Unbelivable! What a dumb ass!

Both Petco and Doordash have been informed. Doordash has the video... what a dumb ass. He'll lose his job over $200 worth of clothes. Hope it was worth it.

If your workers are so badly paid, that they are incentivised to steal, you do not pay them enough.

LIVING WAGE!

More like DoorDaft am I right guys?

Similar happened to family not too long ago. The delivery driver dropped off two boxes, photographed them, and then stole the heavier one. Canned over a bag of pet food.

I don't get it,.. you open your employment pool to "EVERYONE" and you get a lot of horrible behavior... who'd have thunk it?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Unless the house owner pressed charges, the driver will just use uber instead of Doordash for income.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As a GrubHub driver myself, I have 0 interest in your food. Fuck this thief and punish him by the law.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some cracktivities going on here. I don’t understand porch pirates to begin with. Like you think you’re gonna score some high price electronic you can keep or resell? You’re probably get some shit that isn’t even relevant to you.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like I'll get roasted for this, but I feel sorry for him. You can see the hesitation as he grapples with morality. Despite being employed, he's still desperate to the point he forgot how easy it is to get caught.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

I'm not reading him as grappling with morality, here.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

While theft might be involved, it’s paradoxal that so few people are concerned that this the recording of somebody being posted without their consent and not displaying any criminal behaviour.

What's a doordarsh ??

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Delivery service. I thought it was just for take out food. But apparently they deliver a lot more.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does he think he'll find on the package - ingredients?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean, if the label says "Cartier", it might be worth it. If it says, "Dildo Emporium"...

...still might be worth it.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Looks like drug abuse. Gaunt, fidgety, and potentially preoccupation with his next fix (hence the stealing without thinking about consequences).

Did I miss it? The title says doordash steals, but video starts with guy putting petco box down on steps? Shows him lingering, calculating, but do we actually see him take anything? (Serious question - old lady here, unsure if the second attachment is really a pic like I think or if I'm missing the most critical video clip somehow)

He doesn't look like the kind of person that has higher reasoning skills.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Very stupid, selfish, and obviously a crime. I can’t help but notice how gaunt he looks, and he seems to really weigh the choice. Makes me wonder if he’s in a desperate position. I have been told I’m naive.

2 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 12

There are quite a few strong indicators that he's using some pretty heavy stuff.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Even if he is, he is still an asshole. Stealing from a demonstrably bad entity (e.g. Walmart, etc..) is one thing that can be a morally grey area when the theft is for necessities. Stealing something you don't need to survive (which you can't claim here since he has no idea what is in the packages) from some random person you don't know is just a dick move.

He might be in a bad situation, but that doesn't excuse his actions here.

2 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 6

I’ll ignore anyone shoplifting things like food.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This. You stick it to The Man, not your fellow man. That guy doesn't know if the person he's stealing from is any better off.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

1. Amazon replaces packages not received. 2. Things can be sold in exchange for money. I lived in a broke neighborhood and the things stolen most often are packages and sometimes delivery. I'm not trying to defend his actions but he could have easily justified to himself it would be replaced and if he was desperate I can easily see why he would take a package even if it was dumb. Most crimes of opportunity are

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Worthless rat. Porch pirates are the worst, no one should be sympathetic to thieves. Those same slug bags don't value anyone else's life or property so why should anyone care for them. Hope he gets arrested for that.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I am soo glad that all the stupid shit I did when I was young and had a definite lack of empathy was done in an age before the internet and when cameras were not so smol.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Your first mistake was to let delivery drop your packages infront of your dor instead of handin them to you.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No... the mistake was made by that shit bag

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oportunety makes thieves. Dont lay out your valuables in the open

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What the fuck, was he lingering around to wait until his moral crisis passed?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He’ll lose more than his job. He’ll be arrested and make a plea deal.

2 years ago | Likes 264 Dislikes 6

Ya, don't make shit up, he would not be arrested, that's petty theft under $500 most places. He will lose his job, I bet nothing else, cops won't care because Petco and door dash were notified.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Lol usually porch pirates are hard to catch with just video, but this man literally has GPS and ID proof he was there. Even took a picture. 1000 IQ play, Elon level genius

2 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

On the plus side he'll have a record then.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Especially of one of his deliveries ordered a vinyl off of Amazon.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus will struggle getting a job that has physical objects to steal because of that record.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Ah, it was nice to be so naive once.

