Farmer Trying To Save A Field From Wildfire In Denver..???

Looks like he managed to save maybe half of it... but either way sadly it's going to be a huge loss for him

In case anyone's wondering, this video is several years old...

Yep youtube it. Kind of crazy

This was in Weld county, I do believe

Gotta go fast.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's very sad. That's their livelihood and the only way he or she feeds their family. Heart wrenching to watch.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Does anybody else have the theme from Interstellar playing in their head while they watched this?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got news for you....farmers already suffered huge losses due to trade wars.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's Tegridy right there.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can hear the sheer cloud of curses above that tractor

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Farmer Sim 2019 is real difficult with the global warming mod

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Again?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He had crop insurance and the fallowing year that field had recorded crop yield because fire creates ash which = fertilizer

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Not many fields in Denver.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well this is old, got some water if'in ya need some

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can someone smarter than me explain how this worked?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fire burns stuff > remove stuff > fire no more burn

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

lucky the wind didnt shift

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jerk in the air couldnt pee on it?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Won't goverment compensate his loss, like they do in hot and dry seasons?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just put on the rad suit. You can stay in there for like a full minute.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

90 seconds

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact. The suit, even level A, only protects you from airborne hazards. If you want anti-radiation, there's a vest. You'll hate it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like it was an effective fire break

Nice! Hopefully it worked!

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I'll take a huge loss rather than a total loss everytime.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Dude has that thing pinned.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do they offer farmers insurance for this kind of thing?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yes, they're called State Farm, and another is called Farmers. I wouldn't count on Geico or Progressive.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gieco only covers lizard loss

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep. Seen it, covered it. Also states/feds step in for major disasters, such as the Georgia pecan trees being destroyed by one of the (1)

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

(2) hurricanes that came through last year.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I remember this. HE was saving his NEIGHBORS field. When asked by a news reporter why he would risk his life and tractor to help a 1)

6 years ago | Likes 1990 Dislikes 11

Probably doesn’t help having a chopper overhead fanning the fire

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That's AMAZING

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Makes sense. That's a huge rig for 80 acres

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

@OP has never done research on his posts, and probably never will.

6 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 10

OP never has OPs

When a man asks for help, you help him.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

pitter patter

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See, there's a good friend.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When a friend needs help, you help 'em.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For the record, I've been around fires like this since I was a kid and his life was never in danger. We light very similar fires on purpose.

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 15

Maybe not imminent danger, but farm accidents happen all the time. I’m sure an approaching wildfire would increase potential injuries.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Found the arsonist

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

We burn our own property so that it will grow better the next growing season. We also have our own rural fire district and fire trucks.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2) We get pretty large tax breaks for maintaining a private fire department, enough so that the trucks we buy end up being free.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

neighbor he just looked at the reported like they just grew an extra head and said "when your neighbors in need you help them". Also why 2)

6 years ago | Likes 1567 Dislikes 5

Thanks amazingly simple and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

I hate it when reporters grow an extra head.

6 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 2

Yeah, makes them two nosey

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Depends on the context. Guy reporter? Annoying as hell. Girl reporter? Well this could be rather hot.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"If your neighbor's house is on fire, you don't haggle over the price of your garden hose."

6 years ago | Likes 859 Dislikes 6

you haggle after they are safe and cripple them if they don't pay

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

FDR FTW

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Its a great analogy for government services. If your neighbour needed his leg wound fixed but you had to pay a little to help would you?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah, we finished paying for that hose about eight years ago. Thanks for not haggling.

But Colorado is not the Midwest and Denver is a Blue city . . .

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Tis wholesome and amazing, my faith in people went up by 0,7%

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except for the fact that the laws those rightwingers pass do not help anyone but the rich and powerful..

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 42

I agree. But the quality of people makes me want to stay amd change political minds. Not move to where people agree and are dicks

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

I respect that. I listen to right wingers pretty often and try to see their perspective while expressing mine. It's often pretty productive.

I have heard this too. Always an outsider no matter how long you've been there.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

The Southerners that ive known to move here say the people remind them of home and North Easterners keep saying how nice everyone is

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

i dont see him talking to anyone in this video unless he's talking to the tractor

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up in Rural Georgia and we're a similar sort around here. Hell, I'm in a city right now and my neighbor gave me a lb of strawberries

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

1)Drove through Nebraska years ago, stopped at a McDonald's to use my laptop to make a hotel reservation for further down the road, and

6 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 5

2) recheck my directions. My cellphone didn't have internet then. I was a young mom with my 8 yr old kid crossing the country alone. Anyway,

6 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 4

3) as I get back in my car a man comes running up to return the laptop I had left on the table. I'd have been really screwed otherwise.

6 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 3

o.0 I'm in a liberal art hellhole and let me tell you it's got nicer people than Kansas or West Texas. Fuck red states.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 82

"But why would a female not like red states??" Fucking all of you, apparently, as my medical independence is removed in multiple states.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

last I checked you still have all the same rights as men in any hospital

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I don't know if you know or not but most people are nice all across the globe.

6 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 2

Well, sure. I'm given to agree. So to prop up red states using that logic is useless don't you agree?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 13

Aww, fuck you too :)

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's nothing personal. Just, y'know. Red states keep removing my medical rights as a female and shit.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

West Texas is not a state.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

>it's got nicer people >fuck red states ...clearly you aren't one of them.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sounds like that hellhole kinda got to you a little bit.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Not really. I like it here. I just wish it wasn't at high altitude honestly XD

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

Good. Stay there, we don’t want homeless people who don’t work hard in “Red States.” SAD!

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

My god you aren't funny.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

I live in and support my red state. I love everyone until you're an asshole to me. Then you got problems.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Those laws aren't happening in blue states. It's red states deciding I'm not human enough to make my own choices.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

I'm female. *two hand gesture at the insane laws happening to deny me medical autonomy*

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Sounds to me your more about sideVSside than actual human hospitality. You are whats wrong with politics today.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

and let's not forget that red states are pulling my medical rights as a female. Medical autonomy what the fuck is that, apparently.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

Hi, I'm a socialist liberal and gun stores sell "Liberal hunting permits." I'm not the one being hostile or threatening. Red states are.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

Hope he had insurance.

6 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

he prob had Farmers

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Does insurance cover crop loss?

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Yeah they do

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They sell everything insurance. JLo got her ass insured. Yes, they have insurance that covers crop loss.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They have crop insurance

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Crop Insurance.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Farmers have special insurance for when they can’t grow due to weather and it covers disasters like this as well.

6 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

National Crop Insurance is provided by the government

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Ok lol

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

It's a legitimate thing and very necessary. Farmers are by and large extremely meticulous and careful but some things you cannot plan for.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

My buddy sold crop insurance so yes it's specifically designed for these reasons. Doesn't pay as much so there's still a reason to save some

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I just want to say that I misread that as "crap insurance" at first. Carry on.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The farmland just south of where I live is still under ~2ft of water from the Missouri flooding. They're saying it won't recede until MAYBE

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

November, if we're lucky. The farmer that owns all that property is gonna get hit hard bc of this flood, but I'm more worried about a tree.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It'll be great next year thought. Trying to control floods like that is a fool's errand.
