Once upon a time my someone drove up and abandoned a raggedy Anne doll outside my husband's work and he brought that cursed thing home. Check my posts for the full story
Many grandparents now were in their teens and 20's during the 1960-1970s, a period full of rebellion and revolution against "the old systems", many pushed for a kinder and more loving world. Someone who was 21 during Woodstock is now 75...
It was incredibly difficult to fall asleep while staying at my grandparents house because of the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls she kept on a chair in the spare bedroom. Just sat there staring at me throughout the night...waiting, watching.
older generations get a bad rap for all being grouchy and intolerant, it's nice to be reminded that it's a choice to behave like that and people of all ages and backgrounds are capable of deep compassion and love. Treasure your grandmother, she's a good soul.
Same for the youngins too. The handful of loud assholes make it hard to recognize that most people are generally good, especially to those around them.
My mother hand embroidered beautiful Xmas stockings for me, my wife, and our two kids. When my oldest changed her name, my mother carefully removed the name and embroidered the new one on her stocking.
Mine was both dolls in one actually. You flipped Ann over and Andy was on the other side. Your grandma rocks! Treasure her, I lost my grandma years ago and now I regret that I didn't spend more time with her.

I don't think that could possibly rank higher on the coolness scale! So wholesome!

That's great, the grandmas I do embroidery for always seem to want their grand kids names as big as possible somewhere visible on clothing.

Officially the coolest grandma I've heard of.

I also choose this guy’s grandma. If she has this much love, you know her cookies and cakes are fire.

The reference in the first line with this sweet story is hilarious to me

Definitely thought this was going to be a haunted doll story. Spooky season is still in my head.

I know not everyone gets this response but coming out as trans does give your family and loved ones so many ways to show love and acceptance.

Love stories like this. Makes me wonder how my grandparents would've reacted. Unfortunately they died years before I realized.

Pixars Toy Story was a direct rip off from the Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure movie that was released in 1977. They didnt even try to hide it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AloMFCbn4IQ&t=2s&ab_channel=TheThiefandtheCobblerArchiveOfficial

Raggedy Andy was actually Raggedy Ann's brother.

My mom just found out my step nephew will be my step niece and Mum's totally prepared to do whatever. I'm so proud of her.

Geez I haven't even replaced my last dog's name on the dog stocking with the new dog's name
TakeMeToFrontPageAndBackFiveTimesADay
This is different, dogs can’t read so you’re only doing it for yourself, not your dog. If it upset your dog, you’d have done it

Hey, I had Raggedy Ann and Andy too from my Grandma!. No idea where they went. Thanks for a nice memory from when I was a kid.
