When you don't vaccinate your child, you put them in danger as well as other children, especially those who aren't old enough to have vaccinations. If they die it's your fault, and you should be charged for it.

Shouldn't it just be made that so it is illegal for you to not vaccinate your children unless it is detrimental to their health.

Manslaughter, probably.

9 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 4

Happened in Canada. Homeopathic antivaxxers child died of a curable disease and were charged with murder.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Ya and if u do give them a vaccine and there is a side effect. You should be charged with Child Abuse.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Did you see who the US just elected? Stupid won and he's been openly against vaccinations. We're a long way from any common sense

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Same goes for if your child infects anyone else

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not unpopular. -1

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I wonder how long before people run the new unpopular opinion thing (guy surrounded by rifles) into the ground the way they have w/ puffin.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From Ireland- didn't even know people had the choice not to vaccinate their children until being on this website

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or those Vegans who force their children or pets into the lifestyle and die of malnutrition.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously... my aunt almost killed her dog like that... it should be considered abuse

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed

I don't. It's a slippery slope argument, implying child safety is a requirement, even for Darwin Award winner types.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

If everyone thought that, there would be no argument. Stay in school, vax the kids u want to live

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Popular opinion puffin strikes again!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I would not waste my tax dollars on this. If their child dying did not correct their behavior, i doubt jail time will. No one wins.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well at least during jail time they would most likely not be able to kill other children.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well, if you would like to pay for it i won't stop you ;)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There probably wouldn't be any anti vaccers if they were free. I'm from uk and don't know a single one.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That would be a foolish road to go down. It ends in 1000s of new diseases being "discovered" which all have very pricey vaccines

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Would be a foolish road to go down agreed, but the rest of that statement is just moronic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Lol. It's not my best explanation. I need more characters.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True. Character limit ruins everything.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure that any parent who loses a child will be in hell already, without any need for taxpayer dollars to clothe and feed them.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Judgmental, black and white world view?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I kinda agree but the law needs to be rewritten, you could get manslaughter but never murder.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Okay, but then you pass this into law and people who don't vaccinate for legitimate reasons (autoimmune deficiencies) are now criminals.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Anti-vaxxers make a choice. People with autoimmune deficiency, don't. This is another reason healthy people should be immunized, to 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Protect people who can't. If a law was passed it would hopefully include a clause for people who can't be vaccinated2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No dude. There's always people who slip through the cracks, or don't get vaccinated in one state and move to another, or one of a million(1)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

things, and then your child gets sick and you get charged with murder. So now you've lost your child, and you're going to jail. Great.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It isn't murder, it is gross negligence and perhaps manslaughter.

No. Murder is unlawful killing. Killing is the taking of a life.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You are right got them mixed up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In some jurisdictions the two happily coalesce, gross negligence manslaughter.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Love the tropic thunder username

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is ridiculous. Even people who don't vaccinate have no intention, and no anticipation, that their children should succumb to illness.

Don't be stupid, making extremely unequivalent "comparisons"

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

There is a case like this in Canada where the parents are being charged for manslaughter

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, they were charged for not treating him with antibiotics. They refused medical care and relied on homeopathic treatments.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oops, sorry! Although it was actually "failing to provide necessities of life". They are facing 5 yrs in jail

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, let's encourage giving the government power to throw us in jail if don't put certain substances into our body. Really awesome idea.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Same thing for fun owners whose kids get ahold of them and shoot themselves.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As a gun owner I agree. If you're going to have guns, have a safe

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gun.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

isn't it illegal to not lock up your guns ? cus if it is, then it is constructive manslaughter.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No. sadly, no law to lock them up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a bit crazy yea.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If a child has a reaction to a vaccination and dies, who should be criminally charged then?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If another person's child dies because you didn't vaccinate your child, you should definitely be charged with manslaughter.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

The amount of upvotes on the first comment vs responses is ridiculous.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How can a vaccinated child die from something they should be immune to?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Vaccines aren't 100%, and most babies can't be vaccinated until they are around 1 year of age. There are also autoimmune deficiencies

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if it's a child who's family is unable to afford vaccinations?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

In less wealthy school districts, they vaccinate kids for free. At least in my area Idk if It's nation wide.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you cant afford it wic does the essential ones free

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What if you're highly allergic to the vaccines

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well that's obviously mitigating circumstance. Which is why all other kids should be vaccinated, herd immunity and all that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then youre part of the reason the kids who can be vacinated need to be. To protect kids who cant be with herd immunity

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why everyone who can be needs to be vaccinated, so we protect those kids too.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's not how allergies work though. Lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

90% of my ER patients would be charged with manslaughter by this logic. I don't agree with all choices, but I respect the right to choose.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

What's odd is 99% of the comments are the opposite of yours. I fear for the future, I really do. Kids are so easily led to witchhunts.

