So in exchange, you got a big fucking zero.
Not even requiring the unmasking of ICE agents. Zero, nada, Fuckall.

Its more than 8. 8 were selected due to them not seeking reelection and can be sacrificed to take the blow of anger. All 8 and others are getting kickbacks for this plan, which came from corporate sponsors. This is the only time the "both side" argument applies. Sure, 1 side is definitely a bunch of a nazis trying to kill everyone, but the other side is letting them.
Progressive dems who openly talk about not taking corporate money are the only ones you can vote in, if they let you vote again.

A dumbass liberal in my local discord chat says it wasn't zero. SNAP gets funded through the next year without interruption.
I'm like, great. The Democrats gave up their primary objective for restoring something the Republicans already had funding for. How the fuck is that a win?
Lappyrat92
ahernandez
That’s not true. We were able to get some sizable donations to our 8 worst senators.
khora
Where are all the republicans in this image?
Flodos
It's not stupidity. Nobody is that stupid. They are traitors, they betrayed you, and they are getting away with it because most of them aren't interested in re-election anyway, so they can happily get bribed without any consequence. You do NOT hate democrats enough, traitors are worse than enemies.
RadicalRecluse
its fine. republicans are fullfulling an 80 year long goal of demolishing the social democratic state and replacing it with a christo fascist white supremacist theocracy, dems are just complicit.
an entire generation grew up in the 90s being told how great and wonderful and totally at peace with itself the USA is. 'please dont look at the seething bigotry and fascism boiling under the surface' until you wake up one day and "there are good pepole" on both sides and one side is nazis
CambreathdTheSecound
it's not "why are we that stupid" it's "time to get PAYED b***h" They are going to go on to better payed shit if/when they got voted out.
And the rest of the Dems will just point at them and "there was nothing we could do" and then it's business as usual. Everybody (in political office) wins.
Firestar002
We got played. Ugh! Damn those 8 to hell.
Witters84
Dems as controlled opposition keep rotating bad guys in the party to cave in, as needed. Some are not up for reelection, others retire soon.
freshthrowaway1138
This is all quite terrible, but the reality is that the GOP wasn't going to give in on anything big. They just don't care. Chaos is good for the GOP retaining control.
We should use this as an anti-GOP campaign point in the midterms, not anti-Dem. People will suffer but it's about time for Americans to suffer for their poor voting history. It might sound harsh, but US voters need to know that they are in this place because the GOP put them here. We need to get voters to end the GOP.
quasisentience
Are the 8 being called out, ostracised or excluded from any further Dem collaboration?
Muffyns
i feel like the united states has 1 political party and all of them are pedophiles.
squigglebaketerraform
They couldn't be more different, One side is paid off to go on being their usual evil selves, and the other is paid off to pretend to oppose. Total opposites!
NZSheeps
I'm waiting to see which one withdraws their signature for releasing the Epstein list
fillerbunny9
It will probably be a completely new rotating villain, who conveniently will also either be retiring after this term, or not up for reelection until 2028.
Chereazi
Republicans were able to end the shutdown any time they wanted to without giving Dems shit.
Turn on your brain and think why they didn't do that. Ever giving into the pressure to start the shutdown was a mistake.
MaximusUltima
No they weren’t. They needed to overcome a filibuster to reopen the govt.
If the Dems didn’t cave, either the Republicans would have had to accept their demands to extend the ACA tax credits, or they would have had to get rid of the filibuster.
Both of those things would be losses for Republicans.
Chereazi
They can get rid of the filibuster with just 51 votes. So yes they could.
MaximusUltima
Reread my comment.
Chereazi
You said republicans would have had to cave if dems didn't reopen. And no they wouldn't have had to, just getting rid of the filibuster was a way forward, which they could have done whenever they wanted.

So many spoiled and privileged kids in the leftists movement that have no idea what this nation was just 20 years ago.
UndulatingTerrain
A war mongering country committing war crimes abroad and spying on its own people?
SisyphusRollin
And... and.. or is this the limit of your knowledge? Nothing positive has happened? Nothing good? You guys really don't have a grasp, its very much the "I WANT IT NOW" generation of bullshit. You guys have no idea, like you know Schumer has been fighting to raise the fed min wage since 94 right? But hey, who cares about workers, lets focus only on the things that help my narrative.
SisyphusRollin
You're also describing every single western nation with this comment. :)
SisyphusRollin
Remember when we were losing the Ozone layer and the US had to ban a bunch of chemicals, man I wonder if it was the GOP or the DNC that pushed that? I wonder why kids in LA can breathe, is it because AOC did something decade+ before she was born?
SisyphusRollin
I have gay neighbors who adopted a child. According to you, thats nothing to be happy about. The Patriot act exists and we shouldn't celebrate anything like that, if they revoke Gay Marriage you'll be fine right? Its nothing to celebrate, its not something that was done by the neolibs (specifically Biden). right?
Hortman68
It should read.. "Why are we that corrupt?".

Posters should be made of this with the caption "Why you don't have health insurance"

Ah fuck these guys. What the hell

Fetterman should just bow out silently and fade into total obscurity. What a disappointment he turned out to be.

They got a delay. Bad news, given the number of votes they have, like it or not, that is the BEST the Ds could do.
Thanks to MAGA morons and jerrymandering the GOP holds all the cards and they are heartless enough to just let kids starve. Those 8 Ds were chosen as sacrificial lambs to move events forward.
This ain't over. Make sure next November there's a real Blue Wave.
eion85
And if that's true Chuck Schumer should still resign from leadership.
REOJackwagon
No it was NOT the best they could do. Schumer chose to fold right when we had public opinion on our side and just won those elections. Giving up was IDIOTIC. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/07/government-shutdown-vote-latest-senate
jammer909
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is what they do best.
glovelyday
Public opinion is irrelevant since the next election is 12 months away. If you havrn't noticed the GOP congress NEVER breaks ranks. This stalemate could have lasted another 12 months, and as shitty a deal as it is, it's the best the Ds were going to get until over a year from now with the next Congress, IF then.
NKato
Doesn't matter, the blame was still squarely in the hands of the GOP up until the Democrats caved. The moment they caved, it became the Democrats' shutdown.
This was NOT a political masterstroke. This was political suicide, or at worst, controlled opposition to give the appearance of a functioning democracy.
glovelyday
You don't know what it was, only time will tell. What is certain is you don't have all the facts, just your frustration, which serves no useful purpose.
NKato
What's certain is that Chuck Schumer threw all the leverage he had away. Again.
I'm sick of him, and I am sick of the establishment Democrats behaving like a controlled opposition.
We need a *real* opposition party, and brother, this sure as shit ain't it.
