Big life win

Sep 25, 2018 5:40 PM

I have only been in one relationship prior to the one I’m in now, and my last one was emotionally taxing and mentally painful, but this ain’t about the past. I have been friends with this girl since I first met her, and was sad she had a boyfriend, but yknow Brocode. So later during the summer when I only had one college class, I went to the beach with her A few times a week, and when I found out she ended the relationship with her (ex)boyfriend, I was super happy. I waited the appropriate time to ask her, but I chickened our, and this past Friday I got the guts to ask her out. Her response was “I would love to!” This will probably die in usersub, but I am keeping it quiet from her friends and my friends because we want to keep building our relationship. Just wanted to tell y’all at imgur TL;DR - chickened out asking best friend out, finally asked and she said yes. Edit: Holy shit guys! The amount of love from all you is amazing! Thank you so much!

congrats on the future sex

I hate it when people say “this will die in usersub”. Comes across so needy and self-depreciating. Other than that, congratulations!

I did this to a girl I knew for 2 years and she stopped talking to me altogether

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You've already built the relationship. Just go kiss her. Do it right now. No, really. RIGHT FUCKING NOW. Go! Let us know what happens.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair play @OP you’ve had the courage to do what I’ve been trying to do the past 2 years, good work

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey man! I wish you the best of luck to try, I have to give credit to friends on imgur and close friends for telling me “go ask already”

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am so very very happy for you.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m trying to reply to as many as I can, thank you very much!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats and good luck on the relationship building!

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Because the reason you don't go after a girl with a bf is the bro code and not because you respect her decision to date someone else

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, the dude is not my cup of tea but in a generalized statement yes, I respected her choice of who she was in a relationship with

Out of the friend zone and into the end zone :)

IM. SO. FRICKIN. HAPPY. YOUR. EXPERIENCE. WAS. SO. MUCH. DIFFERENT. THAN. MINE. @OP.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for sharing your happiness with me, I know I could always reach out to any of you guys and y’all would help, so I thank you :)

She was waiting for 4 months, but she couldn't do it herself, right?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s awesome! My best friend knows me better then anyone, and he is scared of getting into another relationship. I wish he wasn’t.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I definitely relate to where he stands, I was like that for 2 years, but it all changed when I met her but I will send prayers out for sure!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My 2 best friends started dating and i hate it cause i was in love with one of them. Im happy for them, but fuck does it hurt my confidence.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I feel you, same scenario happened to me. My best advice is move on and look to date someone who isnt a friend, then you wont chicken out

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is bro code slang for being a normal decent human? And how has she not asked you out? She just decided to wait because guys need to do this?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Met a girl in college, got the nerve to ask her to a movie. While waiting for her to show up she called to reschedule due to her fiancé

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

If you say so ?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 months of wasted boners

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I asked my best friend out. We dated a bit, but seriously fucked our friendship up.

7 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 1

Yeah I learned that one from experience too. Don't shit where you eat, kids.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah. Asked out one of my best friends recently and she hasn't talked to me in 3 weeks. We normally talk every day. I done fucked up.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this is why a lot of ppl friendzone. I personally have to many ppl bc I love them and I’d hate to lose them in my life, and it worked

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

better than to love then to have not loved and wonder

7 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 1

This.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It can really feel like a betrayal when you think you're friends and this gets sprung on you.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I dated my best friend and we broke up. We’re still friends but it’s...different and sometimes that sucks worse than not being friends

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's such a high stakes game. Been dating mine for 2 years; if we fuck it up it seems impossible to go back to being just friends.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I dated mine for 2 years, I think we did it. That was about 2 years ago now. So time will tell I suppose

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let 15 years pass. I’m best friends with my “college gf”.’

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dated a good friend once. We're no longer friends :(.

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Dated a girl, became friends after, became best friends for 4 years, got back together for 3 more, then she left. I wouldn't recommend

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It doesn't always work out. But it's worth trying, in many cases

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah I don't regret it but it's a sad outcome.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why don't more girls ask guys out? Waiting for the guy often leads to missed chances and wasted time. Ladies ; grow some fucking labia.

Too late. The words were uttered. Soon people will be wrapped in fleshy labia shawls& cuddling up on the couch under cozy labia blankets.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What have we wrought upon this world

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A whole lotta shit worse than lady part nomenclature, you weenies.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, like full body shawls made of labia. It’s not the nomenclature, I’d make this just as weird if it were regarding testicles.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dunno how other girls feel, but I didn't fall in love until 20-21 and I'm told leading someone on when you're not certain makes you a bitch.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Women typically have significantly more options than men, so there's no pressure to ask a guy because some other guy will ask you out

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"options" have fuckall to do with it. If a girl sees someone she fancies, she should go for it. Success rate skyrockets. I know.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a woman. I don't wait for the other person to make the first move. I get dates. It's kind of Duh.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While true, I've been told that finding a good date is just as hard for women. A lot of the 'available' guys are iffy or downright scary.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My beat friend as a girl dumped me becaus she said it felt wired.that was in 2010 now she likes me again and I plan on asking her out again.

