It's probably trained, but my golden used to play a pretty complicated trick on my other dog so she'd leave the food bowl and he could eat.
How did he distract her?
Well she liked stuffed animals and treated them like babies. My golden would pluck their eyes out etc., which she hated. So she would 1/
guard the food bowl and glare if he came near. So he would go find one of her "babies" and take it to the top of the stairs and make 2/
plucking noises with it. She'd hear and come running to rescue the baby, and he'd run and hide it before she could get up the stairs, 3/
