She gets the full-size Snickers.

When I was in highschool I went as a moose.

Nature not stepping of the carcinization crazy train any time soon then?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Horseshoe crabs are considered living fossils because they've barely changed in the last 250 million years. They're actually more closely related to scorpions than they are to "true crabs".

my son asked to be a box of fries one year - kid has some kind of sense of humor. Got a great reaction from all the houses we visited

Somehow, the little legs sticking out at the back make this even better.

I was such a weird kid that I was accidentally given credit for someone else's unusual costume. One of my former classmates was hired at my job. When she learned that I worked there she excitedly told everyone about the Halloween when I dressed as a giant shampoo bottle. I had to explain that she had the wrong person. The girl who actually wore the costume looked nothing like me (she was a skinny redhead while I'm a fat brunette) and had a twin brother who dressed as the conditioner.

That's awesome... And I honestly wonder how they made this costume. [ Pensive expression ]

Billions of years, and evolution not having any notes.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

For weight, cardboard or Eva foam probably.

Did this for my kids a few years ago

Spirit Halloween MAD there's an animal they missed ... of course, for them, it's just a black hefty bag with streamers ...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They need to get her an electric skateboard to lay on, not just a regular one.

As a 10 year old my sister was distressed by the anatomically incorrect bat costumes they sold at the store for Hallowen- so she made her own, anatomically correct bat ears and nose out of cardboard.. no one knew what she was

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Boo on them for not knowing basic anatomy! Anatomically correct bat costumes rule!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

delightfully weird and wonderful.

Friend of mine, her then-11 year old dressed up as a plague doctor. Kid loved the crap out of her creepy beak mask.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

This was my nephew. He still has the costume actually.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just realised my little girl would love a feathered dress and 'bird mask' :-p

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly that’s a great Halloween costume.

I’d give her extra candy.

It beats Elsa for the 9 millionth time.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean, kids like what kids like. They don't have a concept of what's original. Adults who all just dress up as the same people at conventions are a different story

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to see that giant 3D printer they used to make this

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That's not how you make kids

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

True, it's injection molding and then you have to wait 9 months for it to set.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell, I am an adult and I want to do this.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well, you've got a month, go get started!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah, have a temporary mobility affecting injury issue, on top of higher priorities than halloween. And a bit of a protest agenda for my next costume.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please don’t come to seaside cities in China because horseshoe crabs are food and medicine material here.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I ‘d hate to tell you what we do to our animals over here in the States.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Is China not able to tell the difference between an animal and a kid in a costume, or are they just looking for an excuse for cannibalism?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also Halloween is not a thing ... but Chinese New Year's, red envelopes with cash for those unmarried ...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also best to stay away from the USA, where almost one million horsehoe crabs are killed yearly to be used as fishing bait.

Really admire dads who have the knowledge to commit to these silly projects for their kids.

2 years ago | Likes 400 Dislikes 18

All my son's best costumes were mom-made. I've made some pretty great ones for myself too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Her little legs sticking out the back is fucking hilarious

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The great part is at the start, the dad has limited skills. They learn as they go. Anyone can do it, it just takes love and perseverance!

Takes teamwork, I did the structure the wife did the decorating. Highlighted requests included "Calculator", "House" and "Pirate Ship"

2 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

If a mother does this for her child, she deserves the title of "dad" more than a lot of fathers.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Creative thinking, but our language has words for female identifying people who actually participate in children's lives.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

= All parents matter. You know, one doesn't exclude the other.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 29

The original commenter literally excluded all moms in their comment. Why do dads get the "science knowledge and building skills" credit though, that makes no sense. The most creative and smartest people I know, literal scientists and artists, have all been women.

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 3

Ironically, this is on the same level when someone says: "Black lives matter" and you instantly say "all lives matter". One does not exclude the other.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

To give you the opportunity for self reflection, I'll point out that the original comment excluded mentioning moms, but didn't exclude them from being admirable. They just weren't mentioned or referenced at all. It was implicit sexism that they assumed it was the dad.

Your comment is expressing sexism explicitly.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

Guess what, sometimes mothers have knowledge and commitment too.

2 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 7

You know its heart was in the right place.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

We don't. Most of that guy's feed is objectifying women. Why would we assume he's not sexist here?

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

you sure sound a level headed woman yourself

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

You sound like you think rape jokes are funny

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh, I appreciate the sentiment of the comment, but why do people assume that it's the dad who does these things?

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 5

because, by all means, it is typically the dads who does woodworking, while tailoring is more often done by moms. I wonder, had this been like a cool custom tailored costume, and someone had said "Really admire mums who...", would any of you have gone "nuu huu could have been a dad too!" - we all know you would not.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 13

Is it woodworking tho? It looks like cardboard, foam and maybe clay. Not that the child absolutely couldnt lift it, but wood seems like it would be heavy to lug around and not typical for this type of endeavor (costume). They honestly could easily be the child of any cosplaying couple.

I celebrate Cologne Carnival since forever and from all our friends I know two dads doing the costumes. In every other family its the moms task.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad wouldn't lift a finger in this regard. It was always my mom (who made me a hobo every damn year).

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Where are these dads who create costumes for their kids? I would totally assume it's the mom. As a mom with mom friends I've mostly seen moms involved in their kid's costumes and the dads rarely contribute. I know I'm making generalizations to the opposite direction from you, but it's mind blowing for me that someone sees this costume and automatically thinks it's the dad who made it.

Outrage wasn't my intention. I made an observation, that is all.
