I still say cartilage never, EVER heals in two weeks. Ears are really poorly vascularized too, so they heal super slowly. His injury was not from a bullet ripping through the edge of his ear, as he'd be wearing a bandage or having a visible scab (that even putting make up on would still be visible. Okay, you're mistaken on something. That is not an "easy" shot. The .223/5.56mm NATO round is not well suited to long distance shooting. It's a very light bullet, which makes it more subject to wind and bullet drop. Crooks was shooting from 150 yards. I'd invite anyone to go to a range and see how easy it is to hit a target that is maybe a square foot total from 450 feet away outdoors using nothing but a red dot sight. It's not implausibly difficult, but it's also not what you'd call "easy."

His only reaction was sudden surprise at being cut slightly by debris from the teleprompter; his expression doesn't show surprise at being shot at, but surprise at actually taking damage. And then before anything is even safe, he's dragged to his feet and propped up for further shots, knowing they would never come, for the PR photos.

I think the current 'accepted' theory is that it was a piece of shrapnel from some electrical equipment/lighting that hit his ear, which in some ways makes it even more unbelievable. When this happened, my friend said he's gonna win, now.. I asked what he meant, and he said that there's a legend that any POTUS who had an assassination attempt has won. Instantly, I imagined him and his think tank all sitting around with this idea, and planning it out. The biggest problem with this explanation isn't the person in the crowd, it's the shooter who went willingly to their death. It's not a trivial feat to find someone who's a good shot (remember, they had to shoot near enough to Trump to hit someone behind him but not accidentally hit him), discrete, no clear ties to implicate them, and also be willing to no-question get killed doing the deed. Unless we're adding that the shooter also didn't die to the conspiracy theory.

See the funny thing about cult members is sometimes they can be very well hidden and still be die hard fanatics. Fanatics have never had an issue dying for their cause against the enemy.
