So Prudential denied the request to add me to my wife's employee life policy because I quit drinking 3 years ago. At least let me put on some lipstick because I like to lool pretty when I get fucked. #fuckmeinmylittlebutthole

Because insurance companies are in it to make money, not to make you well.

Congrats on the sobriety though! So, ...where on yourself were you planning to put on the lipstick for while you're... -- never mind.

I was recently denied as a schizophrenic. Its bullshit.

LIFE insurance not health insurance people. Read. Read shit before you pull out your soap box.

I love how he’s like “they denied me because I quit drinking!”

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

take up smoking and you'll go right on

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Or just lie and tell them you smoke, like an intelligent person

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because they can. Your wife likely can’t be denied as she is the employee, though she is the bigger risk.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

I sell insurance ,it's a qualifying question for some underwriters.. what state are you in ?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got denied a life insurance policy because of an abnormal pap smear. I've had those for 12yrs, nothings changing, they didn't listen.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

auto decline for having a history of substance abuse. If you appeal it you might have a chance, typically need 5 years clean history though.

So don’t die in the next 2 years?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Or get sick

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Insurance is a for profit business. If the actuaries calculate that you probably won't turn them a profit: no insurance. Pretty simple.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Because you can die instantly as a drinker (car wreck) but a smoker dies a slow death where they're likely to let the policy expire.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Even discounting car wrecks, I've never heard of a nicotine equivalent of alcohol poisoning.

I’m a financial advisor with northwestern mutual- if your interested in talking feel free to message me and I’ll send you my email.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just helped someone in a similar situation, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to be approved

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because alcoholism will cut far more years off your life than smoking. The insurance industry is all about actuarial tables.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, if you quit drinking what else is there to live for? That makes you a suicide risk.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

I know what you mean. I got denied from the military because of depression and self-mutilation for staying at a mental hospital in 9th grade

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I know that sucks, but it's a rule made to protect people who are already mentally unwell. Military can leave mental scars on people.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Why would you tell them that? They can't access juvenile medical records.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They requested my medical records like immediately because I had no issues in the past 5 years to speak of and he wanted a reason to reject.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Especially considering how poor the military is at taking care of its people afterward, I'd agree, I think you dodged a bullet, there.

hyuk

That is, if we're talking about the USA. I don't know how it is elsewhere.

Buy me dinner, I like to be wine-and-dined before I get FUCKED!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Start smoking.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

File an appeal.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Pru likes smokers but hates alcohol. Try transamerica premier, or voya

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you don’t have insurance make sure they wear a condom

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If your wife’s cool with it I will oblige to your hashtag.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Because it's "Life" Insurance, not health insurance. You're still gonna die before her.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Cause you can't slam into a ton a cars in an intersection if you smoke and insurance don't work off trusting you to never drink

8 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 2

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Well, you "can", but it will likely not be due to your smoking.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Depends what you're smoking

It's true though.

Risk pools = statstics

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good point - I love how he thinks he’s denied because he stopped drinking

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Insurance is a weird thing (I work in the industry and I'm a smoker). She may get special coverage through work without needing to provide >

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>evidence of insurability but her spouse policy may require it. With time, you could get a recon.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Life Insurance =/= Health Insurance. Different rules, different risk categories based on health history, criminal record, lifestyle.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Appeal it. Make them explicitly state that they denied adding someone who is got treatment and is clean. Publicize.

8 years ago | Likes 833 Dislikes 7

"oh yeah, good point" *cancels wife's insurance, too*

8 years ago | Likes 281 Dislikes 4

Wouldnt mentioning the wife, be more focusing on OP being clean.

8 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 2

Contact your state Department of Insurance. Probably won't help, but it's your best bet. And, yes, they'll put it in a declination letter.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If OP can get some letters of recommendation from some influential people he may be able to still qualify.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Like Jesus and Paul Ryan?

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

John Cena

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They would never explicitly say that in a declination letter. He said yes to a knockout question which triggered the auto decline.

At which point the consumer must start appeal after appeal, phone calls to the top of management. Eventually they stop denying. It's a >

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

>bullshit system for sure, but learn to play the game.

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Yeah, you just have to appeal, it is just How the system works.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My doctors had to play this game with my insurance to get me an MRI. Nurse finally figured out the special code: "We have a surgeon on (1/2

standby, he just needs to know where to cut." Presto - instant approval after 8 weeks denial. (FYI MRI's are not for the claustrophobic or

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's an easier way to play: Take it to the papers and let them know you are.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

There are easy to use systems to fix this issue without going to the press... being too lazy to pick up the phone is no excuse. 1/?

eh
