First off I am not better than anyone but myself. The answer to why I don’t drink is cause I’m a motherfucking alcoholic who can’t handle drinking less than 10 beers a day. Been seven months since I’ve drank. I know I’ll drink eventually but for now I am not interested. I’ve been tested heavily and thanks to my job I’ve stayed away from drinking because I know I’ll stop going to work with the excuse of being hungover and just want to sit around drinking. One day at a time.

Time to celebrate! Cokes all around

Keep it up! We’re pulling for you!

My mom is at ~9months now sober after a decade of being drunk 24/7! Keep it up! Everyone around you appreciates it too!
RVME
You can lose interest in drinking if you allow enough time. You won't miss it at all. There will be other things to do an other ways to be

Good job.

Nothing beats the feeling of having your shit together

Hey, good work. On both the job and the booze. Keep it up.
OldGreggsBloodyMangina
Last time I checked I made it seven hours without drinking alcohol.
OriginalRepost
That was what I would go a week. More power to you if you can handle drinking less than 12 beers a day.

Great attitude. Keep on keeping on.

Adulting, day after day after day, w/o anyone thanking you. W/o even anyone really noticing, it’s one of the hardest things.

You don't need alcohol, great job!

I’m proud of you, keep going. I’m in almost the exact same boat as you, but it’s still early on for me. This gives me hope. Thank you

Good shit man, try going to the gym. It help me stay away from booze and stay healthier.

NICE, I'm on my 7 months and 1 week. I miss drinking but I quit for different reasons.
OriginalRepost
Damn almost the same time. I stopped for certain reasons but this is the current reason.

Sunday July 16th. Usually I had 2-3 beers after work. I went on the wagon so I can find a better job, unfortunately haven't found it yet.
indigoaura74
Good on you man. It’s sounds like depression though as well. Take that next step and talk to someone. Have them be brutally honest with you.
OriginalRepost
Yeah it’s one thing I noticed that started to go away once I stopped drinking.
TsubakiTragic
You are finding a strength in yourself you probably didn't know was there. One day at a time, one step at a time. You are strong.

Congrats. I'm struggling with a month, and it's the shortest of the year. ???? good job

I would have dreams of drinking during the first month. Wake up regretting it until l realized it was a dream. It gets easier.

i get plastered every day and go to work partially drunk in the morning. it sucks. how did you deal with the boredom after stopping?
Morepicturesofcats
Lots of hobbies. Hanging out with others who don't drink.
textilelover
This is odd to me as someone who's never been drunk and is rarely bored when not at work. I believe you, I'm just not sure how it happens.
PatterBreaker
Its called escaping a messed up life. Sobriety is boring. At some point fatalism wins and you just say fuck it
textilelover
If their life is messed up, seems more like sobriety is stressful rather than boring.
redrockNOLAblues
35 years since I stopped drinking. You can do it!
OriginalRepost
Yeah that sounds like a goal... Blues? As in the music? That’s my stuff.
TheDizzyToast
Like your post says "one day at a time." I quit smoking like 3 years ago and it's actually quite amazing how quick them days come and go.
TheDizzyToast
Nice, good for you dude.
HonestlyNotARobot
Be careful saying "I know I'll drink again eventually". Never drinking again is the goal.
OriginalRepost
I say that because I know people are waiting for the day I slip, if it happens. Thanks btw
HonestlyNotARobot
Got it...keep it up. I know what you're going through. It's amazing how much better life gets

You're setting yourself up for failure with words like that. if you've gone 7 months you're doing great! Getting that 1 year chip is
