Steve Holmes, a bus driver in California saw an accident on the road. He pulled over the bus and called 911. He set out cones to warn others drivers and helped direct traffic around the accident. California Highway Patrol arrives on the scene and runs him over and kills him. Nice work police! He was a veteran and a bus driver for more than 10 years. Students said he was more than their bus driver. He was like a father figure.

That's ok I was having a great day.

Payback for the time a bus driver ran over a cop who was on the side of the road. Pepperidge farms remembers.

Man blocks traffic for safety. Man does everything right. Man gets run over for his good deed. People wonder why good deeds are rare.

I'm at work at a hospital in Reno today where his son works. Just heard about this from a doc. Word is their whole family was super close.

Fellow Reno-ite?! I too didnt know about this till now. :-(

Bring the cop up on charges of involuntary manslaughter at the minimum.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Lol he's a cop. It'll be a miracle if he faces ANY consequences for killing someone.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Goddamit! All police must be to blame!!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

Alright mother Fucker, police make mistakes too. You don't know the circumstances. Stop being a piece of shit hating on police.

Bit of a strong reaction, don't you think?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Cop apologists tend to be like that whenever someone shows them anything that doesn't portray cops as the perfect human beings.

I was driving home in this. The accident looked awful but I was wondering why the news was there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awful. :(

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sucks, but it's not like this is Highway Patrol policy. The patrolman backed his car up to leave and hit Holmes by mistake. Shit happens.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Yeah we all know it wasn't on purpose.Doesn't make it any less sad or ridiculous.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Oh that's a terrible tragedy. How fast were the Cops going ?

"A CHP officer spoke to the people involved...then got back into his cruiser to close a lane. As the officer was backing up, he hit Holmes"

Thank you very much for that information m

Dude. Wrong place, wrong time.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

An entirely arbitrary statement given the internet, and by large, imgur's, dark humor checkered past. Herd mentality determines if it is bad

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was an accident.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 12

"accident"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Next time i kill someone with a car ill be sure to use that as a defence.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's a valid defense against murder. Vehicular manslaughter is a preferable charge.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For the people too lazy to open the link: Officer spoke to people at crash, got back in car to close lane, backed up and on accident hit him

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

But how fast do you have to go in reverse to kill a man? And was that speed really necessary?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Doesn't take that much speed to kill someone. If he wasn't bracing for impact, he would've fallen easier, making it easy to hit head first

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

True. I guess it'll be a little clearer when more details are released.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You say that as if the officer did it intentionally. Accidents are weird, you can die of anything when hit in the wrong spot.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I dunno, I've succeeded so far at LOOKING AROUND WHEN I'M MOVING THE FUCKING CAR TO AVOID PEDESTRIANS.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The cops sure as FUCK don't accept 'It was just an accident' when you RUN SOMEONE OVER WITH YOUR FUCKING CAR.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I know it wasn't intentional. I was just questioning the situation. I'm not well versed on vehicle physics.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well figure a 1-2 ton vehicle hitting a 200 pound man in the back at around 5-10 mph if he fell over and hit his head the trauma could do it
