10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not one 'err' are you sure that's Dara?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love this guy, everytime I see him on Imgur, I upvote. Sad I don't see him a lot.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Search YouTube for "Mock the Week"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

some of his gigs are on youtube, hes absolutely brilliant at stand up and his interaction with the audience is the best of any comedian.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dara is ridiculously funny.

10 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 2

I love looking for British television, even though it can be hard since I'm American. Mock the Week is great; and Dara hosts it to boot :D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of the funniest men on the planet, and absurdly nice to boot.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and smart

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I went to one of his shows last month, I got stomach pain from the non stop laughing. His delivery of jokes is world class.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I think part of what keeps you laughing is that he can improvise so well, so you don't expect it, so its even funnier.

SNL did a skit in the 70s about 4 blades. MadTV did a basically the same skit in the 90s with 20 blades.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

As soon as i realized the joke, i immediately thought of SNL. The joke is over played now.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

*3 blades, sorry.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Back when MadTV was actually good.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MADTV did it first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjAZnGeBcgg

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Even better though is that 3 blades was the max at the time, IIRC.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This also predates MadTV by 2 years apparently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omTCrwHQMcw

Safety razor with one sharp blade.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'd use one of those if I wasn't disappointed with the size of my dick or the unslicedness of my throat. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Safety razor, not a straight razor. Safety razors are super easy to shave with. I knick myself far less than I ever did with a cartridge.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh well shit I need to read better I use a safety razor damn

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I was the Milky Bar Kid."

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Get to the top of the fuckin' comments chap!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I met Dara once at a comic signing here in Dublin. Fucking great guy. Also we share the same name!

10 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I didn't know of any O'Briains besides Dara and Dara's father!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

my name is Daragh so I kinda do too :D

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hi Dara

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The pub lord? (I know who the pub lord is, this was just one of his jokes in his last Ireland tour)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

whats your name?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Dara. Same spelling and everything!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wooosh

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dara the Explara.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did anyone else read this with his accent?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Accent? Dara hasn't got an accent.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's definitely got an Irish accent

10 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

And then I thought, oh maybe he doesn't have an accent. I wonder if anyone else did that

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heard it in his voice :D

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

Especially the "click. Vroom! It's gone!" bit. I now have to go watch this whole special again.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know his voice but for some reason I hear a UK accent.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

He's Irish :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVxOb8-d7Ic

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But he tones it down a little for British TV (MTW)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wasn't I supposed to capitalize the B in O'Brian? God damn it!

10 years ago | Likes 440 Dislikes 14

Nice work spelling it correctly in the title (without caps) but not in your comment (with caps). You haven't gotten it correct yet. :-)

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Bad luck Brian

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bad Luck briain

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You could also spell his name Dara Ó Briain. Interestingly, that's where the American name O'Brian comes from.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Whats American about it? Its an Anglisation of an Irish name

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Fair point. Non-Irish version, then.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an Irish person, it depends on the person really. Also, isn't his band O'Briain?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op this is one of my all time favourite standup shows, thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Briain.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Briain

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Judging by the number of upvotes you got, you really capitalized on it.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think its a shame that OPs have to apologize and ease the crowd with every mistake they make on this site. Its disgusting to say the least

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was just about to ask how to pronounce his name o.O thanks

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

O'Breen

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Dara consistently spells it the Irish way, i.e. Dara Ó Briain.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Imagine if he spelled his first name the Irish way, Daragh can be so hard for people to remember

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But isn’t Daragh only a variant of Dara? I think Dara’s Irish as well.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are, yeah, but Dara is considered different even though it's just the difference between west and east/north.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah thanks, I didn’t realise they were regional varieties, I just thought they were variant spellings like Jon and John.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try Siobhán.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I wonder how many guys have asked an Irish girl's name and the accent made them think they were being told to get lost... "Shove on!"

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We'd mainly be confused by the use of the term "shove on"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I never thought of that! Wow! XD

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You also misspelt Brian but sure ;)

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

Nope, his name is actually spelt the way OP has it in the title. It's pronounced Oh-bree-in.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Stupid attempt by me to appear funny. 0/10 will not try again.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Sorry. I didn't cop that. :P

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Actually in the title OP spelled Briain correctly. But it is Dara Ó Briain.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I know stupid attempt on my part to be funny I won't try it again :(

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'm a self-loathing Grammar Nazi because I can't spell. :( I think I came up with a new Bad Luck Brian meme.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

don't worry, the irish language is a complete and utter NIGHTMARE as regards spelling

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are you sure you don't mean Bad Luck O'briain?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That double text was just my phone being stupid.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His actual name is Dara Dara O'Briain. You can Google it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know, I've seen him live a few times and met him once. I was hoping me correcting Brian would be seen as the sarcasm is was lol

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

All well and good 'cept that Fusion shave is WAY smoother than the Mach 3 one. Just saying.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

But still massively overpriced compared to a regular safety razor with nearly free disposable blades.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Idk the comfort makes the difference.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The regular safety razors pull at my beard, leave me with ingrown hairs, and cause me to have to go over the same patch of skin 3-4 times.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds more like a technique issue than a problem with the blades. Watch some videos and give it another shot.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Some people have more sensitive skin than others. Fusions use the 5 blades as 1 big blade for less irritation. Increased surface area, etc

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always thought for those with sensitive skin, the best method is quality prep, lather, and fresh sharp blade. Shouldnt be using a blade

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been shaving for 23 years. My technique is fine - the 5 blade razors just make life easier.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Have you tried dollar shave club's 5 blade? Its 9$ for 4 blades, may be worth a shot if only to experiment.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh, the technique for a safety razor and cartridge are different but to each their own. Go with what works for you.

equally specific reference in a very specific episode of a very specific show about a very specific company in a very specific country.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

For the Americans, from his topic panel show Mock the Week

10 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

And the rest of the world apart from the UK... I'm pretty sure it's only us that have the Megabus.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Actually it appears the same company (with the same logo on the back) runs the Megabus here, too. A friend takes the bus back home...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Are lucky enough to get the MEGABUS!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...every so often, and recently I decided to check if it had the same advertising. Sure enough, when we went to pick him up, it was the same

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very specific reference to a very specific thing in a very specific episode of a specific show. Good Luck America.

10 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 1

As a Brit, I can't remember if it's Mock the Week or QI. I'm guessing Mock the Week?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mock the Week yes. Youtube the segment if you are interested, very funny.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*very specific reference in a very specific episode of a very specific show about a very specific company in a very specific country.

10 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 2

Haha... we have to go deeper!

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't think that Canada, the US, UK, and EU count as a "very specific country"

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

The EU sure as shit doesn't, but how exactly do the rest not qualify?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because they are more than one country. Three countries, actually.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Is mega bus outside the uk???

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Megabus Europe is mostly in the UK, but has limited routes in the rest of the EU. Magabus North America is pretty widespread

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Canadian here. Mock the week?

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Yes. There is an episode where they mock Dara for looking like the mascot for a bus/coach transport company called Megabus (google it)

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I've seen every episode of mock the week, I remember this one. Really stopped watching it tho after Frankie left the show.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's megabus in the US, Canada and EU. It's not just a UK thing

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

mega bus woorld wideeeee *whispers* wide.. wide.. wide

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 upon googling it is a British company but expanded. Thanks for the prompt, wiki page is interesting.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for the correction. I had no idea since the mascot design reminds me so much of Toby jugs which are very very british.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does it have the same face on the back?
