I've been writing cursive for about a decade, and I can barely read my own notes. It's a lot faster than lifting the pen off the paper.

#1 Not so much a fan of cursive https://imgur.com/OmUoL2T

This post just made my day <3

As an organic chemistry teacher, #5 gets an A+.

Is this why London bridges keep falling down?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

None of these people are doctors.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People ask me once in a while, how come I can draw fairly well, but my writing is hardly legible. teehee.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

People ask me this too. Then I show them my calligraphy skills and they wonder even MORE what's wrong with my normal writing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never knew this was a kink. O_o Ngggh

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

*tries to catch her breath* holy crap, tell me about it! I had no idea...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

My signature kind of looks like a few of the letters that are in my name.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

mine is a b with a v in it, nobody cares anyways

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine is typically the first initial followed by scribbles that generally take the shape of the correct letters, but not actual letters.

I came across some of my grade school stuff today. My penmanship has managed to sustain the same level of messy legibility for 20 years.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I can't remember the last time I wrote something that wasn't on a work form - and yes, I have thought about bringing a printer to work.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like that there are other people who like handwriting. There is something artistic about it.

9 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 1

I change my handwriting regularly. I love trying on a new font.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are a lot of people that like handwriting. It's just that most of us can't fucking do it.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

#5 its together NOT TO GETHER YOU KERNY FUCK

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad I'm not alone.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These literally fill me with rage.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

For those of you lamenting your handwriting, if you're willing to put in the work, go here: http://palmermethod.com/ It will help.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting. I wonder if it would help with drawing too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No idea. I can draw fine, but my handwriting sucked for years.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We were forced to do drills using the Palmer Method at my private Catholic elementary school. It went on for hours sometimes. Fuckin awful.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I'm nervous or on the phone I write my name over and over on sticky notes.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I practice my handwriting ALL THE TIME.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I had to teach myself how to write in print when I was 18, because my cursive was unreadable. Print was only slightly better.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'n great at typink though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is hella tight

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a lefty, this is impossible.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

As another, I remembered my dreams of achieving functional ambidexterity... but never kept up the practice.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did you get close?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Took me half again as long to write and while legible, was not my finest penmanship.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a lefty, too - everything is impossible. Only other lefties understand. "Peel this potato; open this can." Me: *stares in fear*

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Opening cans still reduces me to tears

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes please

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I write in cursive all the time. My English teacher during my senior year told me that my handwriting was hard to read but he didn't 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Want to tell me not to write in cursive. So we comprised and I just spaced out my words. In fact that's all I write in is cursive 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also write in cursive all the time. Someone once said "that's cute" to me like I was fucking stupid.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry you had to hear that! Cursive is a wonderful thing, kudos to you for also writing in cursive!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

High Five!! I'm obsessed with handwriting. Now, if I could just get it to stop hurting my hand so much.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

-hi five!- I have the same problem, but it also hurts less than printing in my experience. Plus, it really sets aside your work from others'

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bow to your godly handwriting. Mine looks like a drunk doctor who's secretly a 2 yr old on LSD who's secretly a raccoon that found a pen

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds impressive, actually!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I despise cursive. So many hours completely wasted.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In my case, so many hours saved, it's faster, and took minimal time to learn

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

any lefthanders here? They'll understand why I hate this post.

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

Aye

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I got you fam. My handwriting's a hot mess and I end up with ink on the side of my hand on a regular basis.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I'm left handed. Neatest handwriting in my social circle.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes. i'm wondering if a change in writing (overwriting/underwriting) would help though it would be hard to make such a change.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kinda, got forced to write with my right hand in nursery/primary school, I now can't write for shit with either. Oddly I still write with1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

the lefty curve even when writing 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Catholic mom wouldn't let me write with my left hand, so I'm "right handed" for writing...except that I do cursive with my left hand.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

~25 years later and I'm not sure if I do it out of spite or if I'm the one who ended up burned by it. Fuck fountain pens for cursive.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hand hurts after writing two paragraphs?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

My hand hurts after 1. I hate writing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Writing in cursive can hurt your hand after a short amount of time if you're not used to it. Cursive requires a lot of loops and shit.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I used to write in a journal every day. Switched to cursive because it hurt my hand less.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hear this teacher! Stop making us write god f*** essays on cursives (I just need to vent)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Personally, I love cursive. It's far faster and my hand doesn't get tired so it's an easy choice. I don't understand how people use print!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I have quite a problem with Coordination, and they fucked my writing early on so for me Computer is the only writing I am ok.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You get used to it quite fast though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

[1/2] Not always. I tried to write in cursive for a while but never got used it. I was so used to writing in print that I couldn't naturally

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

[2/2] just write in cursive. I eventually gave up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh we're you older then usual learning it?

When i try.

Just print a page in Comic Sans and upload it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes I write things and can't read them back; sometimes I find old things I wrote and I'm super impressed. Still shitty but legible.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Practice helps. There are muscles in the hands that need to be built up. (Source: Have written 3 novels by hand)

Supernatural....+1

Second. Dysgraphia sucks. Especially because I've developed a writing fetish, which gets pretty awks when I see someone writing really neat.

Chicken scratch with a broken leg

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bad handwriting is a defense strategy sometimes. Makes it harder for your peers to cheat off your paper.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a cool skill, but I feel no envy. Like, what would this skill really do for me?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Make you look fucking cool and make everyone around you will say "wow you have really good handwriting"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True. Being skilled in typing is far more important today.

Practice. Practice practice practice. And then some more practice.

Congratulations! Your [Hand Dexterty] and [Handwriting] levelled up! You are now at the level of *whatthefuckisthisillegiblescribbleshit*

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I practiced so hard in primary school, had to do extra work on my handwriting at home with books and stuff. Still suck

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Like, making circles over and over again? Or straight lines? I sucked at cursive for years b/c they never made us practice just the 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

basic elements, starting with how to hold a pen. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think I was ever taught how to hold correctly either, if I was it wasn't enough

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heres some examples. I write in capitals otherwise it's illegible /a/k6Z7c

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Workbooks with activities and tips. Like tracing letters then having to do it by yourself.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a teacher, I'm fucking legible, AND YET. "Maaam is that an A or an O? An N or an R?" >:(

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't read your post. ??

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I was in school I'd never read my notes, but it made a huge difference to take them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm going to be a doctor so it's imperative that my handwriting be a cross between chicken scratch and hieroglyphics.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just finished an English exam hope my teacher enjoys reading dark stories with horrible handwriting and cut out words everywhere

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Want to fix that? than just learn to right in webdings, that way noone can read your handrighting all they see is some buildings

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People can sometimes read my X too.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We are supposed to write our ID numbers on the front of exams to minimize grading bias, but they know its me from how shit my handwriting is

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doctor's assistants and elementary school teachers can usually get mine.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

My handwriting isn't that bad, yet my teachers always seemed to struggle with it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dont understand how teachers always understand handwriting. They're like wizards or something.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pattern recognition?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. I'm both a teacher who can decode nearly any handwriting and a wizard whose best spell is fireball--even rolled a crit once.
