Great now I'm hungry and have to decide if finding food is worth getting out of bed or not.

Walk in to see delicious Swedish cinnamon buns. Stay to try and read gibberish.

My husband is Swedish. I’ve learned to make kardemummabullar for him but have yet to learn kanelbullar. Thanks for the recipe. 1/

Hopefully google translate doesn’t fuck it up ;)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a knot.

Name is relevant.

I just watched the YouTube video first. I think I understand Swedish. Very simple recipe too.

I am allergic to cinnamon. 10/10 would die to eat one though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

anyone have an english recipe... google translate version included the phrase ". Spread the chicken fillet onto the dough"... I confuse

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Watching the YouTube video you should help to fill in the blanks from the weird translation.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

www.swedishfood.com/swedish-food-recipes-biscuits-cakes/104-cinnamon-buns personally I use more cinnamon, and some cardamom in the filling.

We spread eggs, stirred, and "pearl-sugar" on top of the buns before putting them in the oven

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know what sugar syrup is, but it sounds waaay to sweet

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How are they different from regular cinnamon rolls?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They originated in Sweden (close to OP) or denmark. The danish ones seems closer to your jizzrolls. Anyway, these are the regular ones.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Fan, ser gott ut. Du verkar också förstått konceptet med att inte snåla med det goda :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

How tf do you confuse swedish with french? That's like confusing spanish and english...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's a little amusing though:D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Norwegian skoleboller.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Might have to try making these, they sound tasty based on a quick Google.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just wait until you have tasted the vanilla custard.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mmm real egg custard is amazing. I'll put these on my list of things to try, cheers. :)

What are those Rock looking Crystal bits on top? Is that like a kosher salt or a crystalized sugar?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, nib/pearl sugar. I couldn't buy it anywhere, so I made it like this: http://whilehewasnapping.com/2015/02/how-to-diy-pearl-sugar/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Crystal meth

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's granulated sugar

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's pearl sugar. It's larger than granulated sugar.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh these kinda look better than the finnish stuff. Is the brown stuff the same, i.e. butter, sugar and cinnamon?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This recipe also has almonds in the brown filling.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are the more "normal" ones, but the ones from OP looks way better.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sure is!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh boy!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP, on the recipe is the Mandelmassa almond flour or marzipan? We don't have that in the US.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Marzipan is 25/75 almond/sugar. Mandelmassa is 50/50. I guess you can just buy pure almond butter and mix in sugar.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used half sugar half ground almonds instead, seems to work.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's marzipan based, but since this is baked many use perzipan (basically marzipan for baking), I did notice there are no marzipan candy 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the US, but surely there must be stores that sell this essential food stuff?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was able to find almond paste on amazon! Success! Thanks for your help.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're welcome.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it true you have a national day celebrating these?

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

Apparently we have 674 "national" days this year, and that seems to be the ones upcoming. Including "Cheese doodle day" "Tomato sauce day"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. Wednesday.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coincidence or fan of onsdagskage?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Paczki? I used to hate February... Now, I look forward to it...I'm a fat, fat man.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, it's a fake day made up by businesses to sell buns, not an actual tradition.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

All those days are made up by someone. We don't mind eating buns.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's sad that you can't see the difference between actual tradition and commercial interest.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stop describing holidays in general.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's sad that you can't see the difference between actual tradition and commercial interest.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tradition (The transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, of course. Kanelbullens dag (the cinnamon bun's day ) is 4 October.

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

The 4th of October is Animal Day in the Netherlands. Just thought I'd mention it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You eat animals on the 4th of October?½?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Actually 4th october animal day is international. Swedish animal rights activists usually combine world animal day and cinnamon bun's day.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indeed!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

By selling vegan cinnamon bun's.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it means coffee break

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FIKA IS A BREAK YOU TAKE EVERYDY AT 10 OR 15 TO EAT SWEETS. IT’S AMAZING.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Excuse me? You take a scheduled break to eat candy and cookies??! What country is this? And how difficult is it for an American to live ther

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

YOU'RE EXCUSED AND MOST WELCOMED TO SWEDEN

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AND*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Often we do both ????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was going for the "not or, and." I guess it didn't work.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's essentially just a snack break, comes from old time "backwards slang" of some sort. Coffee/milk and some light snacks such as this.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Fika is not snacks

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Lack of a better word and limit on letters. Don't argue semantics.
