My problem is I'm wide like benswolo so my feet are already on the outer edge being shoulder width apart.

I usually jus skip leg day

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like my feet about should width apart while I sit on a bar stool enjoying a few cold ones and watching futbol. My quads thank me.

Goofy foot ftw

Came here expecting comments from squat elitists, wasn't disappointed. Leg press is great, so are squats, go figure!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

This must be wrong, there’s no image saying to put all the 45s in the gym on it for one pathetic rep

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guy I'm too scared to watch this video about locking knees. Can someone just tell me what it is. I feel the pain of other through watching.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love this. Very well made and accurate. I been needing this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you say low foot placement, do you mean like having a Michael Jackson are you ok Annie lean low?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do not do calf raises on a leg press! someone i knew did it but his shoes slipped and the press went along his shins removing the skin

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I ONLY used the leg press for calves so as to not tie up the powerlifting rack, but legs above the knee, Squats, deads, lunges only.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Pilates Reformer with the jump board attachment is my favorite way to work these muscle groups. IMO, much harder to hurt yourself.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... no

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where's the stance where your feet are misaligned and one foot is higher than the other?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I refuse to use the leg squat machine after seeing too many legs snap the wrong way. Now I only use standing squats on the rack.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Proper leg press is the squat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to max out the machine 250lb with each leg 30 reps 3 sets

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The other day i had the perfect in between and got my whole upper leg and ass

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you have someone that can teach you the correct form; do free weight squats (back and front). Way better!

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 6

Herniated discs don’t like squats :(

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thank you for phrasing it that way. So many people online blindly say YEAH BUT SQUATS ARE BETTER without thinking there might be a reason.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Even if there are good reasons, most of them just want to take pride in 'taking the harder road'.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why not do both? Gotta get them gains, son!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm not your son, pal!

I didn't notice the first time but she broke both of her legs

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The correct form is to not use it unless you’re already very strong because you squat or you’ve good orthopedic reason for not squatting.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Low foot placement puts extra stress on your knees. Be careful with that one.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awesome! I've been trying to grow my inner thighs

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you don’t like leg presses, have you tried the “nut cruncher”? http://scarysymptoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/1-1-300x300.jpg

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This is the most mis-used piece of equipment in the gym, all training staff have to tell people daily they're using it dangerously.

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Can you give examples to a newbie

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Also set the hard stop so it can't crush you

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ah yeh, that's an important one. People don't like being crushed to death, really dampens their workout.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Psht that's how I warm up

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm perhaps not the best person for in depth advice but main wrongs are: locking knees, inappropriate footwear, piling weight on too 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

high (usually just laziness as the jacked guy doing 300kg used the machine before you). Test the weight with your heels first. 2/2.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've been a gym rat for five years now, and in that time there is no other excersize machine more dangerous than the leg press machine.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It honestly did not occur to me that the placenta of my feet would affect which muscles were used. Today I learned!

8 years ago | Likes 277 Dislikes 6

Mmmmmm foot placenta

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the fucking placenta ????

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How you press with your feet (heels/big toe/outer toes) also has an effect. Simplified you can think: heels = hamstrings and vice versa

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

=)))) thank you for the laugh!!

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Tell me more about this foot placenta...

8 years ago | Likes 274 Dislikes 0

There was a brief moment where I questioned my understanding of the word "placenta." Then I read your reply and was like *phew

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Hello everybodey!" - Dr. Nick.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Placement damn it. It’s late and autocorrect hates me

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Babysmooth feet?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Haha placenta

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You wrote that typo on purpose and now these idiots will believe you didn’t. You’ll play the dumb card and get upvoted. This place sucks

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 17

Could try caring less about upvotes

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You give me way too much credit my guy.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've been scared to use a leg press ever since I saw some dudes leg bend the opposite way.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

or just barbell deadlift and squat - you'll get the core activation and overall stability as well.

