This is stupid, but I don't care. I recently bought a used ranger--135k miles--and something made me smile. I'm 23, single, I have little debt outside this loan, I've made mistakes but I've atoned for them as best I can, I'm a (one, single, poem) published author, I make very little money doing manual labor that I love, I have great friends who don't crowd me and who would die for me (and I for them), my sobriety (2 months, not my first attempt but my most successful) is still going well--no matter the difficulty--I've been tired for so long but I'm awake and happy, I'm alive after all this.

There are no words for what I just felt but happiness. Such a sweet, invigoratingly complete happiness.

I don't know guys, I just grinned from ear to ear playing ke$ha in my truck on the highway and started laughing a real laugh, without anyone telling a joke. That hasn't happened in so long, I don't know how to explain or what to say. My life is mine again.

I took a loan and bought a small, blue duck.

Maybe you were laughing at the horrible music you were listening too, or maybe you cracked.

Cheers to you friend :)

Good luck OP, keep up on the maintenance and she will take care of you. Get good tires, and quality oil and filters. Drive safe.

Whoo, Ranger amigo!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To your joy!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, in reading this your happiness gave me goosebumps and made me smile. I imagined you doing all of these things and I became happy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good for you! I hope life continues to go well!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss my danger ranger :( Enjoy yours!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You've finally cracked. It's all funsies from here out mate.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ranger is a solid choice. Enough truck to get stuff done, without being excessively expensive or large.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Exactly. I had a Silverado before--too big, got trashed because I became a taxi/workhorse for everyone and their mom

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Keeping it clean and smelling good will directly affect your daily attitude as well. Congrats!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It does, I'm a sloppy joe and never thought twice about trash on the floor. I do in this truck, for once. It's weird and stressful, but good

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 for adulting. -1 for ke$ha

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Good job with the sobriety and friendships, @OP. Keep up the good work!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Aflac ftw

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 for the ke$ha.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Came all the way down here for this comment +2 for Ke$ha

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Congrats man! If its the 4 cylinder, carry an extra coil pack, 4 plugs, the alt/fan belt and a small tool set. You'll always make it home.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love my b4000 (mazda badged ranger)! congrats on the by. These little fuckers are amazing, tough, and can get you any where if its 4x4

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Awesome. Glad you're loving it, keep clean and keep smiling! Drive to Philly sometime, I'll buy you a good cheesesteak.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll take you up on that--I'm in New England...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kick ass. I useda live in central Mass. Yell something rude at East Brookfield/Spencer/Sturbridge if you pass through.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You got it. I love this shitty place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I too have enjoyed the Loan Ranger.

I had a used ranger named Chuck the truck Norris Ford Ranger... I miss that truck.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I had a band new ranger once, nothing special, manual everything. I loved that truck. Then I murdered it one icy morning. It was a sad day.

Hue.

OP? https://media.giphy.com/media/5FTe65sKNVfEc/giphy.gif

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

A little less maniacal than Clarkson, but yes. The ranger is good. 4.3L in a v6 means POWERRRR

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

4.3? Rangers V6's came with 3.0 and 4.0's. Or the 4 cylinder 2.5. Anyhow, great job OP. Wish my son would buy his own car.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correction... 4cyl are 2.3. Also older 80's Rangers v6 had a 2.8.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good for you, dude!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

+2 for the heart-warmingness but -1 for ke$ha

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Same. I feel bad about it, too...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Don't. I still listen to Limp Bizkit sometimes and I know it's awful but happiness is worth it. <3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ranger was the only truck I ever really wanted. Too bad.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aren't they going to stay making them again? I thought I heard that...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like wishful thinking but if that becomes a thing; FUCK YEAH!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're fantastic. Had one in high school, but my brother totaled it. Got myself an '05 for the right price. I'm handy, so it's worth it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are they easy to do your own work on? I’ve always had that impression and have 10 years of keeping a Saturn running.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are great for accessibility. I'm no pro mechanic, but I had an easy job keeping our old one one going with 315k.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can you help me move this Saturday?

8 years ago | Likes 284 Dislikes 1

All i can think about is Regular Car Reviews now

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a GuyWithATruck I helped my friend move his ex out. That was satisfying.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As a guy with a truck this made me laugh and then cry.

8 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

That's why i now drive a Kia Soul

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just posted a mildly angry rant on Reddit about this question hahaha. But yeah, if you're in New England and will pay me.

8 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

I only pay with upvotes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yay, New England!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't really have a choice. Friend that asked hot me my current job. Upside is, we were moving his gf out of her stripper infested condo.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pizza and beer?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It'll only take a "couple" hours and I'll "buy" you "real food" after!

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That, my friend, is called happiness. Congrats.

8 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 0

Hope it stays. It's lovely

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

גם זה יעבור

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I speak English, german, and danish--is that Arabic? I don't understand and can't copy into google

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

truth be told is kind of a downer in this context, but it's what i thought of. it's hebrew and it means: "this too shall pass"

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh... I actually like that, though it is weird. Fine by me, that's a good quote for my current situations

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have 2 great quotes from Bojack Horseman for you. "Sometimes you need to take responsibility for your own happiness" and

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

"I'm happy for the first time in my life and I'm not gonna feel bad about it. It takes a long time to realize how miserable you are, and

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

even longer to see that it doesn't have to be that way."

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

I've been miserable for ages, and didn't know for a long time. I may still be often, but to feel happiness today has been markedly good.