That's my thing. All these almost draconic style witch hunts... you don't have to agree but people should respect the right to choose.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Really? And when someone decides to 'Starve the Devil' out of a child, you're OK with that choice too?. 'Oh well, it is their religion...'

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

2/2 - I tell patients, that I'm their consultant. I'll tell you my professional opinion, but it's your choice to what you want done.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not okay with it at all, but it'd be a worse world when you agree to let me do whatever I want to my patients. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When patients already agree to treatment you do what ever is medically necessary, they don't know what's best for them.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...Allowing ignorance and superstition to dictate medical treatment is dangerously recidivist. The 4 humors next?...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well then I think feeding your child unhealthy food should be child abuse...You can't regulate people's lives like that.

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 14

Isn't depriving your children of the nutrients they need already considered child negligence?

Yes you can. In my country people have been imprisoned when they refused to give their child the poliovaccin. Child was taken away.

did you just suggest that hardly anyone ever dies of preventable obesity which was present in childhood?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I know. I was just trying to make the point that it's a slippery slope to make every negative outcome of someone's actions punishable :)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

[deleted]

[deleted]

9 years ago (deleted Feb 25, 2023 10:49 AM) | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

Is it a slippery slope? Or can we make decisions based on the actual situation?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No fuck this post, I'm in the medical field, vaccines are a good idea, but when you start FORCING your idea of right you get Trump ect. @Op

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I had a patient recently who got her flu shot 1 week ago, and yesterday she tested positive for flu. There are multiple strains out there.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And to continue, vaccines aren't 100% immunity or a "cure" you can still die from something you were vaccinated for.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Put aside that I am PRO vaccines, fuck you if you push your opinion on others. If ppl told you how to raise your kid you would be pissed.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If I had an infant die because of how someone else chose to raise their kid, I would be pretty PO'd as well

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How would your infant die because someone else didn't vaccinate their kid? Is your infant at an infant daycare?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't have an infant... but you really do put others in danger if you aren't vaccinated. Especially those who can't be. Like infants and 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those with diseases keeping them from being vaccinated. When you say no to a vaccination, you take those peoples lives into your hands, 2/3

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The rest of us think that you don't own your children and should be jailed for killing them. I guess you're not a fan of that idea.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can't take something that has the power to kill or seriously injure a child and say it's mandatory. There would need to be accountability

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Maybe if you shoot you fucking kid then yeah. But they have (and should)the right not to vaccinate them for religious or personal beliefs.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Religion does not override reality no matter how hard you believe it. Refusing to prevent death because of nonsense should be criminal.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well we will never agree with each other so I'm done talking about this. I have medical training and years of experience, but you do you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I bet you don't know a single family whose kid died because someone didn't vaccinate their kid. It's a very very tiny number.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's the same with those who "pray the illness away"

9 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 13

People like that should have their parental rights terminated and be forcibly sterilized. Just my $.02.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't get that. God has answered your prayers. He gave you a vaccine...

9 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 4

The belief is because Satan tempted Eve with knowledge that Medicines are not god's will but that of man. Or some such bullshit.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's the twisted part. People who believe that believe that they are better, and more prized and deserving of God's grace. They aren't.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Nah dude. Scientists and doctors gave you vaccines. Give credit where it's due. Magic Sky Fairy has nothing to do with anything.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

1 like = 1 prayer

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well there's a very noticeable line between praying for someone's recovery and not allowing someone to use western medicine on an ill 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

person because "God will do all the work" 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The latter is what I am referencing. The ones who shun medicine and opt for prayer.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had an argument with someone who states he will with-hold any medical treatment for his daughters if they ever had cancer due to his beliefs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please, intervene on those children's behalf if they ever get sick. What those parents are doing is neglecting their children and not (1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Following god's law. Nowhere in the Bible is those actions allowed (Assuming they are Christian).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Many religious people will pray for someone's health and/or recovery. To allow someone to die from refusing them western medicine is (1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cult-like and outright cruel.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Luckily, if the child is under 18 and could have been treated, it's considered neglect and manslaughter to not.

Ahh, vaccination, yeah, unfortunately. I meant general illnesses, like pneumonia, or cancer.

That's not to say some asshats get away with it due to lenient judges, but if it involves the death of a kid, they tend take it serious.

"God will provide for my family" Says the drowning man telling the fisherman to take his boat to shore.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I thought of that old joke as well.

I once told it to a few fundamentalist christian friends. they didn't get it. "Well, why didn't god save him?" they said.
