Soldier =/= Airman. The ARMY has soldiers.

Why anyone would be proud to be a murderer is beyond me.

Lmaoooooo so when I was Marine you would hear from all the guys about how hot all the Air Force women were/are. This takes the pudding I guess!!!! Because she’s got the proof lol! Legit happy for her! Don’t get me wrong, being a woman and in the military and only hearing how hot everyone else was just makes me laugh, but now it’s truly well justified lol

NOT a "soldier". She's an Air Force officer

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I really doubt she was the first US soldier.

You go girl! Brains, beauty, and guts!

Barracks bunny got an upgrade!

I didn't know those pageants continued. She will be a smart, powerful woman.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And will be sadly reduced to pageant winner instead of all her accomplishments and, oh by the way she also won this thing that doesn't matter because she's pretty.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why did I find her more attractive in her pilot kits than that red dress. Just a thought not need to give me weird reasons.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Quite a few women in the air force get sexual assaults, proud group

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Military in general. Big epidemic of women recruits getting raped just going to the washroom at night on bases in Iraq.

if she ever drops bombs around the world, i hope she'll... ugh... miss america

well technically Airman..In the U.S. Air Force, airman is a general term which can refer to any member of the United States Air Force

2 years ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 5

*Junior Birdman

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, she's not a Soldier. That's specifically, and only Army.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Airwoman

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Soldier" means any member of any military, regardless of whether they kill people on foot, in cars, on boats, or in airplanes.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 13

I guess I'll will be the Marine that comes in to address this. No the fuck it don't.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Your formal job title selected by your employer doesn't change the dictionary definition of "soldier." A government calling some of its soldiers "marines" doesn't make them not soldiers any more than a convenience store calling its cashiers "team members" makes them not cashiers.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Definition 4 from Merriam Webster states, "One who shirks work," so I guess it does apply to the Air Force! (Just teasing my fellow vets/service members). But seriously, I guess that means we're all soldiers. Definition 1b says, "An enlisted man or woman," so she's also not a soldier by definition. Maybe we should drop outdated definitions and use context relevant definitions? So she's an airman, not a soldier.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I find it odd that people state these things like they're 100% sure about the statement even though It just one simple Google search away

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I feel let down that Space Force doesn't call them Spacemen.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am more upset they call themselves Guardians, but they don't even guard their own bases...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's quite a lame term, I think an opportunity was missed.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Amen. If they really wanted to stick with the theme, Sentinels would have been better.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tiny octopus thinks you should just call them all Wing wipers.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 9

Or Chair Force. To be fair, they do have some damn comfy chairs.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Speaking as a former squid, tiny octopus loves all of his fellow service members equally. That includes the crayon-eaters, the groundpounders, the puddle pirates , and the floatiebois. hah.

Were you discharged after losing two arms?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do they stop being airmen if they are officers or are they both?

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Airman is a designated rank, but also a general term for anyone in the Air Force, usually in a collective sense (as in “soldiers, sailors, and airmen”).

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Airmen for both

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Both. Everyone is an Airman. However, Airman as a term of address (title), is E-1 to E-4 (first four enlisted ranks). So you would address those people as airman or airman name.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

So you wouldn't address a General specifically as Airman Smith. But he might say "We are all Airman, so take care of each other."

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

No, but they stop being soldiers if they aren't in the Army

I dont get why you have downvotes. That joke is gold.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No, where the fuck did I say anything about pay? Soldiers are Army, airmen are Air Force, sailors are Navy, Marines are Marines. Absolutely nothing regarding pay involved.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

The Navy had a similar question a while back, when some officers were being weiners about being associated with the enlisted as "Sailors."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So the navy officers are not sailors? When I was googling before asking the question about the airmen stuff got very ambiguous, I guess it's because of nuance like this.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's really personal interpretation, but Navy leadership did push for an equalizing standard to refer to ALL Navy personnel as Sailors.¹

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This link has a good summary of why the generalization became so controversial: https://www.goatlocker.org/resources/cpo/whosailor.htm ²

She's white, rich, conservative, and good looking. Exactly what history is she making by being Miss America? Technically every Miss America is making history if you put enough qualifications on it.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

at least she not a whining little cry baby.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Source?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

So many incorrect assumptions. Physicist, Air Force active duty, at Harvard Kennedy school, started her own nonprofit for pancreatic cancer. For once they pick someone with capacity and we jump on the stereotype train?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Assumptions? You can see she's white from the video. Good looking is subjective but she's the typical Miss America body type. Her dad's a physician and she's going to Harvard, she got a pilot's license at 16, they're rich. Her family is from Arkansas and she's in the Air Force so they're also conservative. Not assumptions but reasonable conjectures based on the available data.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rich people generally do not enroll in military service with payback commitments, so that’s dubious. She’s at Harvard on an Air Force scholarship, so that’s also not a class indicator. And she started her own nonprofit to benefit public health, which is not the typical conservative move. What we can judge is that she is capable of succeeding at the Air Force academy, getting into the Harvard Kennedy School on a scholarship, and running a nonprofit for cancer outreach.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, let's ignore all the evidence she's wealthy simply because she's in the military. You might want to actually look into what those payback commitments are. To quote an article about that commitment "She would attend the Harvard school as an Air Force officer, with the school essentially being a duty station in her military service". So tell tell me again how being an Air Force officer means she isn't wealthy?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am familiar with the details, yes.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This clip doesn't mention anything to indicate rich or conservative (though it's definitely possible). But either way, she's a Harvard graduate so she must have some exceptional skills

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

She's from Arkansas along with her family and she's Air Force. Pretty much guaranteed conservative if you've ever been their. Her father's a physician and she's going to Harvard, she's rich.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It may be true, but from the clip here that can't be surmised. I don't like dismissing people who have gone to Harvard as rich. My friend's younger sister, who is from a low income family, is at Harvard now with a full ride scholarship, very proud of her

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm not going by just the clip, they have this thing called Google where you can look up information now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Okay, and you didn't cite anything which is why I'm saying I can only go off the clip :) Anyway my main criticism is your assumption that she is not intelligent
