Normally not something to celebrate, but...

To avoid making this a book, I'll give you the short version. Last October, for the first time in my 23 years, I had a seizure. No reason I'm aware of. Fast forward through one year of testing, crying, and gratuitous amounts of medication, we still hadn't made any discoveries as to what I have that could be causing the seizures. My doctor, running out of ideas, decided on a long-term EEG. Basically, they stop all my seizure meds, leave the EEG on me and keep me in the hospital until I have a seizure. It's been four days with no events aside from some muscle spasms, and I really want to go home. I am happy to share that I am currently feeling god-awful!

Cat tax: Meet Minerva! She likes to scream when she's happy and I can't wait to make it home to her.

Update: I am home! 7 days later we finally captured two full events and deducted they are psychogenic non-epileptic attacks, meaning my anxiety attacks get so bad that my brain says "yeah fuck this break time" and my body freaks out while I'm unconscious, causing seizure-like episodes. I have a new psychoneurologist and the rest of the neurologists involved in my care will be in contact with my psychiatrist and therapist to develop a plan. Thank you to everyone who showed support!

They always told me "a watched pot never boils" so you...you in trouble, son.

Bummer, I'm pinching a loaf as we speak... If you're in the hospital, who's gonna wipe my bum?

But seriously, hope you go ahead and have your seizure already. That kitten needs petting NOW!

Surefire way to prick your prick.

That would be upsetting, mostly because I'm a woman.

If they figure it out you should make an update post I’d really like to know what’s causing them

Have you tried standard seizure triggers while off the meds and on the EEG? Not that I'm recommending it, that's what the doctors are for.

I asked the neurologist about it, he said they try not to use those because they want the seizure to happen as naturally as possible.

Wouldn't duplicating whatever situation you were in when it occurred, or other standard situations you'd likely be in, count as natural?

Mine don't really happen due to any specific triggers other than stress, which they deemed unsafe due to a few other health issues I've got.

I had the same shit happen to me op. I'm 28 y/o male, I had 2 seizures for the first time in my life, it was fucking terrifying. Turns out >

It was stress and my anti schizophrenia meds, I hope you get to go home soon op, they held me for 5 days hooked up to an eeg machine