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 11

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

your the safe bet just let her go

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did you have a stroke while you wrote this?

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Uhm. You’re aware she will 100% dump you again right

7 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

Maybe he’s plotting his revenge and will dump her at a romantic restaurant on their 11 month anniversary?

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

8 years? I would be scared. sounds like a dopandier from deadpool.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ehh rather focus on school at the time and I skipped my prom to go to comic con. Met will Shatner

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only a short amount of time had passed I would agree with other commenters that trusting her not to repeat history isn't the safest bet..

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

but 8 years is a LONG time. I can't even fathom being with the person now I was with 4 years ago. Circumstances can change & people can grow

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

a lot in that long of a time period. I'd say go with your gut & if you feel like this is something you want to take a chance on, go for it!

What?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wut? Why would there be an age to have a beat friend?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Lmao what?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't know best friends had age restrictions?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Godamit. Beat was corrected to best

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so what was stopping her from asking you?

7 years ago | Likes 404 Dislikes 8

+1 for reading my mind

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I asked out my guy friend. We're now getting married (he popped the question). Ladies, if you want it, go for it!

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Fear of rejection usually does it for me.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cant blame him or her at all, every close friend i have had that i expressed an interest in i have completely lost as even a friend.

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

The very same thing that stops the guy, except there is still much more pressure for the guy to do it in our current culture.

Gender roles

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Social conventions

7 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 9

Fuck those.

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

That's a shit reason

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

BS. My fiance was the one who ended up asking me out first. Zero problems there.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 11

Your logical fallacy is: Anecdotal Evidence.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Just because you didn't experience it, doesn't mean it's not a thing.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Fear of rejection. Much better for the man to deal with that burden.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 19

hell hath no fury

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

This. If the bitch couldn't muster enough courage to ask him in 4 months, she might not be such a good catch...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How so? Cause guys deal with it more? All the more reason for women to learn to deal with it more often

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was a sarcastic comment

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

but aren't women supposedly equal to men in every way?

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

What. The. Fuck?!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was a sarcastic comment

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Wheeeeew, thank fug.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really. Men have much higher suicide rates, and I think it's because of lots of little things like this.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It was a sarcastic comment

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Probably the same reason he chickened out in the first place, she didn't know if he felt them same way and didn't want to ruin it

7 years ago | Likes 263 Dislikes 4

He literally said she waited for him to ask her. Sounds like she just expected him to do the hard part.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Exactly this

7 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 2

Almost same situation for me. Crush on friend since 13, too scared to ruin it, finally ask at 17. Been together for 8 and just got married

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It has been a dream come true

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ayee my guy! That is amazing!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope that it lasts a long time and you guys have loads of fun and happiness together.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You have no idea how thankful I am of your comment!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

:) I hope to find my own special someone soon.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

but the women are pushing the #metoo and should know by now if they want something they need to man up

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 48

Oh, shut up.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

There is a big difference between 'I was also assaulted and 'I didn't ask him out for a date'

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I mean, yes, that's roughly what equality is but that has nothing to do with consequences for sexual misconduct.

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

What on earth does this have to do with metoo?

Sum up the point you're trying to make. You know, the thing that ties all these disparate but tangentially related things together.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Show me one time that has ever happened

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So I met this girl in middle school she ended up going to a different high school, we really reconnected after graduation 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 707 Dislikes 6

I thought this was about to be that Harry Potter snaps meme lol

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I met my SO ten years ago during high school, after knowing each other and being friends for 4 years we started dating and here we are!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Marrying your best friend is the best. It's like having a sleepover ever night except you get to have sex too

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

The only problem is at sleepovers you stay up all night because you are having too much fun. And then that happens and you are exhausted 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

at work all of the time. Totally worth it though lol 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wife originally told me she wasn't taking friend applications...I sure showed her up on that one...heh heh...

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ended up dating I've known her for 16 years now married for 8 of them, things can really work out with friends.

7 years ago | Likes 656 Dislikes 6

Well duh. Your partner should always be your best friend.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Only if you're not slightly antisocial and have seen childhood female friends in the past few years..

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Started as friends with my girl. Saw her though some bad times and she wanted me. It has led to a really strong relationship

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have a super similar story but it ended with her divorcing me.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are still together right?

7 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 8

'now married for eight of them' suggests so

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still together

:D

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wanna know too

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Met my wife online in a gamer over 16 years ago, became friends but we were both involved. After being online friends for the entire 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 2

2/2 time we both ended up single about seven years ago. She moved here to be with me and we've been together ever since. Friends can 2/3
