'm spanish

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm Spanish and never heard that one

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here's a Norwegian one: "Hæstkuk!" meaning you were just called a horse's dick. It's an insult, not a compliment you perv.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Russia is hardcore

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Кол is actually a sharpened wooden stick, not an axe. Теши - make something sharper. So not too hardcore

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have never heard someone say that "your mother mates with reindeers" in finland. Other bizarre insults yeah.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I've heard "poronnussija" but more as a joke.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

was prepared to comment this myself. thanks for saving me a few seconds that I now wasted anyway.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The swedish One is mostly used by old people and very rare. But yeah, it's weird.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I plan to start using it again.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

béka segge alatt, without the e. Also it's not used for ignorance, it's more used in context of poverty and stupidity.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, i'm spanish and this is the first time i hear this sentence about onions,,,,

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Your parents made you over a pay phone and run out of money" - very popular polish insult

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never heard the Spanish one. And yep, I'm Spanish

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The hungarian is wrong. While the translation is good, its not used as an isult towards people in itself. Its used if something is subpar.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For example "Our healthcare system is under the frog's ass." It CAN be used as an insult e.g.: "Your IQ is under the frog's ass."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In America, I've heard "dumb as a sack of hammers." I will now use this idiom to describe this list. This list is dumb as a sack of hammers.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

My family speaks Cantonese and Mandarin and I never heard either of those insults and trust me, I would have.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Going through the comments, it seems not one of this is actually accurate or commonly used. Kudos for the effort though

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Usually I just call people a fucking cunt.

9 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 1

Australian? Australian...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Works here, too.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel like cunt works for everything to be honest. To show anger and love towards one another.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What's that?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

A female's fanjita what is being fornicated with in the present tense.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh, ok. I think I've had a fanjita at Taco Bell. Do they smell funny?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Serbia's is my favorite

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Its rarely ever used. The most common are 'Picka ti materina!' And 'Jeba' ti pas mater!'

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Croatia / Serbia those are barely insults. So far as I know, you'd say those to your friends, no?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Them’s the kind a people who keep a shovel of shit on the kitchen table to keep the flies aff the butter" - Northern Ireland

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I loled at “I think we should get married soon.” –“I’m pregnant.”

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am from Bulgaria and have never heard of this insult.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Scotsman here, can confirm glaikit

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Hungarian "beka segge alatt" simply means to be a very bad (emotional, economical, etc.) state or low position. This is not an insult.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Just a few corrections to the actual grammar and writing of the phrase "A béka segge alatt". Cause e and é make different sounds...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm annoyed at the Malaysian one. It's not even in the national language of Malay. They have some interesting ones, like 'otak udang' (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That sounds like Tagalog

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I've noticed Malay and Tagalog have the same words for stuff or very similar.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Translate to 'prawn/ shrimp head' and is used to describe someone stupid.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

These things make me irrationally angry because they're never correct and yet people just keep spreading them around.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

As an Irishman myself, I've never heard that insult before.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yep. "Thick as a ditch." Or "thick as shite." Or "thick as two planks."

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

'Thick as shit' I've heard, I don't really want to give them benefit of the doubt though

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ive heard it but I wouldn't say it was one of our best

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hmm. Small world I guess.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First time I've heard that finnish insult.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

For me as well. Still, it might be an old one from Lapland, so no one but older generations there may have heard it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugly as a bag of spanners isn't too common. In england we call cunts wankers

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

Make up your mind

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A wanker can be a cunt as much as a cunt can be a wanker. Both are bloody fuckwits and a fuckwit may also be a cunt &/or a wanker.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now I'm really confused

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use it quite a lot but I do prefer 'Face like a bag of dicks' instead.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would be more likely to say they have a face for radio

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm English and I've never heard anyone say "you're a bag full of spanners" to anyone.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

Yeah I've heard it looks one English one I like is "she's so rough her teeth are sticking out of her cunt"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

v

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard it plenty here in ireland (mostly explicit variants though..)

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Face like a bag of smashed arseholes.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have an Irish friend and sometimes I call him a leprechaun

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

English and I've heard it, but it's a face like a bag of spanners.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Gå och dra nåt gammalt över dig" is not something swedes say.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 7

Ive lived in sweden all my life and never heard of it. I think it depends on wich landskap you live in

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Stockholm here, but I think it's an age think rather. More commonly used before...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

atleast not nowdays, did hear it more when i was younger.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Excuse me? I use it bi-monthly, like anyone would.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Do you mean twice a month or every other month? inquiring minds needs to know

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe you should "Gå och dra något nytt över dig" instead then.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

lul

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is an extremely well known idiomatic expression. If you don't know it, you are simply unknowledgeable.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I'd say it's a bit dated, but it's not that uncommon.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

@svarvsven you're my expert in these matters. Lol you agree?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I agree with that is a phrase used. Not that often these days, but definitely still in use.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They say it isn't used. Maybe it's a regional thing. Thank you for your expertise. =o)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can agree it's not that common to use right now, but it used to be.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You would know if it was used a long time ago, huh? ;oP lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a German myself, "Dunkelbumser" is not commonly used.

