That DeLorean pretty much licks the SUV's side panel.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But it's a delorean so it doesn't run anyways

Tall hit their head getting in short people tend to whack their heads when closing them. Gullwing doors suck for both tall or short people

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For those who care. Top speed is over 120mph even with 130hp. They get 30 mpg. They are reliable if driven regularly. Owned mine 17 years.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tortured it delivering pizza for 2 years. Just maintain your damn vehicles. Still runs great after 35 years out of production.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

130 hp. Never meet your heros...

9 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 4

Never catch your heros either...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When it actually works*

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My dad delivered cars back in the day and told me they were uncomfortable, and sucked ass for power.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

LS swap. Game over.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you're probably right, the Chevy small block seems like a winner, but if you actually did this, you'd need some better brakes, too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard of a kit to use a Chevy 4.3 or something. Made them easier to stomach.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

There have been a number of swaps using LS series, NorthSta, Ford Superchaged v8's, Buick Twin Turbo, VolvoT6's, and Subaru 2.5 STI engines.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's the same as my Focus I believe.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dunno, man. I met Bruce Campbell, and he was pretty awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*heros other than Bruce Campbell. Sorry, please meet him, that's totally a good thing to do.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's totally fair.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still about 70hp more then my first car...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

(and my second.. and 3rd, and equal to one of my current cars ;)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

30 more than my Saturn on a good day.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

It still wouldn't run rings around you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But it would look 10x cooler while doing it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

88mph is actually it's top speed

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

My car only has 138hp (when it was new) and I can get up to 133mph

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I own a DMC. Top speed is 120mph+. Power-to-weight ratios are a thing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Okay, take me seriously, then. It's not like I was making a back to future joke or anything.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh I got it, but soooome peeps might actually wonder the actual figures.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All cars should have gullwings.

9 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 4

Or wider parking spots... jus sayin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All gulls should have car wings.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gullwings have problems with low ceilings and not being able to get out if the car rolls over, among others. Suicide doors are better.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I thought they were designed to pop off after the car came to a halt and it was inverted.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On the SLS AMG they pop off. DeLorean had kick out windows. Tesla X has normal doors in the front. It's a pain for car designers.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed. It is a safety issue though. Mercedes had to install explosive bolts on their SLS in case of rollover

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

My dad had one until summer last year and as fancy and amazing that car is the gullwings are really impractical in everyday life.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

And also out of curiosity... did he switch over to another glorious creation brought to us by German wizards with engineering degrees?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No Italian for a change but we still value and have German masterpieces of engineering in the family.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How so?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Parking spaces mostly. And it's a sportscar an my parents are getting older so it wasn't really comfortable and enjoyable to drive longer

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I envy him, I absolutely love the SLS... did he make money on it? Curious because from a car meet/show I want to it looks like value went up

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually I'm not sure, I'd guess so but I don't really meddle with his financial affairs and all that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Edit: I just asked him and he said in did indeed increase in value

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I should get a deLorean.

Did you know that there is a factory that builds brand new delorean, with old stock parts. That's true.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The company is owned and operated in Houston Texas. DMC of Houston.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can buy a brand new one. The manufacturer still makes them on demand.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lol I wish I could afford that!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Change the engine and pretty much the rest aswell

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The engine is not why I'd want that car :-)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My neighbor has one rotting in his yard. He doesnt even like them, just bought it cuz he know theyre rare.

9 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 0

Ask him if he wants to give it to me, and send it to me in Denmark :-)

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

I want one, so i can immediately customize it BTTF style

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Immediately? There's no such thing. Doing a good BTTF customization takes a long time :-) Worth it though!

Volvo and friends made that 'family vehicle tier' engine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Incorrect - they were limited to 135. Even though the speedo says 85. But, yes underpowered and took a while to get there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why you LS swap it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Is it a good car with an LS to actually drive? I wouldn't want to do a project like that then not want to drive it daily for 10 yrs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the way God intended it to be!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but but but... how will they go 88 MPH then!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

seems reasonable that the doc made some after market modifications.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

88 < 100, or so I've been told

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

i was referring to the older models lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh. Then downhill.
