Actually there is a form of depression who force you to "be in trance" for hours. Please check for medic control.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

And suddenly every Imgur user is self-diagnosed with maladaptive daydreaming

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I have this. I just find myself disappearing in my head on this complex journey. It's incredibly detailed and can be emotionally stirring.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I appreciate the trivial fact but feel like a lot of people would take this and romanticize a medical condition.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anyone seen Garden State (2004)? That movie was weird!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OH NO

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I've never been abused but I have been doing this since I was a little girl coz real life is so boring and lonely.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's no Superman.

I'd cast him as Supes.

I thought the same thing when I read about that, but maybe I'm obsessed with the show. I only comment on Scrubs.

Actually, I think of the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty fits well too.

Can we stop making up imaginary disorders?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

We can't. We can't stop. I think something may be wrong with us. Some kind of disorder, probably.

Touche

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, pretty much. But try not being able to. You have to face the fucked up reality of your life.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to do this. I only recently realized what they did was wrong. I don't day dream much anymore.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I was 15-17 I did a lot. 18 it happened less so I thought I grew out of it. At 19 I realized what it was and it wasn't normal

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope you are away from whatever caused it, my friend. I hope you never have to again.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am thanks. Same to you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do this so much I've started mumbling out loud what I'm daydreaming. Usually I can pass it off as song lyrics but it's been getting bad.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I sometimes worry if it means I'm developing touretts. Then I worry if I'm not but people might think I am. Then I escape by daydreaming!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I talk with my hands and make facial expressions when daydreaming. I'm pretty sure I look pretty weird.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have this.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

Same

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Not to be an asshole (maybe a bit)... No, you don't have this. Now get up and do something productive for yourself. Do not stay quiet.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 23

You don't really know that though, do you?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Of course not. But I'd rather be an asshole saying it than start reinforcing some undiagnosed untreated drama in our friends mind..

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

have you seen the movie "The secret life of Walter Mitty"?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Yes good movie but not the same as the disorder discussed above

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I daydream all the time to escape reality, fully realizing what I'm doing, but do not have a history of abuse...what's my issue then?

9 years ago | Likes 140 Dislikes 3

Ur human

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That you're self-diagnosing and probably don't have the disorder?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boredom. Your issue is called boredom.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I daydream pretty frequently, although that isn't to say I haven't been through a lot of shit. Jokes on them, though! Because 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I create film ideas (short, we're talking FreddieWong in the golden days short) and have a list of hundreds to choose from for filming!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't get enough sex.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

You rack disciprine. You will never master Buddhist open palm technique that way.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I actually use the amount that I daydream as a barometer for how depressed I am. If I daydream a lot, I work on fixing mylife

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Reality sucks

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're life is an incredible disappointment and you place your mind elsewhere for temporary reprieve? Iunno, not a therapist.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You also visit imgur when you are daydreaming.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

me too. we are dreamers. better start write that novel we always plan to write but never get the time to do so

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're fucking bored. I do it too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your abuse must have been really bad to suppress it so completely.

9 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

@qtip it's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You're lazy?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Wow, just no

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I daydream all the time at work while I'm physically busting my ass so laziness has nothing to do with it

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This isn't an actual disorder. The internet made it up

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It is a legitimate disorder https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maladaptive_daydreaming

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes it's a behavior, not a disorder. Find it in the DSM-5 or a medical journal. And please use a scientific source.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I started doing it a lot when I got depressed. Couldn't sleep, so I'd make up long complex daydreams. Maybe that's it?

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

I do this, too. Hugs

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Omg I always do this before falling asleep. I look forward to it sometimes. Like my own personal tv show.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

So do I. Sometimes it's the best part of my day, but that just seems even sadder.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

i do it too. the lyric "the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had" apply so well to them

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I do it when I'm driving. Or turn on music and choreograph dances/routines in my head.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

YES!!!! I love that shit. And then I think I'm a choreography genius and should be hired immediately. Sometimes I create the music vids too

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I literally had this conversation with my bf just yesterday. Found a song that would have been good in a series we both enjoy (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) and explained when/where I would've used it. At least he agreed it was a good idea XD
