Certain species of birds can master the skill of mimicking, reproducing the sounds exposed to in their environment.

Only way that could be any better if he was at the window barking at whatever with them.

Gorgeous pups! <3

Think how messed up it would be when bringing someone new home, and let them hear that bird bark before seeing it.

Barking out of both ends

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's probably why the doggos are still barking

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

there is a mole between us...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not sure if three barking animals are enough to scare away that squirrel!

Funny looking dog, what breed is it?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something shat on that chair….. not pointing fingers or anything

Lmbo. Well, with 3 identical dogs, it is difficult to discern which one may have done it.

Australian magpies are pretty awesome. I befriended a family in my neighbourhood and they all used to hang out in my bird bath.

Except during swooping season. Then they're bastards

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, that's one reason you befriend them, they're far less likely to swoop you because they recognise you as a non-threat.

ok but how do you keep a bird from pooping on everything?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the neat part...

Corvids and mynas including starlings are very good mimics.

Let's be honest: Mynas *can* be good mimics, but mostly they're just assholes.

Had a starling this summer mimicking a car alarm all summer.

I had one near my office that would mimic the commuter train announcement and I fell for it more than once

Trolled by nature

They mimic other birds well enough to confuse ornithologists

My silly furry friends bark at the front and back door when they hear a dog on TV.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

PS they also run out the back door to bark at trucks that drive by on the road out front of us.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a magpie. Unless my eyes are cheated by some spell.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Australian magpie, which is actually a kind of butcher bird.

Nature can be Hell. But I do love Nature.

The last thing I need is a bird that barks.

3 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 2

Doing work at a house and kept hearing the smoke alarm. I asked the owner if he checks his alarm, he said "its the bird, my wife cooks alot"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a crow in my town that does. Was so confused the first time I heard it, trying to see if there was a stray dog somewhere.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i'll take a barking bird over a bird that shits all over my white furniture. white cloth furniture probably wasn't a good idea in retrospect

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

how about a bat that laughs?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coincidentally it's the first thing i requested.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How about a cat that barks?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yoink

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's the sound I make after I've been constipated for a week and finally drop the kids off at the pool.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great part is you could show this remix to a lyrebird and it could probably repeat it back to you verbatim.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have one, and it makes you smile on dark days. She’s ridiculously entertaining.

Oh gosh, I can try. She stops as soon as she sees me with my phone. I’ve been meaning to try, I’ll see what I can do.

Hide it in a box

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A new box would be suspicious. I was thinking I’ll use footage from the home security cam. She’s used to that.
