My dear friend Joe died about 24 hours ago. Sudden massive heart attack followed by a delay in surgery due to overcrowded hospital because of freaking covidiots. He was a good man, an astronomer. Dedicated his life to teaching and helping others. Funniest guy I have ever known. Could make up songs on the spot like Wayne Brady. My heart aches tonight. If you haven’t done so lately, tell the people you love how you feel. Please. Call an old friend.

Saw an article that somewhere they have decided if you don't vax, you got the back of the hospital line. Make this universal.

Thank you. I’ve been down this road before, but it doesn’t get easier.

My Condolences. I'm a Joe and it is sad that there is one less Joe in the world.

Damn right. Joes are good people.

They need to ask vaxed or unvaxed, vaxed get treated & unvaxed get to go home with their dewormer & prayers. Made your choice live with it.

I’m okay with that.

It may feel like it hits to hard for any one human to handle. Remember that there is no one right way to handle grief.

Thank you. I’m old enough that I’ve been here before (parents, other friends). I’ll be okay. It just deeply, deeply sucks.

I had to go to the ER last sunday night due to chest pain. All the heart attack symptoms. I had to wait half an hour in the lobby just to 1

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

get the EKG or whatever it is. Then another 45 mins for the xray. Then I waited 2 hours to hear about the results of that. I wasnt 2

having a heart attack, and despite the symptoms didnt think it was likely, but the ER was so swamped they sent me home without ever 3

actually finding the cause of the problem. All the DR. figured was it isn't heart related and the lungs look fine. 4/end

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s terrible.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dunno about you but i think an astronomer's life is more important than, say, at least 1000 covid/vaccine deniers

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I’m with you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think all lives are important, but if one is hostile to getting the vaccine and doesn't trust doctors and medical experts, then yeh. Stay-

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

home and take your ivermectin, don't clog up the hospitals.

Dude, I’m chronically ill, then add my 5th brain tumor. I’m terrified I’ll need the hospital! I’m so sorry about your friend. Awful. :-(

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry. I hope you can get any treatment you need.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lost a young friend to covid. It hurts and I can't get over it, but a little time has passed and it hurts a little less. I'm sorry

4 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 3

It is so hard. Time does help, and eventually happy memories prevail. I’m sorry for your loss.

One of my friends explained grief like a ball in a box. The box has a button inside, which triggers pain. At the start, the ball is big 1/?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And always push the button. As time goes on, the ball becomes smaller and touches the pain button less and less. But there's days where 2/?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the ball is big again. I found this metaphor useful to explain to others my sensibility level on different days. Hope it can help you 3/?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

communicate how you feel. I am sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be to have someone leave too soon. ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry for you loss, talk about him to anyone that will listen, it helps.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you. He had a lot of friends, so we can all talk to one another.

Wish I could give you a real one to help more

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thank you. I’m tearing up a little over that.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Happy to send as many mental ones as needed!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I love that one! Genuinely made me smile.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We should let the covidiots die. They don't deserve to be near the hospital. Save it for people who deserve it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Amen

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Condolences loosing a friend is grim. Keep the good times alive in memory. Spend time with and help their family if you can.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His energy has been returned to the universe.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He would like that. Thanks.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So sorry for your loss. My best advice is to tell stories about him to anyone who will listen.

4 years ago | Likes 239 Dislikes 2

That and strange two anti vaxxers in his honor. They made their choice, and it cost him his life.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know, I’m a pacifist who tries to live a good life, but this idea kind of appeals to me right now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolutely, this! I tell about my father in law to anyone who will listen. It has definitely helped me over the past few years.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Thank you. Also hearing other people’s stories.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good advice.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That… is the best advice i’ve ever heard! Lost my best friend in a car accident ten years ago, and it still hurts. Telling stories helps!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. There are many to tell about this man.

4 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Deeply sorry for your loss...I would love to hear about some good memories with him.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We're willing to listen

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

We are waiting for when you're ready to tell them.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That sucks, mainly that thought something could have been done had the hospital system not been unnecessarily overloaded.

4 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 5

My Mother has just gone through a cancer scare and had to have heart valve replaced, fortunately NZ currently managing the cases .. for now

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

If she hadn't made it or been unable to get surgery due to Covidiots I am not sure how I would react when I met one in the wild.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I’m so glad your mom got the care she needed. I might well spit on the next covidiot I see.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

It’s utterly infuriating. Thanks for your kind words, though.

I know a doctor who’s dad was having a heart attack. Small hospital they went to couldn’t handle it and couldn’t find anyone to take him. 1/

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

She packed him in the car and sped to another hospital. If you show up in the ER in medical distress they can’t turn you away. 2/

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Luckily that hospital did end up having the ability to do the surgery in a timely manner. 3/3

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Oh, thank goodness. That is so scary.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn Covidtards, My parents are 70yrs old with diabetes and high blood pressure that sky rocketed to 185.. They prefer ride it out at home>>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>>> than go to the hospital. Its frustrating n scary that my parents will need sumthin so simple n they cant get it at a hospital. >>>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>> sorry for your loss n help out the family best you can.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I fully agree. I wish your parents good health and that the hospital situation gets back to normal soon.
