Confused

First post. Don't know what to do. Maybe you guys can help? I am depressed and don't known how to cope. I have a blossoming career: international corporate tax attorney, decent income, gorgeous wife, great in-laws, great family, but I'm miserable. My choices when I was 19 prevented me from pursuing the career I really wanted: US Air Force pilot.

I've gone through the process of accepting the consequences of my actions. However, it's tough when my father-in-law is a retired Air Force Colonel, was a flight surgeon for an F-15 squadron at Langley in the 80s, and I was pushed into law because "the world will always need lawyers." FUCK THAT. I know I should have pursued my dreams, but I'm torn between a high income and materialistic desires and bring comparatively poor but enjoying my career. Plus, I'm 30, and at this point I can't tell my wife I don't want kids because that's unfair to her (she's wanted to be a mother for as long as I've known her). Additionally, we don't necessarily enjoy spending our free time the same way, but I love her.

I'm lost. And I'm sorry for the sob story; I hate reading them on here. I'm drunk, I'm sad.

How did you guys even end up married if you can't be open with each other? It's a wrong fit.

Go to work. Provide for your family. When you're 50 and rich you can get a private pilot license and fly to a ski resort every weekend.

Dreams suck to lose. Kids are stressful but can be fulfilling too. OP, maybe focus on the little things that you enjoy investing in? Hobby?

Leave her & pursue your dreams.. Harsh but fair. You will regret it every day of your life once it's not an option..

It's not a simple situation or solution... Happiness is important. So is honesty. Communicate. Talk with her- you're partners, right?

I was in the USAF. It was stupid and pointless. Divorce rates are high and there's always the possibility you'd have been killed. 1/?

The govt takes from it's people and gives little. Granted, I'm retired at 40, but it devoured 2 marriages and a handful of friends 2/?

You have the freedom to change your own life without checking with your chain of command. You want to fly? Do it. Get a pilot's license. 3/?

I got one. Private flying is awesome. There's literally nothing stopping you from making changes in your life, and being more adventurous. /
