Correct the Southern Democrats were the racist ones at the time with direct links back to the Confederacy until Lyndon B. Johnson a Southern Democrat "betrayed" the party and ended segregation. At that point those same Southern Democrats switched party to the Republican party. Just look up the history of Senator Strom Thurmond.