9 years ago | Likes 359 Dislikes 5

And you wonder why Germany was voted the least funny country.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

I'm Irish and never once heard that one. And I've been to every province as well

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure this post is the first time I've seen that word. 'Dunkelbumser' lmao.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neither is the english one.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, if you look at the sources you can see Buzzfeed, so kinds expected it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, Buzzfeed is cited as a source, so you can expect it all to be bullshit.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Dunkelweizen is pretty commonly used, and I'd take that insult in a tall glass.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

A German Imgurian! Mind if I pick your brain sometime? :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Scot, neither is "glaikit"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1st time i heard that word...i heard people saying they´re so ugly they only do it in the dark but that word is a foreign language for me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's the first time I've heard this. Even "bumsen" is kinda old fashioned.

9 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 1

So what do you say? Ficken? Need some German slang for sex. Danke :-)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

poppen, nageln, rammeln, hobeln etc, the list is kinda endless. German is a very creative language for this.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vielen dank... Ich liebe deutsch zu sprechen

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably only used by people from the 90s. *laugh*

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

What, were you born in the 2000's?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, 1982 ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard it mostly in the 80s.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sagt man in oberfranken häufiger

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ich studiere in Oberfranken und hab es noch nie gehört

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dann kenn ichs wohl eher aus meiner familie. Wo studierst du? Bamberg?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bayreuth, und du?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except in the poem "Bumsen ficken blasen, alles auf dem Rasen. Ist der Rasen nass, macht es auch beim stehen Spass."

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

For some reason I read that to the toon of Yankee Doodle...

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Holy crap I thought I was the only one

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I lived in Spain for ages. Also not common said. Not is bag of spanners in the UK

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I never heard that too

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

That´s just typical when people try to make funny things and invent stuff that never existed.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Exactly. Well all tho it would make sense its still stupid to make shit up

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Indeed

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

To be fair, face like a bag of spanners is a fairly common expression in england. Can't speak for the rest of them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Jugendwort des Jahres" - always complete bullshit

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Russian, the Russian phrase is certainly used (uncommonly), but the translation is incorrect. Not axe; it refers to a stake.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That´s when not native speaker try to make a post.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought the point was verbatim translation to show how silly it sounds in another language.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it would be funnier to hear the points in the languages.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just so you know, I'm reading all your comments with a German accent :]

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a Dwarf blitzer in Blood Bowl

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Today i heard it for the first time in my life (and i am 42...;-) )

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard it before but that was even in the 90s.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i like your username! and i loved zack mc kracken

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stimmt, höre ich irgendwie sehr selten... bis überhaupt nicht ;)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eigentlich gar nicht, wundert mich nur wo die das aufgegriffen haben @CitizenofCarcosa

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Naja, es heisst ja in der Grafik "20 Bizarre Insults". Und bizarr würde ich es finden, wenn mich jemand als Dunkelbumser bezeichnen würde ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vielleicht ein Insider für Frauen die auf farbige Männer steht? *lach* @CitizenofCarosa

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Diese Analogie liegt irgendwie näher... *zwinker* @TheRealR0tb3rt

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could you give us an example of a common insult?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

fuck you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Vollpfosten

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Toilettentieftaucher

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Hurensohn,missgeburt,arschloch,arschgesicht,pisser und natürlich franzose

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Most standard ones are lame, but there's a pretty one: "Arschgeige" - literally "ass violin"

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Arschloch (asshole) is probably the most common one in the entire German language space.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

i think itd be hurensohn

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

If people used Hurensohn als liberally as Arschloch around here, the city would just paint the sidewalk blood red 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

instead of washing the blood off every day. But hey, maybe your neighbourhood is both rougher and less sensitive than mine, what do I know?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Otto

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Wichser (wanker), Dumme Sau (stupid sow), Spinner (lunatic), Idiot, Trottel (fool)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trottel, Affe, Arschloch, Vollidiot. We don't get really creative with our insults.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Französisch.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 4

You..I like you

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*Franzose, I will get so much hate for this.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Obligatorisches "Hat deine Mutter auch gesagt!"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hartgeldnutte: a whore so cheap she will fuck you for coins, Berserker.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Das ist definitiv nicht ein "häufiges" Schimpfwort

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

schschsch...
