I love Sissel - first heard her thanks to Warren G: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBRdymS6yto

Sissel is probably the best of the amazing Norwegian singers, and we are very proud of her, Kurt Nielsen, Aurora, Sigrid and Angelina Jordan. Still, I always listen to Sissel when i is time for tradition and dignity. She has worked with the Mormon tabernacle choir for many years, and made this gem I love, even though I'm Atheist. Reminds me a lot of the Horizon Forbidden West theme.

Always wondered if the sheet music for something like this is just ooooooooohs and ahhhhs on top of the notes

I'm still...... Waiting

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why does this footage look like it was recorded in the 60s?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It was 84 years ago …

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good thing THIS audio is so horribly compressed though

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Norwegian singer! Norwegians always upvote Norwegians...?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

An amazing voice on a video clip that was downloaded on a 56k modem.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I thought it was my phone just being shitty. Thanks for showing me something cool in the worst way, interwebs.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought it was all Celine Dion...

Sissel er Norsk!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only they had some kind of recording device available somewhere nearby that didn't make all the high notes sound like crap!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

She also did a duet with Warren G titled 'Prince Igor' for the rap/classical crossover album 'The Rapsody Overture': https://youtu.be/ZxnLpTNrAkc

Sissel Kyrkjebø for those wondering.

One of the most memorable pieces of music from one of my top 3 most nostalgic movies.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sissel Kyrkjebø, also, I did not know this..

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might be Sissel Kyrkjebø. She is from Norway.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had no idea Sissel Kyrkjebø sang that! Makes sense though.

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

She was also the Swedish voice for Ariel.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, that I know!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She actually was the voice for Ariel in the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish version.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHAT

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sissel Kyrkjebø. Was big in Scandinavia in the 80's and the 90's.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That is a humorously large amount of white space.

Someone needed a little lebensraum.

It's ok just try your best to remember

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Do you want to hear the story or not?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember getting the sound track on CD after the movie came out. as a kid I had really bad nightmares all the time but putting music on helped me have less anxiety about going to bed and I would put that soundtrack on because that voice was so calming to me.

Nothing like a soundtrack for a movie about someone’s lost love and thousands of other people drowning and/or freezing to death for a great nights sleep.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Yea I thought about that as I got older how that was kinda fucked, but I was like 9 so all I was thinking at that time was “oh that sounds pretty”

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Have you listened to Enya? I read an article about her once that said that "Enya" is actually three people - her, plus two producers. They record her vocals and then they make soundscapes by layering her vocals up to 25 times. It sounds amazing.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh yes! My mom always listened to Enya for as long as I could remember and she gave me a couple CDs of hers. I listened to those a lot too. I love that music

Excellent work on her part. Too bad it was for a fantastically crap film.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

This! Easily the most overrated film of all time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The entire premise is just gross. 1503 and people died in that incident, and you're going to use that as a fucking backdrop for a young love story?

I can just imagine the coach walking in, seeing this shit, then turning right around.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was fuckin terrible! Good on them though.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They started off not too bad, but damn as it went on they got to be quite a few seconds out of sync with eachother and it all just turned into noise haha.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

They are having the best of times. That doesn't necessarily translate into highest quality singing according to traditional music practice. I don't think they care.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There is only one song that can be sung by boys in a room like that.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I Want It That Way?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cool! First it sounded like Lord of the Rings soundtrack.

2 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Since this came out first, LOTR sounds like this

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah my thought too! It has a similar melody to "Concerning Hobbits."

Di di do do do do doo, Di Di do do do doo-doo do duh duh doo

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It used to be my ringtone haha

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What? My entire life I thought it was Celine Dion who sang this! God damn! This is a good TIL thank you OP much love

2 years ago | Likes 304 Dislikes 0

I thought it was Enya all this time. Jeez, I even thought the woman in the video WAS Enya and she'd changed her name.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Enya said no so the director hired someone to copy her.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Sissel Kyrkjebø is an internationally famous soprano, not really a second choice person

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

No, Celine Dion was the second choice to Enya.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Celine sang the theme song “My Heart Will Go On”. This lady did all/some? of the rest of the sound track.

2 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 1

The rest? The whole soundtrack is pretty that one song on repeat.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And yet..."featuring James Horner soundtrack"

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

James Horner composed My Heart Will Go On and Will Jennings wrote the lyrics. For some reason it's become a common misconception that Celine Dion also wrote the song.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I bet if you look it up on google it will mis-credit the song to celine Dion, this shit drives me nuts, it is just constantly wrong about who wrote what song.

Malinda!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She has a lot of great stuff. In case you or others do not know, she was the girl signing in the church that went viral years ago.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

She is also the girl who did/does Google Translate Sings, although she is focused on her own music now.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Loved her song about Puffins.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like the classics. Like "I put the ball in the sink" and "I like shapes"
