Lunar Lab

Each "cabinet" was labeled with an Apollo mission and kept in 100% Nitrogen under positive pressure. This is done because Oxygen reacts with the moon rocks.

Listening intently to the NASA geologist.

High Five!!

That's me in the middle!

Unique Moon Rock

This one is made primarily out of only one element - which is rare. It's been studied to try to discover the origins of the moon.

Tiny moon rock!

Big moon rock!

Just holding a moon rock. NBD.

Lunar trash only

Not a joke!

This rocks

Oh my God it was so awesome... Wait. What if the guy somehow survived, returned to Earth and than the movie would have shown us the rocks...

So, is the moon rock at the Smithsonian real? The one the public can touch? Is that like a sacrificial rock? Also, you are awesome!

Probably not. Lunar dust causes mad damage to lungs, yo.

Serious question: how much more can we learn from moon rocks? We haven't exhausted what we can learn from them?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Currently, NASA is in the mode of preservation, but they do loan rocks to outside research institutions.

But how many more secrets do the rocks hold? We've had some for like 60+ years. I know there is more to learn from the moon, but we've >

< extensively studied the rocks. They only hold so many secrets. Or am I wrong?
