Ordered something of Amazon that ended up coming from Ukraine, it was packed with a Ukrainian newspaper. This is a screen recording of Google Lens translating the front cover.

on iphone you can now select the 'text only' from a photo, paste it in google translate. Wonder if the translate option is there already.

Woah.

I love this but can’t help but fear it could be used potentially for propaganda some day.

It's still a google translator. You can always tell someone is using one if they write more than three words

Woah, theyre even resorting to Belt Defens?!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's "Kremenchuk strengthens defences", not "displaces". Get it right, google.

Fascinating thanks for sharing

I think you can change bit to Ukrainian instead of detect so it surest change as fast. Still impressive technology can do that.

I remember when optical character reader software was a new thing. This is quantum leaps beyond that.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember buying OmniPage around 1994, before it started to be bundled with scanners.

Unless it's improved A LOT in the last year or 2, these things are still incredibly hit or miss. Like the difference between Duolingo when-

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I use it fairly often, it's pretty decent, and the "capture" option makes sure you don't have to stand still like a mannequin lmao

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

-it first got up and running, to the latest generation. I saw one of these in a youtube video and that shit was hilarious how off it was.

The headline about learning to handle weapons was particularly chilling.

Definitely!

Google translate is just for laughs. Instead of improving their online stuff they think they are Apple and launch a lot of crappy shit that

Are retired months later.

CLEAN YOUR FINGERNAILS

I had no idea you could use a google app to translate stuff, that is cool as hell

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was originally an app called WordLens that Google bought years back, then they incorporated it into the Google Translate app.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is dope as hell, I added it to my phone, This is gonna come in handy for sure

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It can be quite hit and miss, but it's fairly accurate when it does work!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow that’s a useful app

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

I prefer Microsoft’s version. It’s been around a while and it helps my grandma who can’t see.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

it was originally the Google Translate app,I still have the old version installed on my phone, it's awesome. Can translt convos in realtime2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It really helps with menus while on vacation abroad too. Lets you usually know what animal you're eating at least.

Been around a minute, used it in Spain in '12. Worked about as well back then.

Saved my ass in Brazil when they wanted me to sign some documents. Turned they blamed something on me that I did not do.

I used it daily when I worked for a manufacturing plant that used Chinese machines. Fun fact, "alarm" "calls the police" and "is married"

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The alarm is synced to an outside signal processor, what's weird there?

Can all translate from the same Chinese text, and I suspect that's indicative of some things about Chinese culture.

It has its drawbacks. I got it to translate a russian mycology book. unfortunately the mushroom names dont translate because they have 1/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

completely different names in russian. so what me might call a milkcap, they might call a lions balls. (not a real example) but there were 2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

some I was able to visually identify with completely different names being used. its great for direct translation, but not when the names 3

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

used do not match the ones used in other languages. Thats the only hang up. It works great in most contexts though, and is super neat. 4

9.5 million hryvnias?! that's so many hryvnias!

4 years ago | Likes 353 Dislikes 2

It's about 325,000$

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know right!

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Freaking classic!! Well said clever person.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I mean what’s a hryvnias worth these days? Like $10?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Each one is only like 3 cents...

4 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

So around $285,000?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey can I borrow like 9.5 million hryvnias?

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

No, just, just consider it a gift. We get into the whole "borrow" thing I'll always be expecting hryvnias, while knowing; no hryvnias for me

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can borrow a pocket full of sunflower seeds.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

So it’s worth nearly 30 million

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

30 million cents. That's about $300,000

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Nope, sorry math boy, its 100,000,000 USD.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 17

Lol what?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
