but I alreqdy have to cats, who act like I'm failing then

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If I got a pet every time someone failed me I'd be a cat lady.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

If by people failing you, you add "for the last time" be careful to select Shelter Pets that share your disregard for human life. So cats.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I dunno. My shelter dog was abused the first half of his life. He is permanently fucked. No fixing it. Just gotta make him comfortable. :(

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't tell me that, I'm about to hit up the shelters right now. Lol

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would but I'm not allowed to have a fucking pet!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did this and I would die for my dog now

6 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

Don't, it needs you, alive.

Okay, I'll try: "Hey, Mitsy. The Steelers can't score for shit. Get out there and take over for Roethlisberger.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So long as you're able to care for someone other than yourself, this makes perfect sense.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When you healed you can abandon them too, they are used to it ;)

Holy crap the self righteousness in these comments, take it easy mrs.You. Mrs. Betterthanyou.

This

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This is terrible and toxic advice

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

How did I get these 30 dogs?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is fucked up advice. Jesus.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or both of our toxic traits trigger and play ping pong of toxic behavior.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

That's what I did. Got a trio of guinea pigs. Theyre so stupid but so cute

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is GREAT! I hope you don't mind that I shared this! Blessings!!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And this is why I have 2 dogs and 3 cats that are obscenely spoiled, all rescues. One is trying to eat my hair as I type this.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shelter pets can be a challenge but it's worth it. Adopted a 2 year old stray cat. Took us a while to get to know one another, but once we

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

did, I felt like we'd both gone through a transformation.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Only two more months and I change to a job that will allow me to to have a dog again and I can't wait!!!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Just like you to play the victim card while watching someone else drown

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately shelters can be assholes (i tried several times adopting a buddy, rejected all the times.)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To clarify, this doesn't mean for comfort food. They banned me from the shelter for life.

Go to china next time

Trying gramma Wong's family recipe, huh?

Plenty of shelters in the sea

What the fuck, karen

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I get that you need to be in a stable enough position that you can care for the pet, but for some people, getting an animal helps them 1/

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Help themselves. You go out of the house to walk your dog. You pet your cat when you're sad and you feel better. You don't kill yourself 2/

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Because you know your pet needs you to care for them. For some people, getting a pet keeps them together. That's what my dog does for me.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Getting a pet because you're depressed is a bad reason to get a pet. Get one if you are capable of giving them a home and end of life care.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Getting a pet means you're committing to taking care of them through their last days and that's incredible difficult for most people.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

2 words: VET BILLS. :-/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only get a pet if you have the time and money required to give it a good life.

6 years ago | Likes 1025 Dislikes 5

So the people that downvoted this, you are going to starve your pets and fuck them up?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd love to have a pet. But neither the time/funds at the moments

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh, I have the money, but never the time! And the place I live at doesn't allow pets of any kind, so cats are out too.

@ReverendDel

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For real. If I followed the post directly I’d be adopting dogs CONSTANTLY

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is why I don't have another pet

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“If you cannot provide for their needs you are not rescuing them, you are relocating them.”I have had this conversation with a client before

There should be pet-share services that send you home with a dog or cat for one week a month or something

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Good idea for the humans, stressful for the dogs. Better to have something like a cat cafe or dog hotel, where the humans come to the dogs.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's called 'fostering'. :)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want to get a cat, but then it would be lonely when I'm at work. So I guess I need two cats?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cats don't get lonely, they're not like dogs

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

In fact if anything they hate sharing space with another cat usually.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Why stop there?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, very true. But you can also volunteer there. A lot of dogs and cats need to socialize, or are in need of a nice walk or good brushing.

It is my favourite thing to do on my Saturday afternoon. Cat cuddling. I got over the bittersweet goodbyes quite early. Success stories now.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I would love to hear some stories, maybe you could do a post about your experiences?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't know if I have enough pictures. They are wiggly little buggers and I love them all. Especially if they claw at me. Just need love!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When my grandma's dog died, she went to the shelter and found a dog whose person had died. They were both depressed, but found happiness

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

together

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People always talk about how others have failed them. Has anyone considered that they're also failing others? You could be harming that pet.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been told by multiple therapists that this is a bad idea.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Ofcourse they say that, they want to keep you as paying patient, no desire to heal you!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 11

Any reason why? There's a lot of evidence that suggests pet ownership is really good for people.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think the reasoning is that you shouldn't ignore the mental needs of a pet if you're not capable of st least managing your own

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

i have a cat. I love him dearly, but I don't want him to be with me when i'm depressed, as I forget to feed him... much like myself..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Maybe it just depends on the person. Taking care of my dog helps me care for myself, or at least gets me moving for her sake.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree. He helps to have something for company

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's your address? We need to get that cat out of there now.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My parents help...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I should probably clarify. I don't think i should be with him alone. I live with my parents, who look after him when i don't
