No one will care, but I found my cat after 2.5 years.

Jul 20, 2023 10:14 AM

I can’t tell you how much I mourned her. It’s kind of a miracle she’s back.

Edit: she was found by my uncle’s ex-neighbor. She was lost about 2 miles away. He was feeding her for a while, and he brought her into the vet to be fixed. She was already fixed and chipped- it was under my husband’s bachelor name and old phone number so they couldn’t reach anyone. So they called my uncle who lived there about 2 years ago to see if he knew this name. He called my dad, who called me to see if it was my cat. It was and we picked her up immediately. The people were so nice, I need to send them a gift card or SOMETHING. Like, I was crying and stopping every time I saw a dead animal on my way to work- which is about an hour away. Mostly raccoons.

Someone told me to hold out hope but I absolutely lost it after a year of searching. I should have known she would follow the coastline. I just didn’t think she’d go north. She is happy and healthy and a bit fatter (good thing!) and can’t stop with the pets and the face rubbings. She missed out on the birth of my son so is a little leery of him, but remembers my daughter who is almost 3!

I hate to be the one to say this to you but your cat decided to come home after 2.5 years.

Have to wonder where it was this whole time. Glad you are reunited. Few people get a second chance with their pets

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, where’s the story…! We need to know

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm glad you're reunited with your friend, cherish them

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work in rescue, I've seen stuff like this. Cat gets out and is "rescued" by someone who keeps her. Then kitty escapes again and is reunited with the first family.

I feel that if you think no one will care about a happy cat story, you don't know imgur very well. ;)

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

For real, though!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"no one will care" AND no story? Do you even imgur? This is our catnip and we need way more details!

2 years ago | Likes 255 Dislikes 0

Yeah, unlike on the internet recipe-pages, here we value the long sob story. Actually, people might value it also on recipepages if they first got the picture of a finnished product and the recipe. Then one could sprinkle the story amongst the glamour shots of ingredients, cooking and finnished product.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

@op, Make people happy and unhappy, tell the cat sob story in a recipe post

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, when I'm trying to measure out ingredients is not the time. While it's actually in the oven, sure

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But then people might not scroll through the 6 pages of ads of the ingredient list is at the top.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Haha I updated the post. I didn’t think it would get this many hits in my wildest dreams!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aha, thanks! Oh man, if only the people had taken her to the vet earlier! But then again, they could have never taken her to the vet at all, so this is much better still.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just kick myself for not looking down that road! It’s a bit of a cluster going south, but has all sorts of fishermen throwing bits of fish out as they skin them, so I thought that’s where she would be. We enlisted neighbors kids to help and literally went through dozens of streets, and she went north!

Typical cat!

Story time?

2 years ago | Likes 413 Dislikes 0

it was behind the couch the whole time \s

2 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

Yeah wtf @OP you can't just post this and not tell us how they came back

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My parents were babysitting for her when I was out of town on a cle. They have a HUGE garage and left it opened. We looked for her around there for weeks. My uncle who lived on “sunnyside” (about 2 miles from my parents) moved to Charleston, sc, and got a call from an ex- neighbor of his had been taking care of her. Went to get her fixed, and she was fixed and chipped. It was under my husband’s bachelor name (he took mine) so that’s why they called uncle!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh that's amazing. So glad to hear! Congrats, and hug that kitty for me

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably let it wander loose outside.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

@op story time is def required

2 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

Door was open, ran out? Taken in by another family while outside, finally escaped and made way back home?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Probably was stolen and then found chipped at the vet

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I looked at @op other posts. The confession bear from 2 years ago saying they had a baby and stated ignoring the cat adds an interesting layer here. Cat Spite!

2 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I stopped paying as much attention to my cat after the baby. Good lord the knots in her fur really started piling up. You just don't get the time you used to have

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 6

My parents had a void cat, Shvartze (I know) that moved out once I was born. She moved into a house a block up, and would sometimes come to visit, knock things off of shelves, and leave again. Parents would go visit her at her new house and bring them food and help with the vet bills lol, but the cat just had no interest in living with me. We connected once I was old enough to understand animals. She died at the ripe age of 22, RIP to that beautiful gremlin.

2 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 1

Oh my god, 22 years old is amazing for a cat. Bravo

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That is so similar to my parents cat Madeline. When I was born she couldn't decide if she loved me or hated me but one day she decided to murder me in my bassinet. My parents were against this because they hadn't got to know me that well yet luckily. Anyway, Madeline went to live with my grandparents where she lived happily. As I got older Madeline and I became good playmates and snuggle buddies. She too passed away at the ripe age of 22. Cheers!

Ahhh, murder house panthers 🩷 beautiful!

Here's a story about a man named Jed. A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed. Then one day, while shooting at some food, out of the tree line fell a bumbling fool. A hiker that is. Dead. Well, the family all said, "Jed! Move away from there! The law will come looking for you so get out of here!" Jed packed the family up and left out of there, the law hot on his heals as he escaped by the skin of his hair! Moved to California to escape the deputy, but ended up on COPS for all to see.

I like this...dark beverly hilbilies...jed shoots them, granny poisions them, jethro just straight up uses his hands like lenny in mice and men, ellie may handles cleanup in the cement pond and gets rid of the bodies by feeding them to her critters...mr drysdale handles the coverup and mrs hathaway is the one in control of it all..MWA HA HA!!!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Itks like the Fresh Prince reboot— dark! Anti-hero! I like. Justified was big, this could work! Hey, related note, I think you just about wrote the plot to season 1 of Stallone’s Tulsa King (which is actually quite good, I must admit! Waaaaay better than Arnold’s tv attempt— Stallone really can act! And the series even pokes fun at him being old, he’s an amazingly good sport for a “movie star” etc.) Worth a look imo.