2 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 8

Videos like this is candy to a da. 100% of cases like this are charged in the us.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I wish that were true. Had a neighbors landlord trespass into our yard & chainsaw 3, 18' tall trees to get better photos of their house for their realtor. Eyewitnesses, video of everything, clear as day. He confessed to detectives when questioned. Could not be any more. Police have no interest whatsoever in moving the case forward.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, good luck with that. Take it to the cops, they'll file a report and that's it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yup, it's easy money. DA gets a layup case, has some junior prosecutor do the paperwork, cut a plea deal to avoid actual work, and pads his/her stats with an easy win. Rack up enough wins, and it's on to State Legislature or Congress when the time is right. New DA, rinse and repeat.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Definitely will go to a new ADA for experience and to learn to try cases, but it is not something that anyone gets "props" for. Also the sentence, regardless of if found guilty or plea, will be a CWOF or pre trial probation for about a year. No jail time, just stay out of trouble for a year and don't be a schmuck.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, they aren't, it's not worth it to the DA, I think you're really overestimating how much cops help citizens. You'd need something expensive to get arrested or be caught doing it a ton. So many glorifying what looks like his first theft. He really thinks about it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In this age of cameras everywhere, it's suprising people are this stupid.

2 years ago | Likes 555 Dislikes 2

I can predict the future with remarkable (not infallible) accuracy. When I'm wrong, my reasoning almost always includes the sentiment "but nobody could possibly be that stupid." I still make that mistake.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hari Seldon?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not stupid. Desperate. You would do the same if pushed to it by life-threatening poverty. Put another way: if you’re one late-rent-payment away from fucking HOMELESSNESS, and AAAAALLL your resources, lifelines, friends, credit, help, etc., is tapped out, and stealing/reselling just ONE package keeps you off the literal streets? Then you’re a liar or a fool if you say you wouldn’t do the same. Blame the gig economy. We used to have couriers and taxi drivers who earned a solid wage and healthcare.

2 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 61

This is the truth. Criminals don't crime if mental health is a priority and not a piece of paper with imaginary value.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

Cool motive, still a crime with a victim.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Still stupid. There are other ways to get assistance or get some source of income, even at the end of your rope.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

It’s probably safe to assume that wasn’t the case here

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

This isn't like taking clothes or a meal from a store. This is taking it from another person, who might be in the same general situation. You're supposed to stick it to The Man, not your fellow man. That aside, I agree with the other comments; he was acting way too furtively, even poking and prodding the package before taking it.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

You make some very large assumptions. Unless you know this dude, you have no idea that that is his situation. Could very well just be stupid or criminal or both.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd be smart enough to see if they have a ring doorbell... especially if I was a delivery driver who encounters them on a daily basis.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do blame the gig economy but this was still a reaaaaaaally stupid crime.

And, stealing packages from homes is just wrong. You don't know if it's hentai figurines, or their insulin. You gonna bring that shit back if it is?

2 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 0

I'd bring back the insulin, but you'd better believe I'm keeping the hentai figures.

And displaying them prominently. And tastefully.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agree. Our system is absolutely flawed and makes it extremely difficult for people to get out of poverty, but this guy is just plain dumb. Selling drugs would be much more lucrative if he really needs cash to eat. Not promoting selling drugs either, but if you are going to do illegal shit, make it worth it.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Someone opened my package of brake fluid and left it on my porch, either they didn't know it was 50 dollars worth or they figured the poor sap that has to refill brake fluid is pretty fucked

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I probably wouldn't steal it in the first place but if I hypothetically did I would probably return medicine like insulin. I mean I'd try to do it in a way where I don't get in trouble but likely would fail

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Ok sure, but anyone that desperate grabs shit and leaves immediately. Why stand around for 20 mins woth your dick in your hand? This is just an idiot.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

The best I can tell, it looks like he was trying to cover his tracks. At least at first. By taking a picture of his package delivered and the other one not there at all. And then checking the other package for tracking info.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Um... do you know how video works? Like, like... you realize that OP probably didn't post the whole video right? ... you know you can do that? Only post partial videos right?

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 8

Yes, but the point is that you could take a video of anyone in a situation where it seems like crime might occur and then cut the video and say "Yeah, they committed the crime shortly after."

Not calling OP a liar, I just think if you're gonna name and shame someone for a crime with video evidence you should probably include the part where the crime actual happens.

