My good friend is a teacher. Her classroom was vandalized over the weekend.

Bookshelves and desks were knocked over.

The cords to the phone and computer were cut, and then liquid was poured over them. (Liquid was poured over most of the electronics in the room.)

My friend had family and student photos on this desk. They were *all* destroyed. (Frames and glass broken, photos drawn on, etc.)

Another overturned bookshelf. The kids' cubbies were ransacked too.

Supplies were dumped and scattered.

UPDATE! http://imgur.com/gallery/d8ujy

My friend's classroom was vandalized. The original post is here: http://imgur.com/gallery/RItXf
Once I found out about this, I uploaded the pictures just to vent. Went to bed and didn't think a thing about it. I woke up to FRONT PAGE. But even more overwhelming was how many of you wanting to *help.*

How bad do you have to hate someone to stab their fridge with scissors?

All I can think of is my mom, and how much time and effort she puts into her classroom. We will help your friend out, if it's possible.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel for you OP. My wife is a teacher and has spent hundreds if not thousands of her own money on her classroom. This is just awful.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My sister is a teacher, she pours so much of her time and money into her classroom because the budget cuts wont allot her the money for it.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

$55 raised so far. Let's keep it going!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Knowing a lot of US teachers pay for their own supplies, this makes me so sad and so angry. I hope cops throw the culprit to dogs.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As a former teacher, the shelves and desks are one thing. The cut wires, shattered pictures and scissors would scare the shit out of me.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

that looks like an elementary class, too. who ransacks an elementary class?? did you run out of play dough? what assholes.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Maybe some kid with anger issues or a disorder.. or a screwy life?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is what happens when people start downloading cars. Before you know it they are stabbing fridges

11 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 1

What a world.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Where was this? My cousin is a teacher and she had something similar happen this weekend. Though I don't think it was as bad.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This happened in Northeast FL.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having just finished setting up my classroom and knowing the insane amount of work it takes, fuck whoever did this. I hope karma is a bitch.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

As I am sitting in my classroom reading this, it breaks my heart. I would love to help as much as I can.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ugh--that's terrible. I hope they find whoever did it!

11 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 4

When I read this, at first I thought it said "... hope they kill whoever did it."... I didn't disagree.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is fucked on so many levels, why do people have to be such idiots

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

People are bastard-coated bastards.

Somebody emailed a bomb threat to our school, using their school assigned email address... Didn't take long for them to be caught.

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Wow. Just wow.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*finds out someone's password* *emails bomb threat to school using their email*

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The kid admitted to doing it while the police were investigating. He said he "didn't know the police would get involved"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This happened in my daughter's 2nd grade class too. The kids were devastated. 2nd grade for Christ sake!!!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a teacher, this breaks my heart :( If you do a gofundme thing or something similar, please update, OP!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I want to help with more than an upvote. Start a fund and link please. Also, thank your friend for her service and let her know 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 3

there are so many people out there that care about her and what she does <3

11 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Thanks so much! She's a private kind of person, though. I'd like to get her okay before I did anything like that.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

You don't need to put her name or city on the donation page. Many here are eager to help.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

If you start a GoFundMe, please make another post so we can donate please!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In British Columbia, there's a teacher's strike. Someone sent two separate groups of striking teachers piss-soaked donuts. People are awful.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is infuriating

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a teacher and was the victim of vandalism nowhere near this level & it made me so angry. This poor teacher, I'd love to help them out.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Who stabs an innocent fridge?

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

You have to be pretty cold to do that.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did your friend piss off the mafia or something?

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I see no horses heads, so probably not.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

some kid is seriously angry with the system, somebody needs help before another columbine happens...

