So...

I'm a 20 y/o guy studying Graphic Design in Belgium. When I first met my class, I was lucky to come in a class with the coolest, most friendly and fun people. One of those people was the guy who made all of these. At first he didn't say too much, so our conversations usually peaked at "Hi, how are you".

After a few weeks/months

...he showed us some of his work... insanely precise drawings which blew our minds away at the time, but still nothing compared to this. Since it probably took a lot of guts for him to show us these drawings, I started gaining a lot of respect for him. So did my classmates.

At this point

... he really started opening up and became even more amazing than what we expected. This guy isn't just a very talented artist, but he also seems to be a walking charity (on a student level). When there was something we needed for class, which we weren't allowed to forget in order to come in, he'd post it on Facebook (private group). Even better, the day after he'd bring a few copies himself, just because he knew not everyone might have seen the post.

What I'm trying to say here is that being new to college is always hard. You meet a lot of new people and some of us just don't have that ability to connect as fast as others. I, myself, am a pretty social guy but have realized this due to my environment, I guess. So, give everyone a chance, because before you know it you might meet a guy like this. A guy who has a lot to offer on both personality and potential, but who never gets the chance because all of a sudden you're an aspiring businessman, lawyer,... who lost time for just simple human interaction.

Basically, why I posted this was not because of the whole "moral of the story" thing. I posted this because I could see the passion this guy carries around. The same passion I have in a different line of business, which I'm not going to cover right now. Solely for that, I admire this guy. Combine that with the help he offers us and you'll understand why he deserves to be in the spotlight for at least once in his lifetime. I mean, once someone posted a few sketches asking how it looked to the group. My classmate answered with pictures of alterations he made, just to help the guy out. No fee asked, no nothing...

This one is REALLY insane

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed these pictures and to all the freshmen... Good luck!

Close-up

By the way, I didn't mention his name or anything, because I know the guy as someone who thinks he's alright at best. Him knowing this was posted on a site like Imgur (which I'm sure of, he doesn't use) would make him feel uncomfortable. If it would get a lot of positive reactions, I'd show him in no time of course. But until then, he shall be unknown to you all!

Oh and if this feels like a sob story, that totally wasn't my intention at all. I just want to use this post as a tribute to an amazing person I know.

tl;dr: Be nice to the introverts you meet in freshman year, they might turn out to be awesome and helpful.

UPDATEEE: Frontpage, awesome! :D (thanks guys!)

So I showed him this post and all your nice comments. He really liked it. We're discussing his technique right now. Apparently some of you thought he printed a negative and copied that with his pencils, paint, etc.. Turns out, he didn't. Well, actually he liked both techniques, but enjoys the one where he inverts it in his head more. Basically because it's more challenging.

As to the people who asked if I'd post future work of his. I might. Maybe, it would be better for him to do that himself. Not that I don't want to, but I recon that eventually, a lot of artists rather decide this for themselves. We haven't discussed this part yet, but I'll do my very best to keep you guys updated!

I wanted to say something negative here, but I'm afraid it would turn into a masterpiece

What the fuck those are so brilliant I can't even make up a decent comment. Glorious bastard, I wish all the best for him.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't wanna be negative or anything, but I'm pretty positive those are damn cool.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Impressive. Most impressive.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is not a post. This is just a Tribute.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why the hell would you do it in negative in the first place?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What if...he sees the world in negative?

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Then his drawing pencils would also be seen negative to his eyes, and his pictures and pencils would be seen positive to us.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I call shenanigans, I'd have to see something like this being done in person.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is mind blowing artwork for a guy who is still in college. He should showcase it to the world.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How? Is he the rainman of art? This is fucking incredible

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I once made a snowman. Once.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can I make these into my wallpaper plz?

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

As an introvert... I've raised my children to reach out to the quiet kids and to give everyone a chance.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Thanks man, you're doing the world a favor.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I truly hope this comment doesn't go unnoticed.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just seeing how he works, and his social quietness, I wonder if he is perhaps in an autistic spectrum. This can create unique talents.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is fucking incredible

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's amazing, although hats off to OP! Not many people can recognize the worth in others and share it. You are my idol!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Are you positive?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DOHOHOHO

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well holy crap.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can barely even turn negatives into positives with math, what the fuck.

11 years ago | Likes 1246 Dislikes 0

Just put two vertical lines on the outsides, like so: |x| BOOM never negative!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Add one vertical line through the middle of the negative sign and there you go!

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

multiply everything by negative 1 and you will keep the numbers but change the signs... (:

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was expecting a bad I can't even ... Joke. But this one is hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just multiply with another negative number :P and there are other ways, but I got to go teach math to kids now!

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 3

I tried multiplying -113 by -1 and my pencil exploded.

Read the whole thing. Applauded alone in bed. Again. But this time for you!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does no one else doubt the validity of these?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

i do. something seems fishy. they seem like traces over a photograph. id lie to see their non inverted art

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i mean, i'm not saying it's completely out of the question. but i have to wonder..

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I understand why you might be thinking this. If you would know him tho', you'd know he posts his work on Facebook only. To his pretty (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Small online network. Also in a very informative and neutral way. So I'd highly doubt him faking these and then putting them online. (2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is fantastic, and you can tell him he's amazing. But please, please don't post a friend's work without their permission

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

It's a really nice thing you did for him, but as an artist, and an introvert, he might not appreciate it as much as you want him to.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I've actually realized this too. I hope he'll like it tho'. And I apologize for the indirect offense towards you too.

I understand. Kinda like, I can't blame him... but...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I truly hope he's delighted, he really is breathtakingly good at liknesses, and it was such a kind gesture :)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, I hope so too! He's the one who deserves credit for kind gestures tho'.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't even begin to understand how he made these and I'm in art school. I suddenly feel like an untalented asshat.

11 years ago | Likes 520 Dislikes 5

I know :( I see all these super talented people and it's a little daunting. Let's not lose hope, though!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Requires as little talent as inverting colour on photoshop and copying. I don't know why Imgur gets wet over this shit.

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 19

And tracing. Lots of tracing.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Keep in mind these were made by hand. If this doesn't require talent then please, do it yourself.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Not sure why you're being downvoted, you're absolutely correct.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

Everyone in our class knows that feeling. But hey, average is fine too, right?

11 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 2

Everyone has a style and a talent for that style. I myself like a particuler style and my work ends up reflecting that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I lack in innate skill I make up for in tenacity lol

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

What I lack in innate skill, I cry about. :)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You just described every male lead anime character ever.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh god I'm Naruto...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Get photo reference, invert colors, spend 200 hours tediously copying, probably with the help of a grid. It's not hard, just takes patience.

11 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 3

exactly. basically a human copy machine, easy but requires patience.
