Meet Six!

Six is a service dog in training from 4 Paws for Ability. She was born to the Battlestar Galactica litter, hence the name. 4 Paws for Ability specifically works to place service dogs with disabled children and their families or disabled veterans and their families.

Six is a 4 month old golden retriever and loves to play fetch. After her time in foster, she'll go into advanced training to determine if she'll get placed with a disabled child, disabled veteran, or go into the breeding program.

I will be fostering her for the next 3ish months. During this time she'll be going EVERYWHERE with me to get used to a variety of environments. This is critical in her ability to be a service dog since she has to be exposed to a variety of day-to-day things like parking lots, mannequins, elevators, etc. I've only had her for a day, and I'm already in love!

Wish us luck!

So cute it makes me grit my teeth.

Where's Seven? Is she afraid of him?!

Little known fact: Six actually ate seven. She pooped him out seven times in the house -_- ...it's something we're working on!

What purpose does the nosel thing do? Like I never understood why owners put them on even friendly doggies?

It's called a Gentle Leader. It gives us better control over her head (similar to a horse harness) and prevents pulling with the chest/neck.

Neat!! Seriously I always feel so bad when it looks like the dogs neck is about to be strangled by snug collars.