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If they would pass out bibles in schools instead of prisons this kind of thing would happen less.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

As good natured as this sentiment is, it isn't going to stop mentally ill from hurting themselves and others. They need professionals.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes let's compare someone fucking up a room full of non-living things to 2 people shooting up a school full of living things

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Compare? No, I'm stating that if left unchecked, this blind rage could turn into something much worse.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Teachers have to put so much of their personal time into their work, grading papers and homework and they get paid next to nothing

11 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 8

I actually couldn't believe how little they made. I thought they were pulling my leg when they told me.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not to mention money. Teachers very often buy classroom supplies for students that the schools refuse to pay for.

11 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 4

So true - I spend myown money on a weekly basis for my class. And bring in heaps of stuff from home. OP's post is heartbreaking.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Unless they get paid the average teachers salary of 56k. That's not next to nothing.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

It depends where they work. Puerto Rican school teachers salary is 1200 monthly. And that is the borderline of poverty here.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Averages mean nothing. Cost of living and other factors play a major role. My first year teaching I made 29k. Not even close to 56k

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

When I was in Jr High, kids w/a grudge burnt the home-ec rooms, after they stupidly wrote on the chalkboard. Yes, their names.

11 years ago | Likes 170 Dislikes 2

When I was in high school, a kid called in a b0mb threat to the school office. From a classroom phone. o_O

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Did they plant it?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. He did it to get out of an exam.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or they wrote some other kid's names. That's what I would have done if I was a bratty teenager vandal. >_>

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

No, it was the kids that torched the building. They went to them to just question them, they all confessed.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, haha, didn't expect that. :P

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They were not on the honor roll, they had a serious grudge with the home-ec teacher. I wish I knew why. She was mostly harmless.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have a ton of school supplies that i'd love to send to her. is this possible?

11 years ago | Likes 1815 Dislikes 10

I'd love to donate supplies too! Henryscheincares.com may be able to help too.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't have much but I'd be willing to send some stuff if needed?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I would love to donate a gift card towards it. i remember many fond memories teachers who actually cared about teaching and showed it.

11 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 2

Depending on country I may be included to wire money as well. Does the teacher take paypall?

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

You. I like you. And i second that. My mom is a preschool teacher and she would be absolutely devastated.

11 years ago | Likes 306 Dislikes 6

Yes! I would also like to chip in if possible!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I have stuff and money and I would love to transfer ownership to this teacher

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

beautiful response

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They need to get the police involved. That looks like a lot of expensive damage. Maybe the school had security cams? People suck :(

11 years ago | Likes 639 Dislikes 3

The first thing I saw from your comment was, and I quote, "People suck :(" This I can agree with.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cameras are handy to identify the vandals, but cameras don't stop them from doing it.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 6

A friend of mine installed fake security cameras at work, but didn't tell anyone they were fake. Productivity went waaaay up

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is true. I believe it does a lot more good to help than to persecute. At the very least, keep it in that order.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

prosecute or persecute?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I meant persecute. I probably used the word wrong. I just mean that beginning with help and support is more important than a man hunt, or(1)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

calling the perpetrators names. It was more of a tangential note on my opinions than a response, while I still agree with commenter

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well there not really supposed to. No one really watches the security tape. It's only used to look back at the footage and have 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

evidence if anything happens. 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which is how the cameras are used to identify the vandals...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Police dusted the room. No security cameras. Lots of damage since every wire in the room was cut. Electronics also had water dumped on them

11 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 1

Was it just your friend's classroom?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At this school, there was only one classroom vandalized. There was another classroom vandalized just like this at a school a few miles away

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There must be some kind of insurance that covers this?

11 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

If the teacher has homeowners insurance then any personal property may be covered, but it'd have to be over the deductible.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OP, I have so so many arts and craft supplies that I would love to send to your friends to offset this terrible act. PM me if I can help!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sad, I'd love there to be some positive updates out there :(

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Was it only this classroom that got vandalized? If so it was most likely a current or ex student who didn't like your friend.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No security cameras? Was it an elementary school? Cause any middle or high without them is just irresponsible.

11 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

My wife is an elementary teacher and her building has cameras and alarms.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Based on the art supplies, sidewalk chalk, and overall decor I would bet it's probably an elementary school.

