Last week it was 110 degrees. Stray cat in my apartment complex has 3 kittens. Came home to see this one panting and crying, all alone.

She was the runt and mama was nowhere to be found so I brought her in for "a few hours." I fully intended to give her back to mama once the sun went down.

By the time the sun went down I was in love. Still couldn't find mama or any of the other strays that I usually see.

Figured she was getting hungry. Guy at petco said she was like 2-3 weeks old. He hooked me up with some milk and stuff and told me that any shelter would probably euthanize her bc she's so small and that if I put her back outside she'd probably die.

Sorry for the selfie. This was the next morning after we visited the vet. She had intestinal worms, fleas, was malnourished and dehydrated. I had freaked out bc I found blood in her poop that morning. He said she probably would have died if I hadn't taken her in.

Second trip to petco: collar and toys.

It's been a week since we met and I'm completely in love! I'm keeping her.

I've seen mom and the other kittens here and there. The other kittens are twice her size. I haven't been able to catch them and I'm afraid to call animal control bc I don't want them euthanized so I just leave water out for them. It's still really hot here and I'm not sure what else to do.
I just love my little kitty and wanted to share =) I've got about a month or so before I start my new job and she needs a lot of care so the timing worked out perfectly.

Tl;dr I got a cat!

Minor edit: when I called my apartment manager to inform her that I got a cat/told her about the strays, she asked about the other two kittens. She said she would try to catch them and have her daughter care for them as she has experience fostering kittens.
I can't afford more than just one so I can't take them in and I don't want animal control to put them down... I'm not totally sure what my other options would be. But yeah, I totally get what you guys are saying

5am edit: you guys are awesome =) thanks for all the kind words and advice! I've never had a cat so I'm still learning as I go. I'll post more later today once I get her weighed and stuff.
Also, sorry for potato. Most of these were from Snapchat and I didn't realize how shitty that looks on pc til just now.
