As an American with hernia surgery coming up soon, I am concerned...

Nothing is free.

Weird flex, but ok.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, at least most people in America still think they life in the greatest nation on earth. That's something, right? RIGHT?

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

Some American do live in a great country, they're just not the ones who live in America

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 7

Keep weight off it, it's not a cool boot!

Skiing accident?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In US that is a $17,000 charge after sitting in the ER waiting room for 8 hours

Fun fact: the largest single cause of personal bankruptcy in US is medical expenses. In Scotland its 0%. Even with football related injuries

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_debt (yes I know it's not source but it's a start)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh... my brain? And the internet. I suggest the internet: Its easier to search and has less images of boobs.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 hours to get this checked out? Glad there wasn’t anything more serious

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

thats why it took 3 hours

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You've never been to an emergency room, I'm guessing

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes you get sorted by severity of injury, common practice everywhere afaik.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Three hours from arriving to leaving is pretty fucking quick. I’ve been in the er several times and never beat that time ever.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Its not free, its pre-paid.

6 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 16

With taxes, yes. But somehow everyone is covered for the vast majority of ailments and events.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still won't go bankrupt after a visit.

6 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 3

how is life in general over there?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Deep fried snickers

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah fair burn. We've done this to ourselves. But luckily Britain's trying to join our fire

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

True, but Scotland has more control over their situation than England & Wales.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Thank God

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Outta curiosity, y'all just kinda watching and waiting to see if we fall apart over the next year and a half?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Free huh, I bet the doctors work for free then too.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

God damn this is a full bore ignorant comment. No one thinks universal healthcare is free, but it can’t bankrupt you. See how that works?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Then why do they keep saying it's free if it's not free?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not an individual, but the country as a whole. Great! ?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

went to ER. Immediately taken to surgery. 3 day recovery. $100 ER visit. $100 copay on rest.$200 for a $43000 bill. in which my monthly

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Insurance is less than $100 a month. So I’d rather my insurance company get stiffed than my fellow tax payers.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Out of curiosity. What ways do you think universal, and our current system differ? Does your insurance have multiple people pay? Or just you

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Universal, all pay different amounts. the lower paying use the ER more to fake pains.. etc to get drugs. Overall raising the cost overtime

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Currently system everyone pays the same per their status.. single, married, kids etc.. and are far less often to abuse the ER to obtain

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Drugs they don’t necessarily need or wouldn’t already be prescribed by a health practitioner.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You realize it’s not “free”, right? You ARE paying for it. Up front, instead of after.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 10

I don't think anybody ever realized that. Good that there's always people like you explaining it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Holy fucking shit. No one believes universal healthcare is free numb nuts. Why is this even a republican talking point. So ignorant.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

You’re funny

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Wasn’t trying to be. Free at time of service is what they mean. They aren’t raped by insurance companies or dented care by them.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Just raped by the government.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Considering I pay roughly the same, or a little less, than an insured American spends on HC, and I don't have copay, and everyone is insured

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Denied’

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I was being sarcastic numb nuts. Idiot!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

"Nah it's not free you pay by your taxes" ~ A mandatory american comment for this kind of post

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 7

You're too late.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's true.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

And we did know without your help, you know that, right?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Fair enough, so quit calling it "free". Simple, right? The point is that nothing is free.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

No one thinks it’s free. Holy fuck. Why is this a talking point for republicans? It’s massively ignorant.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Really? Look at the first meme fuckwit

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"Free at the point of service" is a bit too long to say, so maybe we can expect everyone to understand that's what's meant.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

just like op didn't actually forget his healthcare is 'free'?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Free to use. Everybody in the world understood what it's mean, except some kind of american.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I have no idea why republicans bring that up every fucking time. They are getting railed in the ass by insurance companies and loving it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No fucking duh it’s true. Literally NO ONE disputes it, but low and behold there are about 10 dumbasses making that comment on here.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You can’t be bankrupted by it. How do universal/single payer differ from our current system? It’s people collectively paying towards others

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If necessary I will work only for cash that way none of my money goes for things I am against.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You sound lovely.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Healthcare costs, the difference is that there isn’t a countless mega insurance companies making ungodly profits off of you and denying you

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Care for little to no reason. They aren’t even middle men. They literally stop you from receiving care, or not paying. It’s a scam.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

People eventually run out of money. Also, I will not pay for others to get things I am morally against.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

If you have insurance you already are. Guaranteed.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have private health insurance or pay taxes? If so, you all ready do pay for others to get those morally bad things

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“It’s all free.” Been paying for it your whole life. More than you know.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Hmmm. Almost like insurance in America, except there aren’t countless mega insurance companies taking ungodly huge profits off the top.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And glad to do so when seeing what's happend in USA.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Missed something I guess. I put more money in the bank each month than ever before and my insurance is dirt cheap. US is great imo

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why is dirt cheap for you when so much people complain of the price e for them?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think they’re lying tbh. But I don’t actually know. I don’t know anyone in my friends or family that are complaining

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I must have missed it. I'm in the US and my Healthcare is phenomenal and cheap. My employer pays for near everything.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No they don't. The money they give could go in your pocket. But I assume you're glad they negotiate good health insurance for you? They 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do have better price because they negotiate for a higher number than you alone? Surprise, that's what's happen in Europe too. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Similar but it's not single payer so our doctors get paid more, care is quicker/nkcer and much more innovation happens.