Only a bad thief takes more than 1 minute to steal something

*The posted video* doesn't show it, pesky Imgur video limits. Though I find him repeatedly moving around, and looking closely at the labels on the packages to by both inappropriate and highly suspicious.

2 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

Exactly, when he moved the first package you could maybe justify as clearing up the shot to get a picture of what he dropped off, but when he lingered to read all the labels and ponder what they could mean, if the video ends before he leaves and those packages aren’t there later, a little suspicious…

It's actually a little suspicious that they didn't post the part with him stealing it if that's what happened. He's certainly contemplating it. Which is wrong, but he's clearly struggling with doing it or not. Which probably means that the dude is in a real bad way atm.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 37

Nothing like getting down voted to hell for pointing out that the video didn't show the actual theft and thinking that was off. But you know, whatever. I just didn’t understand why OP didn't post that crucial part in the actual post.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Op didn't know the video got cut off. Here is the extended version: /gallery/e5ZtOhB

But I can't understand why people would think the 'incomplete' video was on purpose. Like I was incriminating an innocent person. 🙄

I don't know you personally, and I'm happy to hear you aren't that kind of person, but there are all kinds of shitty people on here who definitely have no problem lying to push a narrative. DON'T STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Really? THAT'S your take on it? People steal REGARDLESS of their situation. They steal things they don't need or even WANT! Some people are just bags of shit.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

Some people become that way because of drugs, taken to escape from their mental health issue that could have been resolved if they were given the help they needed. Escapism often causes people to become nasty and unpleasant with reduced morals, and they were not born this way.

It true that 1 person in 4 will steal when given the motivation, need and or circumstances, but that number also include those already held inside too.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yes, taking without permission is wrong and bad. This dude doesn't seem like he's one of the rich that rob the poor, though. He seems like he is desperate and using (which means he is suffering greatly). It is not an excuse for what he did, but it IS a reason to look closer. He probably needs serious help that he can't get on his own. Throwing him in a box seems like kicking someone when they are down. I'm not saying he will or won't be willing, but helping him fix his underlying problems is lov

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

He doesn't look like an addict! He looks like a thief who also happens to be a coward. No sympathy whatsoever!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Awful lot of speculation there!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There's a lot of speculation by everyone on this thread.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe this is just something I'm too un-American to understand, but I never understood how you can order so much shit that there are multiple packages sitting on your porch in just one day. Is it something to do with your shitty car-centric society?

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 10

Mail order in the US goes back to before cars were a common thing. Companies like Sears and Robucks made fortunes with giant catalogs of all the stuff you couldn't find in your local small town store and that could be delivered much more conveniently than your spending an entire day by horse and rail to reach the nearest city with bigger shops.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you live in the 16th century or some shit? Getting packages is convenient and super easy. What kind of back water town do you live in where this isn’t a normal thing?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes you just wind up with a shitton of boxes. Like I ordered 12 books this week in one order and they came in 6 different packages.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had it happen to me. I ordered a few things I couldn't get locally and they all happened to be delivered in one day. Mind you it was normal FedEx/UPS deliveries not doordash.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you really not get stuff delivered to your house? I mean, I'm 100% car free and I still get deliveries so I don't have to drag stuff around on my bike.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Oh no, I do. Like, I know I'm definitely in the lower end of the scale, it can be months between I do, but I am just confounded by the other extreme.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I do. But I live in an apartment block, and get a call if I'm home. If not, closest postal office is where I can grab it. Finland, city area

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Weird, every apt block in my area has a mail room inside where they put your packages for pickup.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a pickup spot outside, but it has to be chosen when making the delivery order, and my deliveries are usually 60 liters of cat litter - not exactly box-sized. I just make sure I'm home for that one, or grab smaller packets from the postal office five minutes down from where I live.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Main issue here is 1) National Postal Service here is criminally underfunded and exploited by corps like FedEx and 2) people order so much stuff you can't reasonably have a universal pickup spot. Best we get is Amazon Lockers in Walmart. It's.....pitiful really

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sucks man. I hope things get better on that front, for deliverers and recipients.'

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's not the getting a bunch of packages that's confusing us, it's that nobody is bringing them in. It's just so weird. I've not seen that happen anywhere besides America.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Do you have maids and butlers? Because for most people, they are at work when packages get delivered.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, but if no one's home the delivery gets rescheduled until someone is home or it's delivered to the office where I work

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, I'd like that giant box of dog food sent to my work so I can then drag it home because I like to have extra boxes...🙄
