MrJohnWick
I love Watkins Glen.
AxelBeingCivil
The CCC was one of the best parts of the New Deal. It absolutely needs to be brought back and expanded.

Where is this I am unfamiliar with the name. It looks really cool tho.
Upstate New York. The Fingerlakes Region. A truly stunning, and beautiful part of America. Great local food, and wine, as well.

The deli across the street is amazing! And there's that whole racetrack thing too.....

jtthemediocre
Good wine country too.

Used to be a series of mills built up in the Glen - hard to imagine.
It's when you see where the flood damage in the Gorge that destroyed the Mill Industry. Just a few feet below the lip.
opticsdontlookright
That CCC sure did make a lot of beautiful things
An incredible organization.
One of the best parts of the New Deal, really.

@OP I was just there last week! Place is out of a movie!
It's almost unreal. Like something out of Riverdell :)
I honestly though I was lost in time! Are you visiting from another state?
Gizmophaze
Go down to Ulster County. Check out the rail trails near there.
Will do. Thanks :)
That's where I live... You can get some fantastic shots at the one they just opened in West Hurley on rt28
I look forward to checking it out :)
First ever Front Page. Thank you :)

Thanks for the Neutral Post to rest at OP :)

@sunandmoonfarm2107 Is this upstate NY? There's a race track there with the same name, I think?
NelsonbNelson
Yes, more in the middle of the state.
servingmytimeinusersub
Same town
Yes, in the Finger Lakes Region. Well worth a visit! :)
Hey neat! Thanks for posting this, I'll see if I can find a slightly more frozen-over version the next time I'm in the area.
runner630
that's a beautiful park, one of the many over looked by people who think of NY as NYC
I live in Central NY. I've never even been to nyc
My wife and I were blown away by the entire Finger Lakes region, and we live in Upstate New York :)
Frankiejoneston
/a/uODWQio hey I was there earlier this year! Found a Pic of the same bridge. Yours is better though.
Also I had just gotten my new phone and wanted to play with the slow motion..
So annoyed that my phone takes better pictures than my two Canons :)
Great pic :)
Thanks!

The nature in New York is overlooked sometimes, love seeing some appreciation.

The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 by the State of New York amid concerns for the water and timber resources of the region. /1
Today the Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, greater in size than /2
Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park combined. /3

They don't say Ithaca is Gorges for nothing.

How the hell are you not swarmed by crowds of people? Every time I’m there it’s packed as hell.
obviouscommenter
Was just there last week - one of four ppl on the gorge trail
ginabc
i was justttt gonna say that
End of the Season, post Peepers. I passed no more than eight people on the last half of the walk.
Still crazy. I live near there and I’ve been at every time of the year and there has ALWAYS been a crowd.
BobbyMillsfromAChorusLine
Have to go early morning. We go Memorial Day weekend. Hike at 7am. No one there. So peaceful.
Man, I must have terrible luck. I’ve been there at 6am and still hit crowds at the best views. Gotta keep trying I guess
SyrenKindra
Oh hey, I've been camping there when I was younger. Really pretty place. Broke my arm.
Ouch!
Yeah, it was quite painful. Skidded down a gravel slope in the campground while on a bike and crashed headfirst into a tree. Splintered /1
part of my right forearm, got a concussion, and ruined my bike helmet. The break was minor though, only took 5 weeks to heal. Luckily the /1
tree I crashed into was conveniently placed right next to where 2 paramedics and an EMT were camping.
Ha, very lucky about the paramedics. And rathe the helmet, than your head!
