It was time to change the towel in my foster kittens’ den, and it’s also the time to name the kittens!!

I polled a bunch of my friends, and took some suggestions from the Imgur community, and came up with four possible naming conventions: Gemstones, Flowers, Springtime, and Easter. There are two calico girls, one orange boy, one tuxedo boy, and one all-black boy. Let’s look at the options!

First up is Gemstones.

For girls, we have:
Jewel
Gem/Gemma
Ruby
Opal
Emerald
Jade
Pearl

And for boys, we have:
Onyx
Jasper
Moonstone
Topaz

Next up is Flowers.

For girls, we have:
Blossom
Ivy
Buttercup
Clover
Honeysuckle
Petunia
Tulip
Daisy
Magnolia (Maggie)
Poppy

And for boys we have:
Bluebell
Sweet Pea
Daffodil
Dandelion
Elm
Zephyr

Another option is Springtime names.

For girls we have:
Petal
Primrose
Willow
Persephone
Meadow
Raindrop

And for boys we have:
Arbor
Bud
Hunter
River
Cypress
Scamper
Bambi
Thumper
Duckling
Brook
Hopper

Finally, we have Easter-themed names!

For girls, we have:
Bunny
Peep/Peeps
Spring
Sugar
Pastel
Chick/Chicky

And for boys, we have:
Bunny (could be for a girl or boy)
Cadbury
Peep/Peeps (again, an androgynous name)
Egg/Eggie
Cottontail
Peter
Reese/Reese’s

Thank you SO much to everyone who suggested names!! I have been overwhelmed with options and have tried to pare it down as best as I could!

Please let me know which naming convention is your favorite, and then your favorite names within that theme! I’m ready to stop calling them by their birth order!

Easter!

Bunny & Chick

Peep, Eggie, & Reese

Flowers is still my vote! Also could add Gladiolus (Gladio) to flowers for a boy :)

Another Easter option: Paas

My vote is for the springtime names. Meadow and Willow for the girls; Scamper, Hopper, and Thumper for the boys. Because they rhyme and I'm easy to please.

Mama has to be Biscuits. I stand firm on this. Mrs. Biscuits, if you're fancy.

How about people names ? That way, if their human has to leave work, they can say Frank called and needs me at home 😋🥰😂🤗. 🤷‍♀️

My vote is for flowers!!

First, it gives lil frank a chance, as he can be Mr. Dahlia Frank thanks to the suggestion of @Ineedtochangemyname (everyone is happy!)

For the two calico girls I would go with honeysuckle and petal (I know it's a spring name, but it's flower related)

For tux boy I would go with Mr. Dandy Lion, and for void boy I think Zephyr is pretty snazzy.

Spring (and Frank)

I'm still a fan of springtime options. Of these I like Petal and Primrose for the girls. For the boys I like Arbor, River, and Cypress. All kind of refreshing not-too-disney nature names. ☺️ Exciting to see what you end up choosing!

I love all the choices with the Springtime names! Really love Willow, Meadow, River, Cypress, and Brook

It would be blasphemous if I didn't vote for gemstones!

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I like the gems or flowers. Not crazy about the springtime or Easter names

Springtime... and Frank.

Just so you know, there is a type of rose called the 'frank red rose''

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before I hopped on the Frank train, I was going to suggest naming one of the girls Kevin. Would that be better?

Things served at a barbecue:
Frank
Beans
Corn
Burger
Steak
Chips
Potato salad
Watermelon

Honestly I just want ornj boy and void to be called Frank & Beans.

Oh! And mama should be Magnolia!

Maggie for short!

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Springtime names! Favorites are Willow and Meadow for girls, Bunny or Thumper, Hopper, and Frank for the boys.

You could hit Easter, Flowers, and/or Springtime themes by using names of rabbits from "Watership Down": Hazel, Blackberry, Dandelion, Bluebell, Hyacinth, Cowslip, Nightshade, Frankenberry, etc, etc, etc ... and Fiver for #5!

Frank's Climber and Mr. Frank and the names of flowers, fyi.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Give them all human names. Nothing funnier than telling Keith that human food is not for him, or telling Frank to cover his poop cause it stinks

We tell Peter to get off the counter constantly

Frank's Climber is also the name of a rose. I just found that >:)

@op! FRANK IS THE NAME OF A FLOWER!!!

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Baby 1: Prim(rose)
Baby 2: Cypress - solid choice, strong sturdy name
Baby 3: Frank
Tinay bebe 4: Persephone (maybe Percie for shortening?)
Baby 5: Arbor - Springtime names for sure are the way to go imo

I'm late to the party and I don't know enough about Flowers or Gemstones to offer an opinion on them, but I spent 19 Years with a delightfully cuddly Tuxedo named Bunny, so if you do decide on the Easter theme, my vote is for the Tuxedo to be called Bunny!

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Awww!!! Bunny is an amazing name. And to call a kitten that?? Cuteness overload

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

She would sleep every night snuggled in the crook of my arm. Of course she acquired many other names over the years, such as; Terdmatic 2000, Jelly Bellied Smelly Alley-cat, and Ceefur. ("Oh right. C for Cat." "NO.")

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Ahh yes. What would our pets be if not for seventeen nicknames we call them?

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The Rat Pack! (Frank Sinatra, etc.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_pack

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Or, as someone suggested in another post, Rocky Horror Picture Show... because... F R A N K ! !

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

@KittensForDays, there is only one true solution…

First calico is Janet.
Tuxedo is Brad.
Orange Frank will go on to get his doctorate.
Second calico is Magenta.
Finally, the void is Riff Raff.

And Mama can be Dr. Josephine Scott.

This is the way.

The following flowers are named Frank:
Pelargonium 'Frank Headley' is a reliable old fancy-leaved pelargonium, with pink flowers contrasting silvery green, variegated foliage.
Clematis 'Frankie', an RHS award-winning cultivar, offers charm with its broad, bell-shaped flowers in shades of light to mid-blue that appear in early spring.
'Frankie': Floribunda rose, 2001; flowers light mauve with pink edges [pb], deep pink reverse, single (4-11 petals).

It's a perfect name!

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It has been foretold

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Youll just have to name him Frank online, his secret name can remain offline

11 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

That’s apparently what I’m going to have to do 😂

11 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Nooooo do one of the Frank flowers! Compromises for everyone! It's win-win! 😆

These are killing me hahaha you HAVE to adopt him and make him Frank

This has been the funniest mess to follow. Team Frank!

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If you went with 'herby' names, (Rosemary, Angelica, Basil, Cicely, Majoram etc etc etc), Frank could be used as a diminutive of Frankincense .... just sayin'

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still like the idea of MASH names. I mean there's already Frank. And Momma could be Coronel Potter.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Yes. Frank it is. It has been determined.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Okay maybe I just really want Frank to work but I think a litter with names based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein would be perfect. Frank, Shelley, Lacey, Felix, etc.

11 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Or Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein and you can add Abby Normal to the list. Haha
