And a Ska band is when the punks were too nice to kick out the high school band geek friends

Then there's Pop Punk, which kinda takes the singer & makes sure he can hold a note & harmony. But everything else remains the same.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tommy Ramone agrees.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Hüsker Dü had 3 great artists.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I adore black veil brides. One of my top 10 favorite bands of all time. But this is them. Their drummer is the actual best.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worth pointing out that Kurt Cobain wanted to fire Dave Grohl several times.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

X has had? a pretty good guitarist. I guess X is punk?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tool. Tool has the greatest drummer to ever exist.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell Henry Rollins this. O.o

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Henry Rollins is awesome. Love all the stuff he's done. He is however, not a great singer.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the fans will fall in love with the guy with the mic and he will go on to fuck it up for everyone.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not so with X.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Henry Rollins would agree with this.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

So Greg Ginn is just ok? And which bass player was amazing?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cant think of one punk band with this makeup

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I see you, but your point is flawed. I feel this kinda represents a couple of punk bands, but not the majority.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

blink 182 is in this picture and travis barker likes it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*laughs in Henry Rollins*

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bassist Sid Vicious was well below average.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

WHARE ARE YOOOOOOU AND IM SO SOOOOOWRY

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wooooah careful there, punks have never formally acknowledged blink 182. Cheshire Cat begs to differ tho. Travis Barker is definitely great.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sometimes when listening to a Blink 182 song I tune it all out except for Travis's drumming. He's not just good, but an artist on drums.

Frenzal Rhomb ?

Crass

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't Rise Against a punk band? The most notable thing about them is the singer.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Drums for Rise Against are pretty good amd Tim is an outlier in punk for having such a great voice.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Their drummer has a degree in jazz performance from CU. Not an easy thing to accomplish.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Always thought of them as more of a post hardcore band. But dunno.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Naw their song structures are not punk, they have some punk influence but are more like alternative rock

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Germs had no idea how to play when they started.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or when the ended.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Their only album Germicide is pretty good. Then the lead singer died of drugs and they were gone.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, just jokes. I love the Germs. I loved them on The Decline of Western Civilization, too. Super influential band.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have the whole series of films, great films about the music industry and society at the time.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Technically, the Sex Pistols were a "boy band".

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

IKR!? I thought Malcom McClaren was an ass for saying he created them but he literally did.

You, always with the cool pics. Another winner

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn … time … doing time shit.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Love this Nirvana portrait.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

That is cool thx! Been a fan since the 80’s.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why would you attack me like this?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

How do you do? I don't think we've met. My name is Ian and I'm in Minor Threat.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I had a dream that he was on a dating show. At least I think it was a dream. It's so real in my mind but also highly unlikely.

4 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

The Clash disagrees...

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

They don't sound like they would have anything to disagree with.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Think whoever made this post was very much thinking punk started in the US in 1993

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

as do the Sex Pistols

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Iirc Sid Vicious couldn't even play bass, he was just given it and he learned on the job.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was thinking he exact same thing.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fat Mike would like to have words with you.

4 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 4

Otherwise I'd agree, but El Hefe has always been an awesome guitarist. Not that Melvin isn't, but he's not El Hefe.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I would say fat Mike is probably pretty mediocre all around. Except the asshole. He's good at being an asshole.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Nah man Fat Mike has mad chops, he's just super humble about them. But an asshole about most else hahaha

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He tried to sleep with my sister during the 95 warptour. Still sad she said no.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oddly enough I'm sure Fat Mike would whole heartedly agree

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Yeah … you’re right. I just wasn’t quick with wit and it was all I had.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Was in a garage rock band when I was younger. We did well, bit this was our exact band except our singer was a chick who was pretty good.

4 years ago | Likes 176 Dislikes 3

my favorite type of band.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I was the bassist whose skills often got overlooked because "I think it's cool that you're a chick bassist." No, fucker. I'm a bassist.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ain't nothing quite like a punk band with a female lead and you get those vocals that sound like a pissed off cheetah

4 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 0

Guano Apes can confirm, she rocks

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

X-Ray Spex

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

More hardcore than punk, but for that vocal concept, check out Blood Command. I'd suggest Cult Drugs, specifically.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like Heavens to Betsey?

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Distillers represent!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brutus. From Belgium. She plays drums AND sings/screams! Amazing band. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8md5x9YCLQ4

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Saw live. Drums sideways mid stage. Awesome.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuq yeah!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aw yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

???

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read somewhere that a lot of drummers from prog bands started up in punk because they needed the work

4 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

Except the Professor. His first band was RUSH. RIP. Wish I could have seen them in concert.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are a lot of prog bands?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Were. Once. Many moons ago.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because of the big bucks you make in punk?

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Punk was popular, prog was seen as stuffy and 'mainstream', punk bands were getting gigs and prog bands weren't

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More market appeal than prog, anyway.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Compared to jazz, which is where the best drummers want to be.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Can anyone recommend some good punk bands? I like Fever 333

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

The Lillingtons, Mustard Plug, The Queers, The Living End, Dear Landlord....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clowns, letlive (jason from fever333 former band), antagonist ad

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

for newer stuff check out The Chats and Amyl and the sniffers.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People would have to agree on what punk is…

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

X is pretty good. Their guitarist Billy Zoom is super talented and John Doe just rocks.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm into chick punk. Jack Off Jill, Kitty, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Peaches.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bikini Kill and Blondie

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love female-fronted bands. Thank you, I’ll check them out!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Check out Tsunami Bomb too.
