3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, snickerdoodles are... what, exactly? Asking for a confused foreigner. Also, some sort of recipe/instructions would go well too, thanks.

Once upon a time people competed to make a cookie that sounded tasty but would be terrible. This was the winning entry.

They're effectively a cinnamon-sugar cookie. Cookie is made with shortening + cream of tartar so it stays fluffy, they're rolled in a 1/2

2/2 cinnamon-sugar mixture prior to baking so that is what you see on the outside. That sugar melts so crunchy outside, fluffy inside.

Hence the name, Snickerdoodle…

I know snickerdoodles as cookies with lots of dried fruit stuff in them. But ours look completely different to those in the post.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Dried fruit stuff in snickerdoodles? What on earth kind of snickerdoodles are you eating?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha don't know. They're Christmas cookies..with nuts, and fruits and rum/whisky. I found several recipes online too

May I remind OP, that there are rules for this kind of posts? Where is the recipe?

Still a WIP. I got the shape and texture that I want but the taste could be better. Next iteration should be perfect and I'll share then.

Snicker doodles are my favorite cookie. Nice work!

Add some vanilla extract and some nutmeg to the dough. Really pops with the cream of tartar.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always imagine snickerdoodles should be really fluffy but I never get them like that and I’m not sure I haven’t made up that ideal

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nah a good snickerdoodle is soft and fluffy, anything else is a lie

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Maybe more baking soda, and/or cream of tartar?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cream of tartar is key to the flavor. No substitute compares. And yes I know you can make your own. But store bought hits differently