8 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 5

And for every 10 plates you have to load onto the leg press, you only gotta put 4 on a barbell for the same results.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

absolutely. but leg press saved my life when i had a shoulder injury and couldn't use the barbell.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Me too, but finally got back to barbell squats. Use a towel wrapped around bar to pull bar against traps. Not enuff flexibility in shoulder

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also use a bar attachment called Manta ray squat pad. Helps tremendously.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ditto, but a lower back problem

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree with this poster.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah but. When your gym just has Smith machines, I'd rather not.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Idealy you benefit from having someone who can teach you proper form for barbell lifting. it needs to be done correctly.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

From that sentence, I infer you don't know what a Smith machine. Also, I used to squat all the time, but can't due to equipment. But ty.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

From your reply, I infer you can't read. I just stated it is beneficial to have instruction before starting barbell lifting.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Poor bastard. Nothing beats barbell squats!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yeah i tweaked my back the furst and only set i ever did on a smith machine

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Find a different gym.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It's not "either/or" - leg press is an accessory exercise, not a replacement. That was the entire point of this post, how to isolate muscles

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Can you tell me a movement in nature that 'isolates individual muscles'?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You can easily build legs by only leg pressing and not squatting, so I don't see why it would strictly be an accessory.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yes. However the squat is a compound movement that focuses on legs, but incorporates core and stabilising muscle groups in the posterior and

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anterior slings. It's a superb all round exercise for strength and conditioning. The leg press isolates these muscles as shown above, which

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is great for bodybuilding or progression after injury, rarely any use for 'real' strength gains, that the squat is more efficient at

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It pisses me off so much to see dip shits load this up and then do half assed reps like they're some fucking bad ass. No. It's fucking sad.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Haha yeah and they're just grunting like they're going supersaiyan while not optimally working their legs at all.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Dont bring negative vibes in to your existance dude.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Listen. Any hate I have at people in the gym is more fear of people being hurt near me. Because I don't want to stop my routine to help 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a dumb shit that can't get it past their ego that lighter and better form is better to start. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Or you know I'd rather people lift something they can handle, correct form, to avoid injury. But hey sure "hate"...????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really was mostly joking, because you seem so tense.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've just seen far too many people hurt just to show off. Like life altering injuries all to just inflate their own ego you know?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I totally get it. I get the same way when I see people riding motorcycles without protective gear. It's pretty upsetting.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mad bro?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes because they can't handle the weight and that's how injuries happen. Dipshit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But why you mad bro? Let them lift how they want. How do their injuries affect you? You just mad.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I used to be a trainer. Loading up a machine and then half assing it asking for trouble and people near by will help. It can be avoided.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So stop being a fucking idiot.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why you so mad bro?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Don't lock your knees!

8 years ago | Likes 879 Dislikes 7

one time with 45lb dumbells over my head i FOR SOME REASON, locked my arms and let the weight sit on my shoulders. it slipped out of socket

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or just don't do leg press.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

Had a freind who did and cracked both his kneecaps

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever since the gifs I've seen I've been terrified of walking down the stairs because I extend the leg and it feels like it'll snap backwards

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL I've been doing it wrong for years. Also, fuck that GIF.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My butthole clenched at the mere thought of someone doing that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still have the stretchers coming out of my hometown's PF once a month-ish from people who do this. Generally spikes early in the year.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Thousands of people flocking to the gym with new years resolutions to get fit, but they've never even seen a leg press before in their lives

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rule #1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if you do, please tape it for us. (hello from liveleak)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if you're afraid someone is going to steal them?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

pretty much don't lock anything. ever. you want to stress muscles, not joints

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

That's broscience. Not locking recruits fewer muscle fibres and stresses your joints more.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think hes talking about fitness in particular, not everyday use...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's the GIF about? I want to sleep tonight so I won't click it.

I'm confus. Did OP delete his own post or are the mods WHO HAVE ALLOWED THIS FOR YEARS, suddenly not OK with it?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I posted two GIFS in reply to @PanderousOne. Had a msg from Imgur that they marked them mature for me so they'd still be visible. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now they've been deleted. How in hell do you mark a comment as mature? I just linked old posts, they weren't my uploads. Dunno what's up 2/2