11 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

It sure as hell doesn't look like anything above elementary school, honestly...

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That really depends on the area you go to school in. I live in a really rural area and we definitely don't have security cameras.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

OP said that it was a classroom for 7-8 year olds.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

hahaha, the middle and high schools I went to didn't have security cameras. The 90s were a fun time.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Please update us in the future!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is a fairly popular thing for teenagers to break into schools on weekends/holidays although usually they don't go crazy like this

11 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

i've broken into my school loads of times. i've even smoked weed in one of the gazebos

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you for your idea!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, I can think of many teachers who deserve this.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I'm down to help out! Please let me know what I can do!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

some of them do

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Kind of a blanket statement, since you don't know who the teacher is or how they are either... But for the most part, I agree.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Really, you should do that. I'm going to school to become a teacher and would be glad to lend a hand in any way I can.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When its set up, tweet a local radio station. They'll love to help and get on board. Good publicity for them too! (radio student here!)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But really tho, you should do that. Even if you only raise $200 it would mean the world to your friend, and the students.

I would donate to this, set up a gofundnme!

11 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 1

I would donate. Set it up!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I volunteer also.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I too would donate. Get cracking, OP.

11 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

Your username makes me distrust you

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

well, Hitler was pretty charitable guy

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Plot twist : OP tore up a classroom, now we're gonna pay him

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

Hmm... interesting...

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Actually that's a stupid idea. We pay taxes for this. Donating is trying to get around the system when the system doesn't work (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 20

, it is a temporary solution and only works in this case. A permanent solution would be fixing the system so all cases are solved for ever.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 18

Oh no! it won't help FOREVER so i'll NEVER help. Ugh. Be the change you want to see man. Donorschoose.org

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have no idea what you talking about lol, it's been 6 months.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But yeah that won't happen :( this is why I don't want to live in this planet anymore.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Talk to literally any good teacher, they will tell you that most of their resources are paid for out of pocket.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As a teacher, I spend between $250-500 of my own money EACH YEAR to supplement my classroom. She needs the help, jerk.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

But don't you see the problem in the fact that YOU have to spend YOUR money for a GOVERNMENT office?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Become a teacher then you can talk shit.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Is this how "check your privilege" became a thing?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

no. its a "don't be an asshole teachers have to bust their ass so the future of the world is ensured but they get paid poorly" thing.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If someone raised 50k for potato salad.i hope we can at least raise that

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Someone raised 50k for POTATO SALAD!?!?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I'd be happy to donate

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I rarely can find the money to donate a penny but as a mother I would give my last few dollars to this teacher.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

take it a step further?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Track 'em, find 'em, kill 'em.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they can also try donorschoose.org. my sister used it for her classroom and found it to be hugely successful.

Businesses often toss supplies schools need on a daily basis (binders, notebooks, organizers, etc). If you work for business, see if you can

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...start a collection box in the copy room and find a school to donate to. A school once calculated that we donated $800 worth of supplies.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

WHAT? I literally scrounge for supplies for my kids every time I can. People throw this stuff out?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Biz does this without blinking an eye. ANYONE in an office, with a car and initiative can do this. 2 pages of a notebook used? Toss it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DO WANT. TIL I'll be going through Michael's and corporate dumpsters from now on.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd be surprised. Corporatism at its finest.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm a student teacher and have already spent so much, you can't be a decent teacher without spending your money.

11 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Completely false

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

It's very difficult to capture the imagination of children without visual prompts. As well as many other things you need to buy.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you've got a way be an above average teacher without dipping into your own money, DO FREAKING TELL.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I never claimed to be able to do it. But a colleague of mine doesn't spend a penny of her own money, and is fantastic

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's incredible (and a little unbelievable). What does she teach?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will absolutely donate to this OP. I'm homeless right now, but I bow at the feet of any good teacher. Shutup and take my money <3

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Good thoughts and prayers are appreciated, Tammy1Silverwolf. Thank you!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
