Don't rub it too hard, you might summon God knows what considering how 2020 is going. Matter of fact, seal it right back up in the wall.

Although living in Europe, I'd be glad to know more about that find. It's a tiny piece of american history, you have here.

Get in touch with your local archaeologist society. Every state usually has one.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@OP I've posted a link to this on the Massachusetts Grand Lodge Facebook page to see if we can get any more info on it.

I do photo work with some historical societies in the Lexington area. I'll see what I come up with. Reddit will probably win though lol.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it sealed up?

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

It’s not sealed but there’s a little hole at the top that may have held a stopper of some sort. Posted to Reddit looking for more info.

I always think it's funny how the letter "s" changed from looking like a letter "f" with a tail to where it is now.

"It is imbued with powerful magic. If not returned, your protectors will turn violent and a great sickness will curse your land"

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

It's not Masonic, it's a mead serving vessel. Often used by the church between the 15th and 19th century.1/2

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The practice dates back to early christianity in Europe where priest's would keep bees.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So....when are you guys going to take over?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well our grand lodges have put out edicts preventing us from meeting due to COVID, so our plans have been held up a little.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

It may be from the 1930s as a promo item. In the early 1930s the Lexington Masonic Players presented "An 18th Century Lodge", with a 1/?
