After playing darts regularly for the past 4-5 months, I got my first 180 (3 triple 20s, the highest score possible) in a game of 301 with my friend tonight.
We were both screaming and elated. Seems trivial, but god damn is it hard to do. Just wanted to share because it made me happy.

Mid '70s played 6-8 hours per day for about 6 months. very accurate. Now finding that is not a skill that hangs around in case it's needed. Started again and am rubbish. Oooh well. Enjoy.

It’s harder than 3 bullseyes imo. Something about it being off center makes it much more difficult

I think I only did 2 or 3 in my life (darted quite a bit in our studentdorm). But I also managed to kill myself (or whatever the term is for not ending with a double but throwing one less than needed, the exact number needeed or more than needed) while I was.... drumroll... at 171. (T20, T20 and without thinking I thought T17 ends with a 1, so I'll go for that one...)

One night I realized I was throwing darts the way other people throw darts, and not the way I throw weapons. So I switched. I told my friend "I think I've figured out how to throw darts." and he was incredulous. So I threw two 180s in a row. He was flabbergasted, but then I had to tell him "this always happens, it won't last long" and sure enough I didn't hit anything the rest of the night from over thinking the throws. This is what my brain and body do to me.

keep it up, more will come, theres a good training app called dart pro training sheet . helps with consistency, moving around the board and grouping.

Noice. Try getting good at triple 16s. If you're right handed it's one of the easier marks to hit because it's in the lower left of the board. Anyways you can use it to be an obnoxious friend when playing cricket or something by just stacking so many 16s

I’m getting really good at my triple nineteens and sixteens for both 501/301 and cricket. Had a great game of cricket the other day where I was down a bunch, friend needed one more bullseye and I 3 darted triple 16, double bull, double bull. He was like oooooookay let’s calm down with those shots hahaha

I wish I was that good. 180 to 121… T20,T7,D20? T19,D16,D16? So many combinations. I’d probably go for the second one. Double 16s are my best double by far. It’s crazy the amount of different ways you can close a game out.

you should be practicing all of the (ending on double) 3 dart 121 combinations, also 141, 161, and 4 dart 181, as they're easier totals to aim for, and it helps with mental calculations of what you'll need if you don't get 180s
